Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD-01 KIT PACK 01

Download Link

"This pack contains 32 kits crafted by HRTL to kickstart your next adventure with Pērkons! Install the kits by placing the “01” folder onto your Pērkons SD card BANKS folder. Bank featuring the new kits is named “01” meaning it will replace the second bank you already might have on your Pērkons unit, so if you want to put it into a different BANK just rename the folder (for example to 02) before putting it into the BANKS folder! The pack features just kits and have no patterns in it!

To change the currently loaded BANK press and hold PATTERN+KIT buttons and one of the 64 step keys (to load the 01 BANK press the second step key).

After you enter the kit menu you will see the top 64 step buttons lit. There the kits are structured into four groups of eight kits (from left to right).

1. DRUM (traditional drum-machine sounds)

2. BONK (percussion and synthesizer combos)

3. POLY (tuned melodic percussion sounds)

4. SFX (experimental and generative sounds)

The remaining 32 kits in the bank are empty and reserved for your own kits and variations of the presets.

Tip: Let your pattern loop and try to swap between the kits into the beat!

Have fun!"

El Capistan V2: New user setup and walkthrough

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Strymon's El Capistan tape delay version 2 pedal has configuration options that need to be adjusted if you're using line level instruments or MIDI. There are also secondary sound tweaking controls that can make a huge difference to the sound. Happily everything is either set-and-forget or very straightforward.
This is part one of a two-part tutorial. Part 2 will explore the looper and more advanced MIDI functionality.

Digital Keyboards Synergy From 1982

video upload by Bata

"Messing around with some sounds on the DK Synergy. This is the MK1 version so no MIDI and no connectivity to the old Kaypro computers that work with the MK2. I have a couple cartridges for it with extra sounds one programmed by Wendy Carlos called Bells/Whistles and one called VCart2 which has some drum sounds and other things. I play a few of those sounds here along with some of the stock presets. It has a cool but weird 4 track sequencer so it's possible to sequence 4 different sounds and play a 5th over top. No way to sync it with other gear though."

Thought it was interesting they have different serial number formats.

"If you have never heard about these, imagine a sax player controlling monosynth based on 2 Curtis CEM3394.

2 x EWV-2000
1 x EWI-1000

First unit is near mint, comes in original old box, works flawlessy.

Second unit has some scrathes and it's obvioulsly gigged but works and sounds great.

Wind controller works as should (tested on both units), has some tape and residue for covering brand which I didn't try to remove. Comes without multipin cable."

"This is a truly legendary synth, that has arguably inspired entire genres of music. I still see them being used live by the likes of Sasha and Overmono, because it's simply unsurpassed in terms of the sounds it can create. This is the 37-key white-coloured Polar TI variant, which has a lovely keybed and mod-wheels, over and above the controls on the module which is shown in the video below.

It has virtual analog, FM, and morphing wavetable oscillators, and there are three in total, plus a sub oscillator — it's then 16-part multi-timbral, so it simply sounds like nothing else. There are loads of LFOs and literally any control can be mapped to a mod-source in the matrix."

Access Virus TI VS Access Virus B (DSP56300 Emulator)

video upload by Eyezer Productionz Sound Design

"For a long time, there has been a debate about the sound being different throughout the Access Virus series. Some say that the pre-TI versions sounds different or 'better' than the TI. Of course this makes sense to some extent because the TI has more features, while the older models have fewer features (although the Virus B/C have 16 voices of global unison, which the TI hasn't). So what I decided to do was to play mostly Virus B patches on both the B and TI, to hear if they sound different or not.

What I noticed during this test was some of the patches sounds identical on both models, while some patches sound notably different (I picked the ones that sound notably different for this video). I don't know exactly why that is. What I do know is that the reverb sounds brighter in the Virus B, but I don't know how much else is potentially different. Supposedly, the sound engine is the same throughout the Virus series, which probably is true but I suppose perhaps Access have done some slight changes whenever a new model was released. For example, the first patch in the video, AutoBend BC, sounds the same on the Virus C and the TI, but different on the Virus B.

Next time, I will start from scratch and do some of my own patch programming.
