Synthrotek OBEY | Modular Vignette Series

Published on Oct 4, 2018 File Transfer Protocol

"Playing with the new OBEY module from Synthrotek. OBEY is a dual-function module: one half envelope follower and one half attenuverter / offset generator. I'm using the envelope follower in a feedback type path from the vco which is running through the Fold module in order to modulate the resonance on the LPG. The percussion is provided by two DS-M modules, and all of the sequence is coming from the Division 6 Labs Dual Mini Sequencer."

Easy 2 Voice Mod for Synthrotek DS-M | Modular Quick Tip

Published on Jun 13, 2018 File Transfer Protocol

"Here’s an easy way to get a kick and snare out of one Synthrotek DS-M analog drum module. It’s a simple mod using a vactrol on the mix knob or even better, the adjustable resistance from the Synthrotek Vac Pack and a jack to control it all via CV (which alternates between the white noise source and the oscillator):

Modular Jams by e-pleasure

Published on Feb 19, 2017 e-pleasure

This one in via Florian Anwander.

Playlist with descriptions:

1. Modularjam 1

"My first Video of a simple sunday evening patch I played and recorded for myself. I use this for the documentation of my modular patch experiments.

The Drone: Is a Braids with the VOWL model, going thru the RT451 stereo multimode filter, one with HP the other with LP. They go to two channels of the 4ms VCA Matrix. The VCA Matrix is triggered from the Vermona Fourmulator, each LFO 90° shifted, so I get a quadrophonic effect in my studio with 4 speakers around my head.

Kickdrum: I used the Synthrotek ds-m, a wasp from doepfer, a channel from the HexVCA and a envelope from Intellijel. Triggered directly from the ALM Pamela's Workout.

The rhythmic plingplong: Is coming from the OSC-03 form MFB, triggered by the doepfer sequencer, the trigger is multiplied according to the voltage delivered to the A160-5 ratcheting controller.

The snare: Is a noise, going only thru the doepfer VCA in exponentional mode, controlled by an envelope, and then thru a Roland Demora stereo delay.

Bass by MFB Dominion1
Lead by Moog Sub37"

VOLTLIFE: DS-M + M1xXOR = complex grooves

Published on Dec 21, 2015 voltlife

"My previous video demonstrated the response that Syntrotek's DS-M's drum sounds have to different triggers. This video shows how we can use this to create a huge range of drum and percussion sounds out of one module with limited CV control: mixing multiple gate and/or trigger streams together creates varying amplitude inputs to DS-M, which responds not just with simple accents, but with totally different types of drum sound. Animodule's M1xXOR works especially well for this, since we can mute channels with gates to create more complex rhythmic combinations, or play the channels manually in a performance situation."

VOLTLIFE: DS-M variable trigger response

Published on Dec 21, 2015 voltlife

"The Synthrotek DS-M drum module may only have one CV input, but it responds very dynamically to the amplitude and width of the input trigger. This tutorial shows how you can use this to get much more variety out of the DS-M's percussion sounds without having to manually tweak the knobs all the time."

Harmonic Symmetry

Harmonic Symmetry from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"Harmonic patch using the new MakeNoise tELHARMONIC is a Multi-Voice, Multi-Algorithm synthesizer, and 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator. The master clock is the Tiptop Circadian Rhythms. Clock output running into the Modcan Touch Sequencer. Channel output one running into one intellijel Dixie (V1) for the bassline. Dixie output running into a Mutable instruments Ripples filter (LP4), triangle waveform. Second channel output sequencing quantized 8 note sequence to the telharmonic oscillator, creating the first lead sequence in the patch (major scale set). One Mult output taken and sent to the Strymon BigSky reverb pedal to create the delicate swarm pads that rise in and out at the builds. Amplitude control of the slow rises via the intellijel HexVCA, slow rate control from one Modcan Quad LFO. The other output is then taken and sent to the Qu-bit RT-60 reverb. Third output from the Modcan TS sending quantized CV to the MakeNoise STO oscillator variable SHAPE output then sent through lower section of the MakeNoise Optomix. The forth output from the Modcan TS is sending a 4 chord pattern (min9) to the intellijel shapeshifter module in chord mode. This output is then sent to another Qu-Bit RT-60 reverb algorithm. MakeNoise Mysteron plucking guitar like effect being triggered by a 4ms RCD, 5th trigger out. The Mysterson then is running out into a Strymon BlueSky pedal, reverb.

Drum sequencing from TipTop CR, channel one kick drum going to the Nord Drum 2. Second channel number 2 triggering a custom snare drum made on the Nord Drum 2. Channel 6 from the CR triggering a low bass drum, in the key of "C". Clock output from CR into the 4ms SCM being rotated by a intellijel dixie sine wave output running at a slow rate shifting the 16th's hi hat pattern. Noise source for hi-hats are the SSF quantum rainbow 2, purple output running into the MakeNoise Optomix. The high end snare clap sound is by the Synthrotek's DS-M drum module, then being lightly processed by the Synthrotek DLY, slowly CV controlled by a Modcan Quad LFO in random mode creating more glitchy effects. This is then being sequenced by channel number 2 from the tiptop CR. The first lower left side 4ms Spectral Multi-band Resonator processing 72 custom DSP samples, which are being played by one addac wave player. The output is then being sent to a intellijel uVCF filter (hi pass), for the light subtle glitch textures. The second 4ms Spectral Multi-band Resonator, processing another set of 32 samples (noise washes/slow rises/falls) via channel number 4 from the CR tiptop. Main output from a intellijel Mutagen mixer then ran through the Eventide space pedal for extra spatial atmosphere. :-)
