Casio Island! (Casio MT-400v Keyboard Demo)

"When I was 14, back in the 80s, I got my first electronic keyboard- a Casio MT-100. I made lots of rudimentary dual cassette deck overdub recordings with it, little sketches of tunes that usually were never developed. I lent my MT-100 to Cindy Lee Berryhill years ago and never got it back, but recently I bought a Casio MT-400v at a garage sale. It has all the same sounds/functions as the MT-100, plus a much needed analog filter section!
This is a new recording of one of my original Casio tunes called "Casio Island" with my MT-400v. I didn't use the analog filter here, because I never had it on the MT-100 back in the day, and I wanted this version to be as close to the original as possible, just with better recording technology.
Recently I used this Casio in a live cover version of Yaz's "Nobody's Diary" with Marie Haddad singing. We're working on a fancy recording of this, which makes lots of use of the analog filter. I'll post a video of that when it's finished.

Hopefully you can see in the pictures how on each song, it's shows you where to set all the knobs for your synthesizer to get the different sounds. It is especially written for people with a minimoog or arp odyssey, with the diagrams layout exactly like the layout of those synths, but it says it's universal for people with any other synthesizer, because the settings listed are settings that most older analog synths have. It says to listen to the sound examples to get your synth sound to match."
Micromoog/Multimoog DIY Modifications
"Micromoogs and Multimoogs have always been adequate for lead lines and noise FX, but they have a "fault" that restricts their ability to deliver bass timbres a'la the classic Minimoog bass. The VCF has a cap on the audio input that provides DC isolation, but it also forms a high pass filter; on the Micro/Multi, the cap is not large enough to allow low frequency components to pass through. This is evident when you observe the change of the pulse waveform on a scope, as you switch the VCO octave from 8' to 32'. This "fault" is easily fixed." "FYI, I'm fairly sure this is the same MicroMoog mod that Phil Cirocco once acknowledged on a MusicThing thread with a "I wouldn't do that if I was you" type reply. Did some googling just now and I couldn't find it, but I remember it quite clearly 'cause I was all set to do that mod on my own MM. I held off, though am definitely open to hearing the defense. Is what it is."

MOOG Minimoog Voyager OS Stolen from the Musikmesse?
Word from Amos of MOOG Music on the Analog Heaven list is that this Voyager OS listed on Ebay.de was stolen from the Frankfurt Musikmesse.
"So some clever fellow stole one of the world's only Voyager Old School prototypes from the Frankfurt Musikmesse... and lo and behold, it is on German eBay! My good friend Jens Steinmeyer called me from Germany to alert me to this one. It's .de item number 180224511106, see for yourself. Jens has alerted the local constabulary, but if there is anything else the global analog community can do to make sure that the thief is caught, by all means lend a hand... thanks!"
Update: BTW, Amos has requested that Ebay not be notified so the local authorities can follow through.
Update via actuel in the comments: "Elektron the same night had a Monomachine MKII & Machinedrum/UW MKII also stolen. I will definitely point them to this Ebay seller."

"UPDATE: The thief has been caught, and Moog and Elektron were not the only victims! Here's the news via Stefan Hund of EMC (Moog distributor in Germany):
"YES, we were sucessful. Because this guy was so stupid to offer the prototype at Ebay, the police did get his address very quickly from Ebay monday morning and arrested him monday aftersoon with house search!! The police found a lot of stolen stuff including the Voyager OS. This guy was "singing like a bird" and told did steal stuff from 7!! more other companies.
In present the OS is safe at the police station at Frankfurt, will pickup the unit next week."

Designed in 1980 by Chris Huggett of OSCar fame, this is a seriously quirky synth with a huge sound for it's size. It may look like it'd be difficult to play, but it's not, and it's a lot of fun too. You can create a wealth of unusual sounds, from deep basses to soaring leads, modulated textures to drones and other sonic madness. The filter alone is worth buying it for - i've never heard a synth with such a razor sharp sweep when you open the filter up."
