**Watch in HD!!** **Turn it UP!!**

MIDI FILE FRIDAY:
Heart - Barracuda (1977)
This is a song I wanted to cover for a long time
and today it came up in my head & I said "NOW!"
I got this one down so a real Guitarist & Vocalist
can rock out & sing to it, it's a Techno / Industrial
version at 138 BPM. I think the original is 135? 136?
I'm not a drummer so you tell me! ;) - Tap Tempo
here we go! This is mostly Bass & Drums version
using the Korg Kronos w/ Roland Jupiter-8 Bass,
Brass & Leads Samples from the Reverb Roland
Synth Collection Sample Pack (Link Below) and
then I used the Behringer DeepMind 6 for the
full on analog acid bass line. Sweet to use w/ MIDI!
Drums of course are GENERAL MIDI! :)

"For RE:COVER's fourth episode, we visited Erased Tapes mainstay Rival Consoles, in his studio to capture his stunning interpretation of Kate Bush's anthemic ‘Running Up That Hill’.

Focusing on the similarities between his intricate electronica and the pop icon's unique approach to bold and emotive songwriting, the artist delivers a shimmering ambient take on the classic track.

Last year, Rival Consoles released Persona, his fifth studio album with Erased Tapes."

"Playing with this quirky devices wavetables"

Prophet VS waveforms no less. Note there are two types of wavetables - static wavetables that hold digital waves you can select from, and PPG/Waldorf/Transwave style wavetables that allow you to sweep and sometimes morph between waveforms with a modulator. The Prophet VS and Evolver were static, however with the VS you could morph the mix levels between the four source waveforms with a Joystick. This was vector synthesis which made its way to the Yamaha SY22 and TG33, followed by the KORG Wavestation.

Depeche Mode - NEW LIFE - Played on Realistic Moog MG-1 Synth

Published on Jan 10, 2019 peahix

Peahix is one of my synth heroes. His creations never cease to amaze me. He also runs optigan.com.

"I resurrected an old Cubase file I created originally to record a version of this track for my Yamaha CS01II synth, in order to test out this Moog MG-1 I picked up for $100 at a garage sale. All the sounds (drums too) were generated by the MG-1. I didn't spend alot of time dialing in the patches or the mix for this one, just sort of got it ball-parky. I did a bit of a better job overall w/ the CS01II version, which you can hear and read about here: [below]

Anyway, the Moog was MIDI'd up to Cubase via a Kenton Pro-Solo, and it seemed to work nicely with that. Neat little synth!"

Yamaha CS01II plays NEW LIFE by Depeche Mode

Published on May 9, 2011 peahix

"Download this with better sound quality here: http://snd.sc/iD5jmD

The Yamaha CS01II is the first real synthesizer I ever owned. I got it when I was about 14 years old, back in 1985 or so. I noticed that I could get reasonable approximations of most of the sounds from Depeche Mode's "Speak & Spell" album with it, but at the time I didn't have the means to make decent multi-track cover versions, even after I got a 4-track.

Recently I was studying the Depeche Mode 5.1 surround mixes, and realized that I could clearly hear all the distinct parts of alot of the songs, including "New Life." I also realized that most of the sounds in "New Life," which heavily featured the ARP 2600, were fairly simple. So I decided to throw together a version of it using just my trusty old Yamaha CS01II as the sole sound source (including the drums), just to see how close I could get to the original.

This version has no vocals at all, but otherwise it comes pretty close to the original. The actual musical arrangement is 100% accurate. The sounds themselves are of course only approximations, and most of them don't have the same level of timbral detail as the ARP originals. I sequenced the whole thing in Cubase via a Kenton Pro Solo going into the custom CV/Gate inputs on my CS01II, recording each monophonic line in one at a time (20 tracks in all). Cubase provided the reverb and EQ, otherwise it's all CS01II."

"All of the Jupiters have a sound that was unlike any other synthesizer and the JP-6 lives up to the billing. The sound is due in part to classic analog Roland technology in its filters, modulation capabilities and a thick cluster of 12 analog oscillators at 2 per voice. Easy and intuitive programming via front panel sliders, knobs and buttons for all your tweaking needs.

A few minor scuffs here and there as you can expect for something which is nearly thirty years old, but nevertheless - this is a incredible analog synth beast which has been regularly serviced at James Walker’s Synthrepair. He actually commented it was one of the best that he had come across. A reluctant sale but my workflow has changed over the past year and i've gone back to an ITB setup.

The Europa firmware upgrade gives the JP-6 an up-to-date and deeply comprehensive MIDI implementation. All parameters are controllable via Continuous Controller or SysEx. Europa also features an extensive arpeggiator which will sync to MIDI clock with programmable clock divisors and rhythms, and has about 50 more playback variations than the JP-6's original Up, Down, Up/Down, and Down/Up. A Europacized Jupiter-6 is a thoroughly modern synth with a classic sound, great for sound design and will only go up in value."

Continuum Fingerboard Expressive Soundtrack Synth : #Jamuary2019 : 11

Published on Jan 11, 2019 cuckoomusic

Some creepy dolls and mannequins to start your weekend!

"For day 11 of Jamuary I wanted to do something special. All of this is performed on the magically expressive Continuum Fingerboard, with just a slight touch of EQ and compression here and there. It is, in my opinion, the king of expressive hardware synthesisers, by far. I mean, by several generations. By several leagues. Nothing even comes close.

Gear used: Continuum Fingerboard, by Haken Audio
Recorded in: Logic Pro X, with a tad of extra reverb.
FabFilter VST's used: Pro-Q3 (EQ), Pro-L (limiter), Pro-C (compressor), Pro-M (multiband compressor)"

AE Challenge 1 - Envelope as Oscillator

Published on Jan 11, 2019 TheTechnobear

"AE Modular - Patch Challenge 1

Theme: create sound from a module which is not an oscillator.

http://forum.aemodular.com/thread/145...

This short track uses AE modular to create a bass line that uses an envelope as a sound source!
(bass line is heard throughout, but most obvious during intro and end)

The basic idea is that an envelope can be triggered at 'audio rate' via its gate input, and output is then an audio waveform that can be shaped using the envelopes shaping parameters (attack/decay).
to add more variation, I used two square wave oscillators (2OSC) to drive gate 1 and 2,
the oscillators were at different frequencies, and I also modulated the pulse width with an LFO.

other sounds are coming from my eurorack modular.
some FX added in Ableton.

the video is just a handheld iPhone video of the gear used, and some visuals generated on the C&G Organelle.
Its only 720p as im testing out Lightworks as a video editor for the first time :)"

Published on Jan 10, 2019 Machiwoomiapoo

"I love the layering capabilities of 8 DX7 synthesizers at the same time. The TX-816 is an amazing vintage synthesizer. I manage to record 8 patches at the same time with the Zoom R24 then I mixed, added effects, and mastered it with Reaper. It's my first time to use a DAW. It sure was nice to add individual effects to each patch. Please subscribe, share, and leave feedback. Please help me make it to 1,000 subscribers! I'm SO close. Thanks for all your support. Take care, Sam."
