The Alan R. Pearlman Foundation Announces ARPs for All

via The Alan R. Pearlman Foundation where you can find additional details.

"The Alan R. Pearlman Foundation (ARPF) is thrilled to announce ARPs for All: a new program to bring the magic and inspiration of rare vintage ARP synthesizers to EVERYONE in the music-making public.

In partnership with The Record Co. (TRC), ARPs for All is launching an initial collection of 5 instruments (the ARP Avatar, Axxe, Odyssey, and a vintage ARP 2600 with ARP Sequencer) available for hands on use, learning, and experimentation at TRC’s community recording and rehearsal facility in Boston. Over the summer of 2021, these will be joined by an ARP Omni, Quadra, Solus as well as a rare ARP Explorer on loan from the estate of Alan R. Pearlman.

In the coming year ARPF and TRC will grow this living collection of instruments and foster deeper community engagement through experiential educational programming for the public as well as music synthesis-focused residencies for emerging artists.

Join us and make ARP’s incredible legacy of musical (and electrical!) ingenuity accessible to future generations of makers. In other words: ARPs for All!"

Roland DDR-30 Digital Drums 1985 | When Roland took on Simmons

video by Espen Kraft

"Roland DDR-30 from 1985. The brain in a digital drum system Roland designed to compete with Simmons at the time. Complete this came with a full set of drum pads to go along.

The DDR-30 is a digital/analog hybrid system. The 24 12-bit PCM samples are digital, but each of the 6 drum voices you can play at the same time are processed analog through the CEM 3360 VCA. Not untypical for the rest of the Roland MKS modules from this era.

All the 6 drum voices (kick, snare and 4 different toms) can be triggered from pads through the 6 trigger inputs on the back. Or the voices can be played over MIDI. The 6 voices also have their own individual outputs. There's also a mixed stereo output.

The demo song in the beginning is done with only the DDR-30 providing drums. The hi-hat is not part of the DDR-30, but since you can process the individual drum voices with no less than 16 parameteres each, I just took a snare and tuned it into a hat and overdubbed that part.

The rest of the demo song is Sequential Six-Trak for a LIVE solo while bass, poly synth and arps are coming from the Jupiter-8."

Maneco Labs - Otterley Stereo Reverb

video by NOISEBUG

"This is a demo of the Maneco Labs Otterley Stereo Reverb eurorack module. Its a dual reverb design that can create some epic soundscapes and pitch shifting. More info can be found here -

https://www.noisebug.net/products/man..."

via Noisebug

"Otterley is a rich dual reverb, but with simple operations.

It includes two engines, reverb one, controlled by just a knob but with rich and atmospheric flavor , and reverb two , a reverse reverb with several associated parameters.

Despite its complexity, operation is quite simple, no menus, no switches, no hidden functions.

Description of controls:

●Reverb 1 :one knob level and size control for first engine, as level increases also does size and modulation complexity for this lush component.

●Reverb 2 : reverse reverb engine blend control , from dry to full wet.

●Feedback : regeneration for Reverb 2 , from zero to almost self oscillation.

●Delay: time and size for reverse component, from almost immediate to dry signal to quasi reverse delay character , for reverb 2

●Grain : density for reverb 2 , from identifiable reverb grains to blurred sound strokes at maximum.
