Goodnight Betty - A Modular Synthesizer Tribute to Betty White

video upload by Charles Eck

"When I was a kid, I use to go to my Grandma Mina's house and stay up late watching the Golden Girls, Night Court and Gilligan's Island. My Mamita Mina would always let me stay up way past my bedtime and I loved her for that. Fast forward all these years later and of course, on the last night of my winter break from work, instead of going to bed early to get a good night's rest, I stayed up late playing with bleeps and bloops on my synth rack. I then had the idea of sampling Betty White's voice and stumbled across a clip of Betty reading the children's story "Goodnight Moon" at the following link:

The soundbite was too good to pass up so I sampled it then incorporated it into a #Synthesizer improv session. It's not perfect by any means, but a tribute to a remarkable woman who brought so much joy to many and lived one hell of a life. This one is for you Betty and Mamita Mina.

I call this piece, 'Goodnight Betty.'"

Zenith Vol 3 - Patches 1 to 32 - Novation PEAK/Summit

video upload by GEOSynths

"Out Soon...

It's been a while since I sat down with the Novation PEAK and decided to make Zenith Vol 3, which also works for the Novation Summit. Again, another 128 Patches, however with Vol 2 I concentrated on using the additional Wavetables for the Patches, so had a more "Digital" edge, however with Vol 3, I've just made Patches that I want to hear, play and put into Music.

There's Analog Pads, Poly's, lots of Motion Pads and Stringers. Plenty of Bass & Lead and some beautiful Digital Soundscapes. All 128 Patches have Animate Buttons assigned, often to multiple parameters, as well as Aftertouch and Mod Wheel.

They are compatible with the latest Firmware form Novation (V2.1)

Strymon phaser shootout: Zelzah vs Mobius (no talk)

video upload by Richard DeHove

"The Strymon Zelzah phaser vs the Strymon Mobius is a music-only comparison for hardcore phaser fans! There aren't too many true stereo in and out phasers and Strymon have two of them. I bought the Zelzah first and have been very happy with it, but after buying the Mobius I've begun to question whether I really need the Zelzah as well. But can the multi-effect Mobius do as well as a dedicated phaser? Here I've tried to match the sounds reasonably closely and mainly stick to 4 and six stage examples. The Zelzah can also do chorus and flanging but it seemed to be stretching things a bit to go there as well so I've stuck with the phaser. Both units were set to maximum stereo width for the entire demo.

Conclusions are up to the listener but to my ears they sound very similar. The Zelzah at times had a brighter and cleaner edge that I couldn't get on the Mobius, but the Mobius was able to get a much deeper effect which I often had to dial back to match the Zelzah. The synth used for the demo is the Rev2 8-voice.

Korg Prologue | sounds by Jexus (B-Roll) VID 2

video upload by Jexus (

Part 1 with how to contact Jexus to order sound packs in this post.

"No talking demo of Korg Prologue. All patches custom-made by Jexus. I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, phasers, noises and other effects are part of the Prologue engine & my intentional patch design. I did not use the onboard LF Comp but I used some slight EQing on some patches. I recorded my demo straight through an audio card. This is a standard factory Prologue unit – you don’t need any custom oscillators, FX or other addons (just the factory „Waves” oscillator).
