New Kinetik Laboratories ILL-LOGIC Sound Texture Generator

via Kinetik Laboratories

"ILL-LOGIC is a stand alone compact system with semi-modular structure. It can be used to generate complex sound textures.

Using 4mm banana plugs it offers great functional flexibility and small footprint.

It has 12 knobs, 22 connection points, two switches and a red led that reflects the behavior of the noise generator.

The input plugs accept any output allowing you to experience the most of its sonic potential.

It must be supplied with an external power supply, providing 9vDC on 2.1mm barrel jack, negative tip.
ILL-LOGIC comes with a set of 8 banana patch cords.

Price: 450 euro shipping not included.
Build to order, contact:
kinetik.laboratories@gmail.com

The machine structure is divided into four sections:

The noise generator circuit is formed by four oscillators modulating each other and generates similar sounds to those obtainable with cross-modulation technique. Tuning the oscillator pitches allows complex variations in tone and granularity. The switch can be used to obtain a continous sound (HOLD) or to enable the the underlying INPUT plug (GATE). The INPUT plug accepts signals coming from LOW FREQUENCY oscillator or signals from any other OUTPUT plug, on which it acts adding timbral contents typical of the NOISE GENERATOR circuit.

ILL-LOGIC has four square wave oscillators. Oscillators pitch can be adjusted using the FREQUENCY knob. The first oscillator ranges from low frequencies to audio rate and is always active. The A-B-C oscillators have audio frequency range. When the switch is in A-B-C HOLD position the oscillators deliver a continued sound. If the switch is in A-B-C GATED position, a signal must be provided on the INPUT plug to obtain the oscillator sound. Any OUTPUT plug can provide this gate signal. Using the low frequency oscillator output to gate the oscillator will provide a pulsing sound. Connecting the NOISE GENERATOR output to the oscillator input allow a slight noise coloring. Using the OUTPUT of an oscillator connected to the INPUT of another allows oscillator synchronization.

[The Ring Modular] section features three ring modulator stages, each with two inputs and one output. It can process signals from the oscillators and from the noise generator. The OUTPUT plug can be used to provide the gate signal for the oscillator INPUT plug when the oscillator is in gated mode.

A four channel mixer allows volume settings of the signals connected to the INPUT plugs."

The Kabbalistic Synth based on Earth's Magnetic Field, Magnetic Storms of Jupiter & Cosmic Rays

Kabbalistic Synth from sam conran on Vimeo.

via Creative Applications Network where you'll find the full post.

"Created by Sam Conran at the RCA/Design Interactions, the Kabbalistic Synthesizer is a is a musical synthesizer that uses the combination of electric signals to build and create sound bottom up using its raw basic elements. It replaces all usual functions of a regular synthesizer, signal, noise, ADSR, gate and keyboard with alternatives that are generated by live macrocosmic phenomena. The result is a synth that operates itself with waveforms generated by the Earths magnetic field, noise via magnetic storms of Jupiter and keyboard via cosmic rays."

New Folktek Conduit on Indiegogo

Published on Jun 20, 2015 Sir Folktek

Folktek has a new campaign on Indiegogo. Click through for the full details, some captured further below for the archives.

via Indiegogo

"The Conduit:
A symbiotic touch-based drone synthesizer based on a delay which then travels to a filter. Creating swells of oscillation that can delve into eternal noisy feedback territory as one desires. Connect to a sequencer to control the time/pitch and pull forth some powerful synthesis.

Additionally the touch board is a control voltage generator/keyboard sending 0-5v in .5v increments.

Note that the final will be slightly different than what's shown. The circuit's been redesigned to have the two outer knobs taken up on the panel to provide more space for the jacks with less interference.

Features:
touch pads; 8 polyphonic notes + noise + pitch: all sensitive to touch. These are synchronous with the delay clock, meaning delay time = oscillator pitch. All notes are tuned with one another so the pitch is a master control.
Oscillation and/or incoming audio sent through on-board filter: for further manipulation.
CV controllable: over delay time/master pitch (+0-5v).
Touch panels generate CV: signals from +0-5v in .5v increments to control your modular gear (it's a cv keyboard).
Audio input: to get your sound into some delay and filter goodness. Expect the delay to be a noisy little bastard (this is a drone synthesizer). For a clean delay and filter signal, however, one can disconnect the touch plates and use it strictly as an effects unit for synthesizers, guitar, etc. Cv controls delay time.
Delay: True vintage analog sound delay. The delay goes from extremely tight to some unspecified, very long, very noisy time. The range of the time knob has been allowed to extend to incredibly long times by allowing the degradation of quality beyond a second or so, allowing the sound to get into very lo-fi and grimy territory.
Filter: Single knob style filter with fixed resonance allows for a nice, rich sweep.
Adaptable with other Folktek works: Without sending the audio output anywhere, the oscillators will travel through the players' body and into Materia, Mentalis and/or Aether to be further manipulated (examples in videos).
All 3.5mm jacks
High quality parts, solid construction.
Bamboo box with dark splines.
12v operation with included power supply"

The Goblin Box from Riced Out Industries on Kickstarter

The Goblin Box from Riced Out Industries on Vimeo.

Currently on Kickstarter

"The Goblin Box is a unique electronic instrument controlled by light, in the style of a theremin. As with a traditional theremin, basic use is immediate and straightforward (just wave your hand around in the air!), but practice will reward advanced users with significant precision and control... and for the terminally impatient, a CV input allows access to the conveniences of sequencing...

FEATURES

Pitch Control -- Root note. One knob, one sensor.
Chaos Control -- Ranges from just the root note, to a modulatory mess, to formants, to blasts of high-frequency static. One knob, one sensor.
Audio Out -- Line-level, quarter-inch jack.
Control Voltage (CV) In -- Control the pitch with an external sequencer. Quarter-inch jack.
Precision Sensing -- The (analog, non-quantized) sensors can be individually manipulated from up to a few inches away and have the level of granularity required for deliberate, repeatable performances.
Pilot Light -- Allows full operation even in complete darkness. Especially in complete darkness.
Portability -- Comfortable as either a tabletop studio unit or handheld live unit. Ergonomics suitable for one-handed play or two. Controls to compensate for differing levels of ambient light. Runs off a nine-volt."

Bleep Labs Introduces The Delaydelus Sampler and Delay Instrument

Uploaded on May 31, 2015 Bleep Labs

Limited edition available now for pre-order.
Orders will close July 2nd.

via Bleep Labs

"The Delaydelus is a sampler with a built in delay.

Each pin is a sample. The buttons are used to trigger whatever pin is connected to that buttons pin.
For example if the first pin, P1, is connected with the alligator clip wire to pin “A”, the A button on the left will play that sample.
If P1 is connected to P2 and A1 then the A button will play both samples at the same time.

Up to four samples can be triggered at once.

Pitch is adjusted with the knob on the left. When it’s at 12 o’clock the sample pays back at normal speed. As you go counter-clockwise from there the playback will go slower until it starts going in reverse.
Turning the knob clockwise from the center will increase the playback rate.

It’s powered by a 9v battery that’s inserted from the side.
The audio input and output are 1/8″ mono.
– Eight samples designed by Daedelus
– Over a minute of total sample memory
– Beautifully crunchy 12bit, 30kHz audio
– One second delay
– Combine four samples at a time with the unique patch bay
– Through mode to use the delay with an external source
– Sample audio or use it to trigger or modulate
– Optional USB adapter allows you you control the device with MIDI as well as reprogram it
– More info and videos in the user guide

Delay
The internal delay is controlled with two knobs.
The middle knob controls how long the delay is, from just a few microseconds at full clockwise to about a second at full counter-clockwise.
The feedback amount is controlled by the right knob. When the knob is all the way counter-clockwise the delay is off. As you turn clockwise the feedback increases. At 3 o’clock the feedback is infinite. Past that it’s amplified and starts to go crazy.
