OTO Machines BOUM Now Available for Pre-Orders - New Sound Demos

This one in via swissdoc

The third of OTO Machines FX boxesannounced in 2014, the OTO BOUM, is now available for pre-order.

"BOUM is a full analog stereo warming unit, combining an easy-to-use compressor, a versatile distortion generator and a smooth low-pass filter. BOUM is the perfect tool when you need to add warmth, thickness, and character to your sounds, but also apply severe distortion and extreme compression treatments.

BOUM is based on an original and unique circuit, including the following stages :

INPUT GAIN : boost your signal up to +18db to adapt BOUM to various signal levels, and also improve the distortion content and the compression sensitivity.

COMPRESSOR : with a single knob, control the 3 essential parameters of a compressor, threshold, ratio and makeup gain, without thinking about how a compressor works ! The ratio ranges from 1:1 (no compression) to inf. :1 (limiter), but also negative compression up to 1: -1!

Nyx Analogue Synth (Extended Noodling)

Published on Feb 25, 2018 Jyoti Mishra

"This is a more in-depth follow up to my initial Nyx vid now that I've spent more time with the wee beastie.

It's a fabulous little synth and because of its eminent tweakability, I'll often reach for it first. That being said, I have heard a couple of people saying it's not great for "conventional" sounds which is partly why I made this further vid."

"**Has some major functional problems** - it will need work: Only one of the VCOs seems to work and the poly section is not outputing, many of the sliders and pots are scratchy, the VCF and filters seem to work correctly, all keys seem to work, the bender bar is hard to move, and the Pitch poly pot is a little warped. Still makes some cool weird sounds, but definitely not in normal working order.

Includes User and Service Manual - which include schematics, parts lists, etc..."

Frap Tools Fumana - Ambient tone shaping

"Not a demo, more some studio experimentation with eh various control points of Fumana, an incredible 16-band Spectral Filter

I cannot sum up how amazing it is to have this level of sound control in modular.

New 2018 Optigan Disc - SAMBA! w/ Marimba on Keyboard

Uploaded on Feb 24, 2018 optigandotcom

From the depths of the Optigan master tape archives comes this previously unreleased SAMBA jam, paired with a Marimba keyboard scale that similarly went unused back in the 70s. Though we have previously released the marimba sound for Orchestron, it's making its first Optigan appearance on this disc. Oddly enough, the Samba session did not include any percussion specials, so rather than using the more generic latin percussion found elsewhere in the master tape archive, we hunted down some nice public domain samba percussion loops which pair nicely with the vintage tapes. So get onboard those jets to Brazil!!

Also: NEW!! iOptigan for iPad/iPhone!! https://www.ioptigan.com/"

And:

"For a very limited one-month time period only, from now until March 25th 2018, we’re offering an opportunity to buy discs from our back-catalog. Normally we’re not able to keep these titles in stock, because historically the vendor that makes the raw discs has required a minimum order of 25 copies of any given title. Since our cost for these copies is quite high, and it’s an extremely niche market, we can’t afford to buy them in large quantities and remain thousands of dollars in the red while the orders slowly trickle in. BUT, over the course of a year we typically reach a point where there are enough total requests for discs across all the various titles that the vendor is willing to take an order without requiring the usual minimum number of copies for each title. This all has to happen in one fell swoop, so we’re limiting the time frame in which folks can place their orders. Once the deadline passes, we’ll order only as many copies as we have actual orders for. It will then take a month or two to get all those copies fabricated and sent out. Your patience is appreciated! Unfortunately, we cannot offer any sort of bulk discounts or other types of custom orders beyond what is offered in our store. In the past we’ve experimented with different bundle pricing schemes, etc, so the prices set for those bundles will remain in effect. All discs will ship with the printed jackets exactly as pictured on the product page for each item.

Shop the store and place your orders here: http://optigan.com/shoptigan/new-optical-discs/"

E370 & E352 Jam

Published on Feb 25, 2018 The Mad Music Machine

"Caitlin's first full jam with the Synthesis Technology E370 & E352.

The E370 has oscillator one connected to the Roland System-1m which is being used as a filter. Oscillators 2 ,3 & 4 form chords outputted via the E370's onboard mixer.

The E352's 2 outputs are fed to the Mother-32's filer and envelope.

The Mother-32 (along with a Pico Seq) provide the sequencing. MATHS and the Quadra/Quad VCAs the envelopers.

We also use the Hexinverter drums triggered by the 4MS Rotating Clock divider."

Projection

Published on Feb 24, 2018 Oxix52

"I recently acquired a few vintage vinyl records of Morton Subotnick and was intrigued by the notation on the back of Silver Apples of the Moon. I experimented with 5 of the lines from this notation using the 251e and 250e for the sequences and the 252e for some triggering. I used the principal and modulation oscillators from the 261e and 259 as well as one section of the Dual Algorithmic Oscillator. This doesn’t sound anything like Subotnick’s masterpiece, but it was fun putting it together."
