Quasimidi The Raven Max Synthesizer (1996)

"Das Würfelspiel"

here I show the live performance possibilities;
I use the internal pattern sequencer (self-made and factory sounds and pattern) and the motivator (here as arpeggiator) and change the sounds in real time."

Moog Source with CV and Audio Input Mods

via this auction

SN 1215

"I purchased this unit from Mike Bucki of Modusonics a number of years ago who fully serviced it and added a couple of unique mods for me - an audio input (!) and keyboard-CV output scale...

Sonically, apart from a minimoog, there is nothing like it - with the 24dB Moog filter, it's the real deal... The Source has 16 memory locations, built-in step sequencer, and very nifty arpeggiator which, of course, are not found on a Minimoog. It's very east to program and makes a great synth for gigging too. An SKB PS-25 pedalboard case I discovered makes an excellent carrying case (not included)."

MOOG LIBERATION VINTAGE KEYTAR SYNTH

via this auction

See the auction for tons of pics.
The seller also has a Moog Source listed here.

"This particular example, serial number 3020, is in excellent cosmetic condition and includes the original case and original Moog interface, serial number 3284, and the corresponding cable. The Liberation was Moog's unique strap-on keytar style portable performance synthesizer and most often compared to Moog's other two-oscillator synth, the Moog Rogue."

The Liberation is a dual-oscillator monophonic analog synth and although comparable to Moog's other two-oscillator synths such as the Rogue (already mentioned above) and the Realistic Concertmate MG-1, the Liberation is actually most similar to Moog's most popular dual-vco synth, the Prodigy.

The actual synth controls of the Liberation are nearly identical to the Prodigy, with the addition of Ring Mod, Noise and Polysynth controls in the Mixer section. The Liberation also uses sliders and toggle switches instead of the Prodigy's knobs and slide switches. The Liberation is fairly simple to use and has that unique monophonic Moog sound. Its two analog oscillators are combined to produce a monophonic, single-note output. Each oscillator features sawtooth, triangle and square shapes (waveforms can be selected independently on each VCO) adjustable over three octave ranges each, and they can be mixed together to produce a variety of tones. There is also a simple polyphonic section that can be useful for playing organ-type sounds. There is the traditional 24 dB/oct Moog filter section with its own cutoff, resonance (emphasis) and envelope controls (attack, decay/release, sustain), and a Loudness amp with attack, decay/release, sustain envelope controls. Some other nice on-board features include a Ring Modulator, Noise Generator, and syncable VCO's. But one of its great features is its ribbon controller, located in the hand-grip portion of the synth which can be used for pitch bending and modulation effects."

Dirty Electronics/Mute Records Synth with Autographs

via this auction
"Top of the list here is an unused and brand new "touch and tilt" synthesizer, designed and built by Dirty Electronics, commissioned by Mute Records and for sale exclusively at the Mute Records Short Circuit electronic music festival, held at The Roundhouse, London, 13th & 14th May 2011. Also up for grabs (as part of this lot) are autographs of three guys who have helped craft so many Mute records...Daniel Miller (the boss man), Flood (record producer for Depeche Mode, Nick Cave, Nitzer Ebb, Renegade Soundwave etc.) and Gareth Jones (sound engineer). There are also six black and white 8"x10" photographs taken at the weekend event, plus A5 and A6 sized leaflets distributed at the event. Only 50 copies of the Mute Synth were manufactured and all were sold at The Roundhouse. You will struggle to find another copy of this amazing piece of electronic wizardry. An A4 paper manual is included. The size of the synth is approximately 18x11 cm. The synth has no keyboard and cannot be programmed, it has no memory. Essentially you are bidding on an item for what it actually is more than what it actually does. In essence it is a noise generator that responds to touch and alters pitch/sound when tilted. The following is an excerpt from the included documentation, which better describes the device... The Mute Synth is a hand-held touch and tilt instrument with copper etched artwork and contoured printed circuit board that was designed in collaboration with Mute and graphic designer Adrian Shaughnessy. The instrument brings together many Dirty Electronics aesthetics and instrument designs into one device in particular creating an instrument ‘of the hand’ (in terms of both playing and building), a noise-based device that utilises feedback, and exploring the relationship between artwork and circuit board. It combines sound synthesis with a sequencer/pulser, and it is ‘knobless’. The Mute Synth is controlled by using the conductivity of the human body to complete the instrument’s circuit when the copper etching is touched. There are touch ‘points’ on both sides of the circuit board, and the instrument is designed to be played with thumbs and fingers. Two tilt switches on different planes allow for gestural control of the sequencer. Pulsating brilliant white noise and grunge in the hand!"

MINI ANALOG SYNTH :: MYO

Chamber of Sounds (RSS)
"MYO is a Myokinetic Stimulator converted into a touch & light sensitive analog synth + theremin. Her warm sounds can soothe the soul or shake the foundation of your house. MYO is a one-off and exclusively available through chamberofsounds.com"

via this auction
"Built inside MYO's rugged case is the Chamber of Sounds, Jupiter T engine. with the addition of a green LFO indicator light. It runs on a 9V power supply, which come with the unit. Because the case is 30 some-odd years old, it does have slight wear, which makes it all the more authentic. MYO can be played with either your fingers touching the sensors, or by an external sound source, through its trigger input. Pitch can be controlled either by light or by the knobs. It truly sounds fantastic, and can produce most analog sounds easily."

ABL2 TB303

YouTube Uploaded by Bonnline on May 13, 2011

"This is Audiorealism's software version of the TB303 it's called ABL2 or AudioBassline 2. As you will see from my other vids I own an original 303 so I'm in a good position to compare the two.

The ABL2 is a mere 10th of the price of a TB, so I won't be to hard on it!

I'm running it on a Mac, through GarageBand with GBs compressor, overdrive and distortion.

.........................

1 week after ownership of the ABL2: I had to produce this vid to let you hear just how good this little piece of software is. I programmed similar tunes as in my (TB303 Famous) tunes vid so you can play them both and compare them. Please bear in mind that I just pointed my camera at the screen and used the cameras tiny microphone to record the sound. It sounds even better in real life! (bear in mind the ABL2 cost £100 not £1000!).

My 'thang' for the original TB is the sweet spot - that bird-like chirp at the peak of the resonance cutoff.

THE ABL2 CAN HIT THAT SPOT - HARD AND SWEET :)

To be honest i was dumb-founded by what I was able to achieve. It's well capable of the most complex of rhythms.

The not so good: It really does need an updated manual as currently (May 2011) it's a version for ABL 1.5. The manual comes with an addendum but I feel the whole thing needs re-written at base level.The on, off , tie, rest and slide etc aren't explained fully. This can cause the programming to suffer.

Addendum (ha ha): To be fair I haven't figured the programming out yet (1 week!), as you will hear as some of the tunes aren't just right! (am I being to hard on a £100 piece of kit - YES ;). After all! Audiorealism are Swedish = Tack Mike Janney och team du har producerat en vass bit av ljudprogram.

One thing though: I wish they would make a hardware unit running the software. WHY? Well I work with computers all day (as most people do these days) and to come home and stare at another computer screen for hours on end, well it just burns the retinas waayyy toooo much.

update: Just downloaded TB303 skin for the ABL and it looks the 'dogs' ;)"
