Metunar Live Set - Fresh Paint - Track 08

video upload by Metunar

"Last track of my Modular Synthesizer Live Set from 2022.
There are 2 more tracks of this project, but i skiped the video for them.

Project = Fresh Paint
Song = Track 08
Stile = Some kind of Electro.
Setup = The Dave Rossum sampler Assimil8or plays 8 loops with different length. In the modular i mix these loops live together and add some effects. For the voice track i used a C64 Sam speech software emulation.
This set can also be used with a quadrophonic PA.

Buchla LEM218 V3

This one in via brian comnes aka baghead.

Description via Buchla. See the dealers on the right for availability.

"The third iteration of one of the most used touch interfaces, the 218, as the LEM218v3: The 218e version3 Lunar Excursion Module. The first design appeared in the 1973 release of the Buchla Music Easel and named for the spacecraft that delivered astronauts to the moon. Providing the familiar piano key layout for this early mobile music machine, the additional controls and capabilities were an interface for exploring uncharted musical territory. With the new version 3, it’s been updated with a new foundation of stable, modern electronics and plenty of inputs and outputs to integrate with your Buchla, MIDI, and Eurorack gear.

MIDI Polyphony, Velocity & More!
More than just MIDI compatible, the LEM 218 v3 gives you a unique interface to playing your existing MIDI gear and soft synths. Each touch outputs note name, channel pressure, and velocity for every note, along with sustain controls from a pedal. Polyphonic MIDI mode lets you play chords. The touchstrip can act as a pitch bend control, or as a mod wheel for additional expressive control. Easily configured using the front panel controls, you can send notes and controls on any MIDI channel. Send the LEM some MIDI, and it gets converted to voltages and gates for eurorack and Buchla control.

Capacitive Magic
The incredible sensitivity and accuracy of the redesigned touch bed means the lightest touch will produce triggers and control voltage for your setup. The adjustable sensor has the dynamic range and durability to handle your playing. The new texture not only improves the sensing, but provides a satisfying tactile experience. As always, pressure is an expressive output, adding an extra dimension to the control. MIDI outputs velocity and polyphony, as well as channel pressure, making the LEM218 a uniquely expressive controller for all your synthesizers. The configurable touchstrip adds a fantastic addition for pitch bend or as an additional modulator to patch into your system

Get More For Your Euro
Even if you don’t have any Buchla products, the LEM 218 v3 is designed to work with your Eurorack-compatible gear. Four 3.5mm jacks output 1v/octave pitch, 0-8 volts pressure, touchstrip voltage, and gate outputs for use with Eurorack equipment. Or, combine your Euro with your Buchla instruments. If NATO can do it, so can you. The sound design possibilities will blow your mind

Arpeggiate
A pulse input allows the arpeggiator to be driven by external inputs and are allowed to interact with the automated notes to make the pattern more complex. Additional controls allow you to blend different patterns and randomness to easily change from the expected to the surprising

Control
The classic preset voltage knobs offer several possible ways to shift your sounds into new territory. Not only can the knobs be used for quick access to voltages for your patch, they can control arpeggiation modes and octave shifting. Pads output pulses for additional control

Set It Up Your Way
Such a unique device will spark many ideas. With easy front panel configuration, you can quickly customize the velocity and pressure sensitivity, MIDI channel, knob behavior, and more. No cumbersome software setups, just simple settings with the keys and knobs, and you’re ready to play."

"Three ambient live sessions with the Korg DW-8000 plus Stereoping Synth Controller. Each Jam is based on only one simple chord. The controller allows not only filter modulation, but also musical switching of oscillator waveforms.
Love both - DW-8000 and the Stereoping tool. 100% original audio (plus some Valhalla Supermassive, a freeware fx plugin)."

"Quick demo to showcase a custom built Farfisa Partner 14 drum machine.
100% analog sounds.
Plays through the analog BBD chrous / delay Roland DC-50"

via this auction

"One-of-a-kind drum machine.

It"s a rhythm unit ripped from a 70s farfisa spinet organ and built in a custom case (trying to remain faithful to the original look).

Classic analog drum sounds like the ones you get out of the many boxes of that area (Roland TR77, Ace Tone FR-1 FR-2 FR-8, Hammond Auto Vari etc etc)

14 rhythms, controls for tempo and volume.

Mono Jack output and running on 12v DC (power supply is not provided. It works with any 12v DC positive center power suppl). Perfectly working."

Anthony Baldino - Qu - Bit Artist Spotlight

video upload by Qu - Bit

"We start our Artist Spotlight series off with none other than Anthony Baldino.
Anthony has been a member of the Qu-Fam for a long time, and has been innovating in sound design for even longer. In this intimate interview, Anthony takes us back to the beginning, talks Qu-Bit modules and workflows, and then treats us to a deep and varied performance.

BIO:
Born and raised in New York, Anthony Baldino is a composer and sound designer based in LA whose work spans an enormous range of production avenues. The likelihood that you haven't heard his work is nearly impossible with music and sound design in too many trailer campaigns to list. With Prometheus, Interstellar, Ex-Machina, Star Wars: Rogue One and Avengers: Infinity War just to name a few.

From there his work ventures to the opposite pole of production with custom sound design based compositions for Dolby Labs mixed in Atmos, beautifully glitched out remixes and continues on to mind bending modular synthesizer performances.

Fairfield Circuitry Roger That - probing for sounds on synth (no talk)

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Not many pedals are designed to be played. Usually you just dial in a sound and then play or tweak something else. The Fairfield Circuitry 'Roger That' wants to be tweaked. Its controls can be very sensitive for something so brutal. Here I don't try to give a "showcase" of sound but more a feeling of what it's like to tweak the pedal. Sometimes tiny movements give drastic changes, other times you sweep a knob and nothing much happens. I was initially very excited for the CV input but it often seemed to have little effect. OTOH an external LFO (or perhaps Schlappi Engineering's similarly conceived Interstellar Radio) would probably be a much better CV source.

There's no nice stuff here, it's all grinding tones and noise and it gets worse (better?) as it goes along until it ends with a Throbbing Gristle style tribute. But I like the Roger That. It's hardcore distortion generated in a new way and without the high noisefloor which usually comes with traditional distortion. Good raw material for sampling and looping. Roger That was bought by me with my own money at full price. Fairfield did include a handwritten postcard though so that was nice.

And by the way, you know the (British) slang meaning of "Roger That" don't you? :D

LoFi Future - VGA FX Experimenter - Desktop VGA to RCA adapter

video upload by LoFiFuture

"The first batch of 30 will be ready to ship mid march, available to pre-order here: https://lofifuturestore.square.site/p...

This demo features the prototype PCBs of the VGA FX EXPERIMENTER (with the misspelling, oops!) this has been fixed for the production PCBs.

The VGA FX EXPERIMENTER is a desktop utility module that allows you to process HD VGA signals (or HDMI with some cheap converters) through your existing standard definition composite analog glitch processors.

Each channel features:

- level control

-momentary button that maxes out the level with just a press (great performance tool)

- a FX bypass switch (to bypass the FX box you have connected to that channel)

- a link button (these can link any of the RGB channels together to create interesting colour effects)

- a CV input that responds to positive CV or gate inputs to lower or mute that channel (the higher the CV signal, the lower the channel level)

Its a great way to experiment with analog HD video, just grab a couple of VGA / HDMI converter boxes and you can process HDMI video as analog signals and then convert them back to HDMI for convenience.

No need for a TBC what so ever! The sync signals on VGA are isolated on their own wires and not effected by this device at all. You can glitch as heavy as you want and it will come out as a valid signal. A game changer for VJs and live glitch artists who dont want to lug around a big video mixer, TBC or even a CRT and a Camera. All of which I have lugged in an out of taxis enough to yearn for a better solution!"

"Swimming In Copper" - (Eventide Misha Adventures)

video upload by Electronisounds Audio

"I got the urge to make something with a really dramatic, melodic lead line - so I paired up the Eventide Misha sequencer with the Modbap Modular Osiris oscillator, the Eventide H90 pedal, and The Godfather multi-channel audio processor from Enjoy Electronics to get there! WOOT! Really happy with how this one came out - the Polyend Play is a fantastic sequencer and Groovebox that helped me sequence and arrange everything! All Sounds from the Play are from my sound bank, "The Sandbox".

Recording Date: 02/02/2023
Tempo: 104bpm

One of my favorite 80s songs
Christopher Cross - Sailing (1980)
'Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be. Just a dream and the wind to carry me'

I used here the Oberheim OB-X for the main theme sound (like in the original song) and the string pad sound And I used the Yamaha DX7 II for the guitar sound.
Piano: Yamaha Reface CP played with the Oberheim Xk
Bass Synth: Moog The Source

The Oberheim OB-X Synthesizer is one of the big legendary synths in music history. Different in sound to all later OB synths like OB-Xa, OB-8 or the new OB-X8. Here can you find the full OB-X playlist with a lot single sound demos, synth comparisions and one synth demo tracks. Enjoy.

Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about Moog Little Phatty. Did this modern take on the classic Moog formula and one of the last instruments Robert Arthur Moog worked on age well? Can the analog synth engine be tamed with the UI of a MicroKorg?
