Sonicware LIVEN Ambient Ø and Prophet Rev2 | Dreamy ambient experimentation [NO TALK]

video upload by Le Code

"Two worlds meet for an ambient improvisation: on the one hand, Sonicware's LIVEN Ambient Ø plays random notes, and on the other, the soundscape pads played by Sequential's Prophet Rev2. With these two machines, it's possible to create rather convincing soundscapes, perhaps with the addition of extra effects on the LIVEN Ambient Ø, which sounds a little dry here."

Background Modulars No.7 - Buchla 200

video upload by Memetune Studio

"Don’t have a Buchla 200 to hand? No worries! Just put this video on in the background (in full-screen mode), and have the next best thing 😁

Here is 10 minutes of self-playing modular synthesiser randomness. Why not put it on loop - then you can have it bubbling away in the background while you do other things. Or maybe check out the playlist I have made with all the Background Modular Series videos: [playlist below]

A note on the patch. A 281 provides the clock for the whole thing, firstly making the percussion noises which sound a bit like fireworks going off. Then the clock runs the MARF which is providing the slow notes underneath. These are in stereo, all being moved about with random generators. There's two delays in there (288 and 277), and the Spectral Processor too. Its a bit hard to remember what I did because I kind of just kept patching until I ran out of Bananas ( I've got more, but they are being used on the Serge for something else)

Enjoy!"

Can You Feel It?/Fingers Inc - Novation Circuit Tracks & Rhythm duo version.

video upload by Guinan

"As promised a slightly expanded version of this track (following the 120BPM Fingers Inc version with samples). Once again it is just the headphone out, no extra processing, played 'live' direct into my phone. Hope you like it! (and again let me know if there is a particular House classic you think would work well)

Synth nerd details below;

Having the Circuit Rhythm beside the Tracks let me split out some of the drum tracks. I let the Rhythm take over the drums to allow for muting/unmuting of all the drum tracks and it runs in tighter sync. Huge shout out to Gabe Miller's videos showing how to run these two machines together and what a great pairing they can be.
• Combining BOTH Novation Circuits (Tra... [posted here]

Basically the audio out from the Tracks (on the left) goes to the audio in of the Rhythm (on the right). The MIDI out from the Rhythm controls the Tracks and syncs both - even allowing simultaneous Project switching (not shown here).

The lead line is sampled from the Circuit Tracks synth.

The main thing you can see me switching is Scenes (which can preset levels and muting for a number of tracks) and I also play some of the velocity sensitive pads live."

ambient talkie: ep 54 - CROW a basic overview

video upload by tworoundrobins

"i got myself monome crow for the purpose of connecting norns to my eurorack. at first I didn't fully understand the amazing capabilities you get with this particularly small scriptable module, but I'm very glad I took a deeper dive and see the potential it can bring to smaller cases and the likes.

this is a very basic and simple overview that might give some explanation to those that always wondered what this module actually does.

Diving into Yamaha Montage M8X' AWM2 engine and Motion Sequencer, to fix that "Goblin" patch

video upload by Floyd Steinberg

"I'm learning my #yamahamontage M8X at the moment, and I found the implementation of the "Goblin" patch somewhat unexpected on this machine. So in order to memorize the user interface, I decided to make my own version of that patch and see what the #awm2 #synth engine can do on this keyboard. This video shows basic subtractive synth techniques like amplitude and filter envelopes, different oscillator and filter types, but also shows the unique "motion sequencer" taking control of one of the oscillators to create a "sparkling" sound. Table of contents:

00:00 short preview so you know what to expect
00:15 hello / but why?
02:21 Element 1: a warm pad
02:58 select a wave / sample
03:35 low pass filter / filter envelopes
05:19 amp envelope
05:53 amp/pitch/filter lfo
06:48 Element 2: a filtered "choir" sound
07:30 band pass filter and envelopes
08:40 amp/pitch/filter lfo
09:20 amp envelope
09:48 Element 3: a wind sound
10:02 white noise
10:30 band pass filter and envelopes
11:25 amp/pitch/filter lfo
11:31 adjusting "oscillator" volumes with those faders
11:55 Element 4: a sparkling sound
12:15 selecting another saw wave
12:32 high pass filter and lfo
13:14 adding a motion sequence: control and destination assignment
13:55 setting up a curve
14:20 using that curve in the motion sequencer
14:54 adjusting filter cutoff frequency and removing the filter envelope so the motion sequence can be heard
15:42 setting up a sequence of curves
16:21 adjusting the lfo to change the motion sequence over time
17:15 adding insert effects
18:07 global effects setup
18:57 finished patch demo and conclusion

"Here's a great sounding, all-analog, vintage drum machine from the 1970s that features some really great beats, incredibly warm and fat tones and a good amount of variation due to the fact you can combine any two of the different presets to create even more patterns as well as a variation knob that allows you to play the bass drum only, snare only and switches that allow you to toggle between 2 beat rhythms and 4 beat rhythms for even more inspiring variations. Your studio/performances need this awesome machine!"

Dynacord EC-280 analog BBD echo / reverb (+ Elka OMB5)

video upload by ohm_studi_ohm

"EC280 FOR SALE HERE: https://www.ebay.com/itm/306026834216
https://reverb.com/item/86584891/

Here is an overview of this singular analog delay. The EC280 was allegedly the very first bucket brigade device delay around. I don't know about that but it was the first Dynacord released and it paved the way for their futur classic units like VRS 23, SRS 56 or TAM 19 / 21.
What makes this unit special is the use of BBD chipsets to create reverb spaces. The result are totally unatural reverbs but that are extremely deep and beautiful. The sound is dark and dense, and a bit gritty, you wont't get very define repetition out of this echo unit but it really glues the instrument you run into it. It further has a 'chorus" level that acts peculiarly too since you can't set the time of the chorus, it is tied to the delay 'speed'. With this chorus knob, fast speed setting and high feedback level ('regeneration') you almost go to flanger territories.
A very unique device it is."

"This is the rare first non tape delay produced by Dynacord. It uses 8 Philips TDA 1022 bucket brigade device chipsets and offers echo and reverb mode, along with some kind of modulation labelled chorus, very much like the modulation that will be found later on in units like Dynacord VRS23, Yamaha E1010 or Ibanez AD202, here in its simpliest form, the speed of the modulation cannot be set and is tied to the speed of the delay, thus giving some very strange possible effect. The sound is very deep and dark, the reverb mode in particular is magnificient.

The unit was serviced: every single electrolityc capacitors were replaced, everything was cleaned and it is calibrated. It is in fully working order and in very good cosmetic condition, with only minor signs of wear."

CPM DS 2 Filter and Waveshapes

video upload by Stylophone

"Introducing the first of our compact portable modular (CPM) range, the Stylophone DS-2 Analog Drone Synth. Your portal to endless soundscapes, pulsating rhythms, and cosmic exploration.

0:00 - Filter 1 and 2 are set to different types (LP and HP) and are slowly controlled by the Ultra LFO in different directions to create a phaser like sound.
1:00 - Filter 2's resonance is set to maximum and patched into filter 1's cutoff input. This creates vibrato when filter 2's cutoff is low but metallic tones as it's turned up.
2:12 - The whole output of drone 2 is controlling filter 1's cutoff in a similar way to the previous patch but this time osc 1 cannot be heard, instead only the self resonating output of filter 1 is audible creating some discordant sounds.
3:15 - Waveshapes and filter cutoffs are modulated with the Ultra LFO so only tonal variation is produced. Tweaking the time knob with delay set to max creates a chaotically wonky effect."

Zoxnoxious: The Four Voice Cards

video upload by Ultratroninator 3000

"Four voice cards developed (so far!). And their VCV Rack interfaces.

Up til now the voice cards were named based on the analog chip the card was designed around. The Z3340 for the Curtis / Alfa Rpar 3340 VCO, Z3372 for the Curtis / AS3372 chip, and the Z5524 for the Curtis / Alfa Rpar 3394 + SSI2130 (3394 + 2140 = 5524). A boring but technically accurate description.

The most recent card could have been named Z2140, for the SSI2140 filter chip. Or 2040, after the SSM chip it originated from. Z4330 would have also been acceptable given it's core function is SSI2140 + SSI2190 chips. However, nothing better describes its function than Pole Dancer. It's a rarity and deserves a name better describing the function. Take a great sounding analog filter, add voltage controlled mixing of the filter poles, and you've got the Pole Dancer. This voice card does a good job of realizing many many filter types. Lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch, allpass. Along with morphing between them. Not to mention it has options for resonance compensation, something not present on other '2140 implementations. So boom. Baby. Boom.
