Sequential Synth Tips With David Delgado: Pro 3 Evolving Bassline

video upload by Sequential

"Welcome back to 'Sequential Synth Tips,' where some of our favorite artists share their tips, tricks, and techniques on a Sequential synth. In this episode, we feature producer and DJ David Delgado programming an evolving bassline on the Pro 3.

Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, David Delgado fell in love with music at a very young age, and started DJing when he was only 17 years old. Determined to seek a professional career in the field of electronic music, David went to England to study Sound Engineering at the renowned SAE Institute in London. Soon, David gained a foothold in London's club scene, however after playing various gigs in Berlin, he realized that this was the right place for his music style and decided to move to Germany. With regular appearances in many of Berlin's legendary night clubs, David has confidently established himself in the upper level of the German capital’s underground firmament.

Mort Garson and Moog Music

Interesting bit of synth history today via @moogmusicinc

"Composer, arranger, songwriter, and pioneer of electronic music Mort Garson was born on this day in 1924."

"Mort Garson first encountered Bob Moog and the Moog synthesizer during the 1967 AES Convention in LA as Bob was demonstrating his futuristic innovation. Mort quickly developed an affinity for the instrument and its application to his growing interest in avant-garde arrangements."

"Soon after, he purchased his own Moog synthesizer—one of the first ever made.

Over the next decade, the composer used his Moog synthesizer on countless jingles, television programs, commercials, and film scores, including music for the televised 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing."

"Join us in celebrating Mort Garson today with “An Ode to Plantasia: For Mort Garson and the People Who Love Him,” a series of ambient modular explorations performed by electronic artist Patricia:" [previously posted here]

Virt Vereor, Sinc Vereor, and Ruina VST, AU, and AAX Public Beta | Noise Engineering

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Virt Vereor, Sinc Vereor, and Ruina VST, AU, and AAX Public Beta | Noise Engineering
The Freequel Bundle plugins are officially in public beta, available FREE now at the Noise Engineering Customer Portal. The Freequel bundle includes two beautiful synths and a truly epic multi-distortion.
Learn more at https://www.noiseengineering.us/blog/...

Sinc Vereor packs a powerful punch into a tiny package. The intuitive and inviting controls will make sound design a breeze. Blend between familiar waveforms like saw, triangle, and square. Super mode adds 6 phase-offset oscillators. Use Noise mode to generate self-similar noise for percussion, effects, and more. The Vereor section is our easily manipulated dynamics section using an ADSR envelope controlling a variable slope and analog-inspired multimode gate/filter. Add to that a vintage-inspired chorus and a library of presets. Loosely based on Noise Engineering’s beloved Eurorack module Sinc Iter, Sinc Vereor will astound with its versatility.

Virt Vereor is a powerful synthesizer that is as easy to use as it is unique and fun to play. Choose between a quadrature algorithm, a supersaw-inspired beast, or an additive algorithm with spectral control and distortion of partials. The Virt section is combined with the Vereor envelope/multi-mode gate/filter section and chorus. Virt Vereor makes a tremendous number of unique sounds with an immediate and usable interface.
Ruina is a creative stereo distortion plugin built on digital distortion algorithms. Run any sound through Ruina for warm, lush distortion, or crank the sliders to unleash complete destruction. Ruina has a wavefolder, a multiband saturator, a chaotic suboctave generator, octavizer, and phase shifter. It also features a notch or bandpass filter with adjustable tracking, and a control to set the order of the distortions in the signal flow to further customize your sound. Last but not least, Overdrive adds up to 128x gain for maximal destruction. With seven distortion types and fully automatable controls, it’s easy to turn your sounds into something new and unique with Ruina.

Don’t feel like tweaking the parameters? All our plugins come with tons of presets to fit any need, and a randomize button to play around on the fly.
Whether you need pads, leads, bass, or a distortion unlike any other, the Freequel Bundle has something for you."

SoC+FPGA Synthesizer

video upload by Laura Regan

"This is a demonstration of my final degree project for my Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering. For my project I designed a digital music synthesizer on a SoC+FPGA, the Zynq 7020, on a Zedboard development board. All audio synthesis and digital signal processing is performed in real time on custom hardware modules designed in VHDL using Xilinx Vivado.

The synthesizer includes the following modules:
- Numerically Controlled Oscillator
- ADSR envelope generator
- Numerically Controlled Amplifier
- Numerically Controlled Filter
- Low Frequency Oscillator
- Mixer

The synthesizer has a polyphony of 128 voices. The filter is a digital implementation of the famous Moog Ladder filter. Control of the synthesizer's modules is managed by the on-chip ARM processor. The processor also receives commands from the synthesizer's interfaces. A virtual interface was designed in Qt and a physical interface was designed using the on-chip XADC for reading the values of the interfaces dials. A MIDI interface PCB was designed to allow MIDI equipment such as keyboards to be connected to the synthesizer.

In the video the effects of multiple modules are demonstrated, the virtual interface was used to control the synthesizer and Digilent's WaveForms oscilloscope was used to view the synthesizer's output."

Patch Tuesday: Subharmonics Generator with Contour 1

video upload by Joranalogue Audio Design

VAI 34 Wersimatic II / Farfisa Syntorchestra

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"Analog auto-accompaniment machine produced by the German organ manufacturer Wersi sometime in the mid-70s. Originally part of a big, dual manual organ called Helios, this auto-comp section was probably removed from the organ and squeezed into a Teak cabinet, crammed with circuit boards, all beautifully snug inside - a very good job by whoever built it.

You control the harmony and key with the black 12 buttons on the front replacing the one octave that was probably at the bottom 12 keys of the organ.

The Wersimatic II has sections on board: Bass
Drum machine
Various chord sounds

Melody played on the Farfisa Syntorchestra String machine and Mono synth.

Big thanks to Organfairy who helped us find the right schematics to repair it.

Vintage Audio Institute Italia is a gear vendor and recording studio in the hills of Florence."
