Rob Papen Introduces Blade 2

Rob Papen

And the press release:

Rob Papen sharpens soft synth breakthrough by bringing boosted BLADE-2 to existing bundle owners and wider world beyond

ECHT, THE NETHERLANDS: virtual synthesizer, instrument, and effect plug-in developer Rob Papen Inspiration Soundware is proud to announce availability of BLADE-2 — boosting its original BLADE soft synth with fantastic features making it a dream synth for synth lovers who like to think out of the box while working in the box, and available at no extra cost to existing owners of the company’s expansive eXplorer-6 and sure-fire SoundDesign-X bundles — as of October 28…

When the original BLADE was released back in 2012, it had a unique concept — controlling the waveform harmonics (HARMOLATOR) using its recordable XY PAD, which was a very different approach to additive synthesis, and remains so to this day. Indeed, it was the first Rob Papen soft synth to include this feature, facilitating flexible sound editing, recording, and tempo-based playback. Put it this way: when putting this extraordinary combination into action, BLADE users can creatively generate very different tones — far from the sound of the subtractive synthesis crowd, and even those of other additive synthesizers.

"Moulding conceptual sampling and synthesis into rich thematic instruments, embracing Sci-Fi Noir, Lovecraftian Horror and Steampunk. With its unique sonic lusters and synesthetic character, Acousmatic Engine offers an imaginative and inspiring pallet of color, tone and texture across music and film genres."

via Cymatic Form

"Introducing Acousmatic Engine from the creator of Kinetic Metal and Kinetic Toys.

Probing the uncharted realms of Sci-Fi Noir, Lovecraftian Horror and Steampunk sound worlds with 500 surreal and thematic Kontakt Instruments. Acousmatic Engine is a distinct library of sample instruments with unique sonic lusters, articulations and textures that shape concept and sound design into playable instruments and soundscapes across music and film genres.

Within the 3 stylistic themes (Sci-Fi Noir, Lovecraftian Horror and Steampunk), Acousmatic Engine offers 5 instrument types:

Aerophones: Wind instruments and anything that vibrates with air pressure.
Friction: Anything that acts as resistance of one object or instrument moving over another to produce sound. Bowing, scraping, even pad-like sounds, etc.
Struck: Instruments that are percussive such as bells, pianos or anything that is struck to produce sound or noise.
Soundscapes: Sounds that may or may not be tonal and give a sense of environment or mood.
Machines/Movements: Arpeggiator and sequenced driven patterns or other movements.

Expert Mode:

Explore deeper into the interface to manipulate sounds and create your own imaginative presets. Each instrument offers 8 channels of unconventionally sourced, dynamically layered samples plus 8 channels of multi-dimensional sampled synthesis. There are 3 pages of effects including Shape, Color and Ambience. Quickly and easily sweep through combined effects such as Spectral Filters, Distortion, Modulation and Spatial parameters using the visual XY Effector display.

Interface:

6 Macros allow you to assign any parameter for individual preference for finely tuned performance control. The Warp Wheel (the heart of Acousmatic Engine), allows you to store 3 variations of each instrument and record automation of movements transitioning effortlessly into new sonic dimensions. Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent) Plasmonic Synth Cover

Anthony Distefano

"Trying out Brian Eno's - An Ending (Ascent) using Brian Clevinger's new Plasmonic synth."

Some info on Plasmonic from their Indiegogo page:

"Plasmonic combines the resonant depth of physical modeling with subtractive synthesis. My goal is for Plasmonic to approach the depth and detail of an acoustic instrument, while making it easy to shape the sound into anything you want. Its deep modulation capability and MPE support make it very playable and expressive.

The heart of Plasmonic is a self-oscillating waveguide/multimode ladder filter pair, which can be configured in parallel or in series. Each filter can take any combination of the audio sources as input. This creates some very interesting sonic interactions between the audio source and the feedback loop of the waveguide.

Audio sources include two wavetable oscillators, a sample-based impulse generator (built-in samples only), and a filtered noise generator. Both oscillators have waveform transformations which nicely complement the waveguide. The impulse generator is especially suited for making the waveguide ring.

The master section contains a 3-band EQ, a saturator which can be polyphonic or monophonic, modulated delay effects and a final resonator effect. Like the waveguide, the delay effects are capable of self-oscillation, which can lead to all kinds of sonic mayhem.

Modulation is deep and makes it easy to add detail and life to the sound. Each parameter has a popup panel displaying the depth, polarity and inversion of each modulation source, allowing unprecedented control. Currently there are 5 ADSR envelopes, 3 LFOs, a triggered random source, as well as midi control inputs. Development of the modulation section is evolving rapidly, and I intend to make it as fun and flexible as possible."

TONSTURM Windmaschine

"Introducing WINDMASCHINE - The 'Windmaschine' is a virtual instrument based on the recordings of the very rare Mole- Richardson Windhowler Moleeffect Type 2281.
but of course it goes much further.."

TONSTURM Windmaschine Tutorial Videos

via TONSTURM

"With Windmaschine we are proud to present a playable VSTI that is a faithful reproduction of the Windhowler Mole Effect but also takes it to a whole new level.

The Windhowler is an electrical instrument developed in the 1960s which can produce unique wind sound effects with a very special sound signature. Only a few devices exist and the one the entire planet and luckily we had access to a unit in mint condition. We captured every single detail in order to preserve its sound signature and character.
In combination with our visionary software engine these captured recordings are transformed into a virtual instrument that allows you to go to sonic territories way beyond what the original device is capable of.
Meticulously capturing the original
We invented a way to meticulously capture every possible setting of the original Windhowler hardware. We attached a script controlled stepper motor to the wind speed dial. Each resonator sample set finally consists of 120 short loops that are cross blended in real time when performing WINDMASCHINE.

Perform dynamic wind effects
As on the original hardware everything starts with the resonators.
You can load one of the 19 available resonator sets into each of the four source channels.
The whole sound engine comes to live when performed by our powerful wind modulation system.

Custom Wind FX
The FX section of WINDMASCHINE allows you to tune its sound character to the mood you need. Or to change it drastically.
Tailored Effects invite you to explore different sides of wind.

True Stereo Convolution
Finally everything is set into stage with our beautiful sounding convolution reverb engine.
It comes with custom recorded true stereo impulse responses providing a breath taking sound quality.
Besides nature, exterior and indoor impulse responses we included IR recordings from musical instruments like gongs, sound bowls or cymbals enabling WINDMASCHINE to create lively textures, drones and atmospheres.

Price: $129 introductory price until 27 / Oct / 2020 ($179 thereafter)"

ES101 - Rack Extension for ReasonStudio: a virtual SH-101 with a 2 OP FM oscillator and more

Boing Poum Tchak!

"The ES101 is available at Reason Studios: https://frama.link/es101" And the intro video from Ekssperimental Sounds Studio: Introducing ES101 Analog Synthesizer - Rack Extension

ES101 is the big brother and successor of ES01. Clearly inspired by the architecture of some all time favourite synthesizers it also has new functionality with the 2 OP FM oscillator and the Ring Modulation / Sine oscillator.

Unlike ES01 this beast has self resonating filters that can be finely tuned and modulated from either envelope generators, LFOs or CV signals. Its flexible routing system with mod source selectors for many parameters makes it great for experimental sound design and very fun to use.

Another big difference from ES01 is that ES101 has more CV jacks and mod switches instead of a digital modulation matrix. ES101 also comes with an built in effect bank featuring simple but great sounding drive, chorus, echo and reverb.

ES101 is great for classic synth sounds, gnarly metallic ring modulation sounds, raw and simple FM or a mix of it all. Perfect for EBM, industrial, synthwave and other synth heavy genres!

Experience the sound of the future with ES101.

Soundmanufacture Modular Sequencer - overview / how to start

Soundmanufacture

"This Video shows the basics how modular sequencer works.

0:11 the eight sequencers
0:25 the (internal) Outputs
0:44 patching
2:15 using different channels
2:50 Scales & Scale Correction
3:06 using the modifiers
5:05 random actions and switching things

Thank you!

download at http://www.soundmanufacture.net"

Modular Sequencer is a Max for Live Step Sequencer for Ableton Live 10.
The Modular Sequencer is a very flexible Sequencer, where you can patch every module with any other.

You can create Sequences from concrete & repetitive to totally endless & random.
The eight Sequencers can run in Sync or every single Sequencer can with it's own speed. Four of the eight sequencers are Trigger Sequencers to Trigger or to switch actions. The other four Sequencers can send out Values and Triggers (thru the Threshold)

The Value Sequencers can be assigned free to control the:
• Notes
• Velocity
• Ocatve
• Lenght.
of every of the four Outputs.

On every Output you'll find a Scale Correction, where you are able to create Sequences that always fit into the selected Scale or you can also learn Scales from the MIDI Input.

It also works Hand in Hand with the Chord-O-Mat 3.1 Device (the Update will be available soon) That means the Sequencer can be set up that it will have always the same Scale like Chord-O-Mat. If you change the Scale in Chord-O-Mat the Sequencer will select the same scale & vice versa.

It's also possible, that an Output of the Sequencer can follow the Chordprogression of Chord-O-Mat.

features of modular sequencer

• All Trigger Signals can be routed free from every Output to every Input thru the Patch-chords.
• create Polyphonic Sequences
• 4 internal Outputs where you can assign the Sequencers to the Note, Velocity, Octave & Length
• Scale Correction in every of the four Outputs
• Scaleable GUI from 80% to 140%
• Modulation Section, where you have up to 8 Modulators to invert a signal, probability & filter Triggersteps,
• 4 locical operators, where you can combine the Value of two sequences."

Hypercube VST: Reduce 100+ Synth Parameters to Just 3

Novel Insight Software

https://www.novelinsight.fi

Here is an interesting program in via Novel Insight Software. In short it uses artificial intelligence to pick from all available parameters in creating a three new parameter. The three act as macro controls for the parameters selected and they can change over time. One of the thing that makes the Yamaha DX-200 and the newer Reface DX are the macro controls allowing you to morph multiple FM parameters at the same time. And of course there's the macro knob on the Yamaha MODX series.

The following is what Novel Insight Software had to say about the software:

"We have been developing a new (still beta) software which makes it easier to find new sounds from VST synths. (Novel Insight Hypercube VST).

The freeware software uses machine learning to analyze presets and reduces the number of parameters to three making it easier to find new sounds. Currently VST2 plugins are supported.

The algorithms start from a random starting points so the results are a bit different everytime parameters are calculated, especially when there are no large number of presets available (machine learning methods require large amount of data and typically the number of presets are only in hundreds meaning the results depend on a random starting points).

Software is also quite slow on laptops, it can take 10 minutes or hours to calculate parameter reduction for a single VST instrument. I’m developing GPU acceleration which should speed up calculations significantly."

And via their website where you can find the download and a few demos: https://www.novelinsight.fi

"Hypercube VST is a parameter reducer plugin for VST2 instruments. It reduces the number of synthesizer/effect parameters to just three (3) which makes it easier to find new sounds than changing 100+ parameters that may be available through the normal user interface.

In order to to do parameter reduction a VST module must have roughly more presets of good instruments/effects than there are synthesizer parameters. The existing good presets are used to find "three dimensional space of good sounds", which can be then explored by using only three parameters: X, Y and Z.

Hypercube VST currently supports only 64bit VST2 modules. Support of 64bit VST3 instruments is planned in future releases. This software requires 64bit Windows 10 (earlier versions not tested) and 64bit Java (plugin generator user interface).

Hypercube VST is free to use (freeware) but closed source."

Pendulate Synthesizer Plug-In From Eventide & Newfangled Audio - 100% FREE

The Sound Test Room

"To download Pendulate for free, visit
https://etide.io/pendulate-giveaway.

– For those bored of the same old synth sounds,
Newfangled Audio's Pendulate offers something truly new – and free. Most synthesizers sound
similar because they’re based on the same technologies. Pendulate is refreshingly different – a
chaotic monosynth that uses a brand-new oscillator technique to create previously unheard
sounds – biting basses, searing leads, and gritty textures. Pendulate, distributed by Eventide,
is available for immediate download free of charge.
Pendulate is based on the physics of a double pendulum. What initially looks like randomness
contains underlying patterns, interconnectedness, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, and self-organization. When designing the Pendulate oscillator, great care
was taken to bring out these underlying patterns. The result is an oscillator that can smoothly
fade from a sine wave to total chaos, with an expanse of territory to explore in between.
Pendulate’s chaotic oscillator is matched with a wavefolder and low pass gate inspired by the
ideas of legendary synthesizer designer Don Buchla. These three modules – oscillator,
wavefolder, and gate – combine to make previously inconceivable sounds.
Every parameter in Pendulate’s three modules can be modulated by an included Envelope
Generator or LFO, or by MIDI and MPE sources. The innovative modulation interface allows
users to easily and quickly patch any combination of sources to any destination, creating
sounds that compel the listener to move with them."
