New STG Soundlabs Wave Slicer/.SLC Audio Demo

Published on Nov 8, 2019 suitandtieguy

"A brief demonstration of the forthcoming STG Soundlabs Wave Slicer/.SLC module. This video focuses on single oscillator applications but there will be future videos about multi-oscillator and other audio applications, control voltage, and even video synthesis applications.

This video was shot in one take at STG Content Labs, using a television-style process including two cameras, an oscilloscope with direct video output, and a vision mixer. I set up the cameras and lighting, and Bubba Ayoub was technical director (the television term for the guy who operates the vision mixer.) This process is pretty exciting to me as I worked at a UHF ABC affiliate (WHOI-19) for two years back before I built synthesisers.

I finally feel like I'm 20 minutes into the future.

Jon Sonnenberg engineered this module, and you can find his Knobcon Number Six talk about wave replacement synthesis here:" [posted here]

Select Bus Breakout/Storage/Test Module

Published on Nov 4, 2019 freshnelly

"The mystery continues!! The very useful Select Bus or modular MIDI CV line bus has a lack of masters so I decided to make a module while waiting for the PCB's for the Melisma & Sequarallel to get here (which will both have Select Bus features).

Not sure about the zoom feature. I saw it work somewhere but now can't find that video and thought there was a certain MIDI message for that but can't find that either. Basically I'm calling out for help on zoom!
I'm going to drop it into the demo rack soon enough so will video findings then."

FSR 1U - Force Sense Resistor

Published on Nov 4, 2019 Intellijel

"The Intellijel FSR, or Force Sense Resistor, is an expressive touch pad that can be used to control your patches in a number of ways. It offers a CV output that responds to changes in pressure on the pad by outputting up to five volts, along with a gate output that holds open as long as the pad is touched. You can either press the pad to modulate elements in your patches, or tap it to trigger things. However you use it, it's sure to add a personal touch to your sound.

Flame Instruments Crossmix -Dual Crossfader recorder

Published on Nov 1, 2019 Dziam Bass

"Today I have another movie with the newest recorder from Flame Instruments.
Crossmix allows you to enter two audio sources or a CV, and do a cross between them and record it, then automatically play it in a loop mode or as you prefer as one shot.
Here I used Polyend Preset as the sequencer and two separately voices from the Noisy Oscillator from Modor module.
For this I used the Altar filter from Ritual for one voice and for the other I also used the X-4 module from Flame -Quad envelope vca for EG. I wanted both voices to be different so that you could see the cross recording.

New BugBrand PT Delay and Penrose

"Two new modules have been released - the PT Delay and Penrose.

the PT is a compact delay along the lines of the larger red design but without the extra trimmings of preamp & filtering

the Penrose is a great open-source quantizer by Sonic Potions with keyboard buttons for scale selection"

Updated BugBrand CrossOver Filter & Expander

"The CrossOver Filter has undergone a large upgrade and now re-enters regular production. While it looks the same from the outside (bar the line on the yellow Drive control changing from white to black) the insides have been completely updated - the main new features being that the input is now balanced and I added voltage control to the resonance/Q (accessible via a planned 2FW Expander), along with general improvements at a circuit level. My personal setups always feature a COFilter and PTDelay on mixer aux sends - the COFilter adding all manner of tonal playfulness - subtle or extreme frequency enhancements or eliminations."

"Pura Ruina is a three-stage CV-controlled fully-hyphenated full-wave rectifier/distortion designed for audio. Simple waveforms can be manipulated into completely new and exciting tones, and already-complex sounds can be shredded into sonic oblivion. Add some CV and you’ll never want to let PR out of your rack!

Each stage has an individual level control with corresponding CV and individual out, as well as feeding to the universal Sum output. PR’s rectification creates a unique flavor of distortion unlike standard wavefolding or clipping.

The possibilities are virtually endless: add to a west-coast style complex oscillator setup for unique timbral shaping, annihilate a percussion mix through it, run its individual outs through other Ruina modules for further mayhem...

You’ll never run out of awesome things to try, we promise. You know you want one."

noodlebox serendipity sequencer prototype by six4pix

Published on Oct 24, 2019 While We Were Sleeping

00:00 - noodlebox on
00:05 - Fist noodle - My first go on the noodlebox. part of an Instagram live video.
02:39 - Two Layers - An example of one layer modifying another (details below)
03:12 - In the six4pix studio - Jason showing me around the noodlebox. You will be joining us mid-conversation and It's just to give an idea, not a tutorial.

noodlebox Details:
-----------------------------
My good friend Jason gave me a noodlebox prototype so I can help test it :)

In the video, I have the noodlebox MIDI synced to my MPC Live and sends CV and Gate to control a bassline on my eurorack.

The software for the noodlebox is at an early stage and features and functionality can change.

noodlebox Layers:
The noodlebox is a 4 layers sequencer where layers can be though of as tracks. each has an individual midi channel and CV/Gate. Layers can be used to modify each other (Like transpose example at 2:39). Layers can have their own signatures and length. You can drag the start to end points in both directions to create a loop of varies length and directions.

noodlebox pages:
Each layer can also have 4 pages (versions) that can be stringed together at any order and number of repeats (like a song mode)

All this and other features can be used to noodle together vary complex and long patterns.

More Videos details
---------------------------------
in the two layers examples 02:39 we use 2 layers each with a 4 note pattern.
The first playing a simple 4 note pattern.
The second also 4 notes long but at a slow clock division, transposing the first layer.
We are using the trigger of the first layer to trigger the VCA envelope and the transposed CV from the second layer to control the pitch.

PM Foundations 6080 VCF Demo

Published on Oct 22, 2019 Randy Piscione

"This is a demo of a new Eurorack voltage controlled filter (VCF) from PM Foundations called the '6080 VCF.' It is based on their 2Q12 VCF, and is available as a panel and PCB combination. You can find it here:

http://www.tindie.com/products/pmfoun..."

"Compact 6HP VCF for Eurorack Modular synthesizers

This is a state variable filter using the same core as our 2Q12 filter but substituting multiple unattenuated F and Q CV inputs with some on board attenutaors. Like the 2Q12, this filter has a nice fat sounding low pass output. The two pole filter has simultaneous -12dB per octave roll-off for high pass and low pass and a -12 db wide (-6dB either side) bandpass output. It has voltage control of cutoff frequency (F) and voltage control of resonance (Q). F and Q are adjustable with panel controls and from external sources using two F CV inputs and a Q CV input. One F CV and the Q CV have attenuators."

Elby Serge ES23 Sequencer-Programmer 4mm

via this auction

via Elby Designs:

"The ES23/ES24 Sequence-Programme is a Serge inpired multi-stage sequencer. Unlike most sequencers, this one makes no use of binary counters. Rather, it uses a set of individual stages, each one directly accessible. As such it could be considered to allow "random access".

The number of programming stages can be increased in blocks of 4 by adding one or more ES24s.

Features include the ability to be used as a push-button manual programmer and/or as a multi-versatile sequencer. The length of sequences can be programmed interactively via the pushbuttons: thus sequence lengths can be changed in performance while a sequence is running. Other sequencing capabilities include RESET, UP/DOWN, HOLD pulse inputs, and a switch to START or STOP the sequencer.

The [PULSE] inputs allow triggers from other modules to turn specific stages on. These inputs require a logis signal greater than 3.5V.

The [Common Pulse] output goes high and remains high while a push button is pushed.

The [All Events Pulse] gives a trigger pulse on any change of stage.

Each stage includes a skip/stop feature. In the [NORMAL] position the stage activates in its sequential position. In the [STOP] position the stage refuses to activate causing the sequence to stop at the stage before, where it will remain until either the sequence is reversed or some other manual override forces the sequence away from the stage. In the [SKIP] position the stage acts as if it was not there, the following enabled stage activating on the next clock pulse. These modes of operation are independently settable in the both the [UP] and [DOWN] directions.

The real power of these shorter length Sequencer Programmers, however, is their use in tandem with one another. Two sequencers are more interesting than one.

They can be phased one against the other with the same or separate clocks. They can be patched to interact with each other, providing an incredibly varied palette of rhythmic patterns. A master unit can control one or more slave sequencers, resulting in highly controllable flurries of tonal sequences being modulated both harmonically and rhythmically."

Klavis Quadigy as an expressive ADSR

Published on Oct 18, 2019 Martin Doudoroff

"An exhaustive exploration of the ADSR features and behavior of Klavis Quadigy Quad Programmable Envelope Generator for Eurorack modular synthesizers.

Addenda:
• I didn’t realize until after the video was done that the PUNCH parameter is considered part of ATTACK for the purposes of the FULL ATTACK mode; so, with FULL ATTACK turned on, you’ll get at minimum the full attack and punch of the envelope; good to know
• I should have clarified that the time value of the HOLD parameter is relative to gate/trigger on, not relative to the end of DECAY
• I should have clarified that the HOLD parameter can be used in conjunction with gates as well as with triggers; with gates, the HOLD parameter effectively sets the minimum duration of the envelope (not including RELEASE)"
