Remembered

video upload by boxoftextures

"Well, not quite the usual I suppose. Always loved the sound of the saxophone but never got one, alas. In junior high I wanted French and the flute or sax, but they gave me Spanish and the baritone horn. And I suppose that explains everything, ya know? But hey, now we have iPad software! And iFretless Sax sounds pretty amazing. I also have iFretless Brass, used here as well, and iFretless Bass, which to me feels very Chapman Stick-like, which I love. They also have a guitar app but I haven't tried that one yet for some reason. So one day I had an electric piano going in SnakeBud and I was just sitting there playing "sax" and from out of nowhere, or wherever the music comes from, Remembered arrived. Add a synth wash, as usual, and a shimmered trumpet, et voilĂ , we now have jazz. Or something.

And as always, I thought the video edit wouldn't be a big deal, but somehow every time I think that it's just more and more ridiculous. Which is why I used that screen as the thumbnail for the video. To celebrate it, of course.

This one is sort of both how-to and also music, so again, not quite the usual as more often it's either one or the other. But today it's both. And also, putting together the "stuff used" list for something that sounded like it was "simply" using just four instruments, it somehow turned out to be, well, rather lengthy.

video upload by Sequential

"Welcome to 'Sequential Synth Tips,' where some of our favorite artists share their tips, tricks, and techniques on a Sequential synth. In this episode, we feature Arc Iris keyboardist Zach Tenorio programming an electric piano patch, and demonstrating performance techniques utilizing the touch sliders and pitch wheel.

Zach Tenorio-Miller is the keyboard player and co-founder of Providence, Rhode Island art-pop trio, Arc Iris. Zach has collaborated with a wide array of artists including Kimbra, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, AC Newman (New Pornographers), Gene Ween, and long time collaborator and mentor, Jon Anderson (Yes).

Wavefonix W314 First Jam & 1847 Wavetable VCDO Sound Demo

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"Just got the W314 from Wavefonix plugged in and here's a recording of my first patch. The two 3340 oscillators are being sequenced by the Wavefonix 8-Step Sequencer and the Wavetable oscillator is getting two notes from a Varigate 4+ (both off-camera). There's some reverb on the output module. Otherwise, it's all the W314. More to explore!"

Wavefonix 1847 Wavetable VCDO sound demo

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"The 1847 module is part of Wavefonix's W314 Eurorack system and here's a handful of minutes of moving knobs and enjoying the sorts of sounds it produces. There are 16 waveforms in the main oscillator with 8 in the sub-oscillator over 4 octaves. The main oscillator morphs whereas the sub switches which gives it an interestingly different effect when modulated."

Runningonair - Sometimes (Music Video)

New bitterweet track by supporting member, Runningonair.

Warning! Adult Language included!
---------------------------

I started this project as a demo for the Wasp synthesizer, but as usual it developed into a full blown track. It's inspired by some of the darker emotions, those moment where someone says just the wrong thing and pushes exactly the right button. I've include Fortnite footage, which often inspires strong feels and meltdowns. Seemed appropriate.

FAST FPGA Audio Signal Processor Demo

video upload by Romain Michon

"This system was designed as part of the FAST project (http://fast.grame.fr) and provides a round-trip audio latency inferior to 80us. The various elements of the user interface also have a low latency of 100us."

"What is FAST?
Embedded systems for audio and multimedia are increasingly used in the arts and culture (e.g., interactive systems, musical instruments, virtual and augmented reality, artistic creation tools, etc.). They are typically based on a CPU (Central Processing Unit) which limits their computational power and induces some latency. FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) can be seen as a solution to these problems. However, these types of chips are extremely complex to program, making them largely inaccessible to musicians, digital artists and makers communities. The goal of the FAST project is to enable high-level programming of FPGA-based platforms for multichannel ultra-low-latency audio processing using the Faust programming language (a standard in the field of computer music). We plan to use this system for various applications ranging from sound synthesis and processing to active sound control and artificial sound field/room acoustics."

SYNTH-WERK Introduces SW 1630 BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER & SW 735 Rack Version

via SYNTH-WERK

"After long and intensive research & development work we are very proud to announce our newest creation, the SW 1630 & 735 BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER. The first batch of 10 units is already build and sold to our friends from the waiting list.

From today on the Module is available and can be ordered.

Price:

SW 1630 BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER : 1.950 Euro + TAX
SW 735 rack version: 2.150 Euro plus TAX"

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
A frequency shifter is an audio signal modifier which shifts the entire frequency spectrum of the applied signal by a given amount. The Model SW 1630 Bode Frequency Shifter allows the amount of shift to be accurately and continuously controlled over a span of -5000 Hz to +5000 Hz, utilizing voltage and/or manual control. The relationship between the control voltage sum and the amount of shift may be either linear or exponential. Up-shifted and down-shifted outputs, as well as a continuously variable mixture of the two, are available simultaneously and independently. Variable threshold squelch and zeroadjust fine tuning controls are provided.

The Model SW 1630 Bode Frequency Shifter changes the ratios between the frequency components of an audio spectrum, thus producing a variety of novel sound quality transformations. Applications include a wide variety of tone color modification, P.A. feedback suppression, linear frequency modulation, novel tape feedback effects, and the generation of dynamically varying clangorous tones.

MUSICAL APPLICATION
In shifting the components of the input audio spectrum by a given amount, the SW 1630 Bode Frequency Shifter changes the original ratios between the overtones and other frequency components of the input signal. Rather than being a transposing device, this instrument is a means for achieving an extremely wide variety of tone color modification. Whether the amount of frequency shift is large or small, static or time varying, or whether the input signal is simple or complex, the processed outputs will generally be musically interesting."
