Baba O’Riley (Modular Synth Who cover)

video upload by Planter Music

"Maybe I’ll go back and figure out what the second synth is doing but what a classic. I used the ALM ASQ-1 for the main synth arpeggio and then the bass notes. The metropolix is doing the secondary synth part and then the squid Salmple for the drums."

The Octave CAT synthesizer: a detailed demo and tutorial

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We present a detailed look at the infamous Octave CAT synthesizer. Released in the mid-1970s, it was similar in many ways to the Arp Odyssey and Minimoog, but had several unique features such as blending waveforms, sub octaves, and cross modulation. These give it a unique sound that ranges from powerful analog synth bass to wild combinations of frequency modulation. And of course, it is called "CAT" so we have to review it. This is the way.

00:14 History of the Octave CAT and Octave Electronics
01:17 Presenting the Octave CAT MK 1
02:13 Oscillator demos
05:50 VCF demos (including modulation)
10:17 Oscillator hard sync
12:43 Frequency Modulation

Shoutout to SyntheticDreamscapes.com for overhauling our CAT Mk1 to get it ready for this demo and use in upcoming music projects.

Sequential Circuits Multi-Trak

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Excellent condition and freshly serviced by Sequential Circuits tech wizard Greg Montalbano. Also comes with original box and cassette with factory patches. This synth has been future-proofed so it’s like buying one brand new in 1985. All the common issues with the synth have been addressed and fixed.

Local pick up in the greater Bay Area region strongly preferred but I’m willing to ship if you cover shipping costs.

This thing is a beast! 6-voice analog multi-timbral polyphonic synthesizer from 1985. Same synth manufacturer of the legendary Prophet-5. Really awesome analog synth with a killer 80's sound but still super versatile! Excels at pads, leads and "weird" sounds but you can also get fat bass patches (especially in Unison mode). The 6 track sequencer is a lot of fun too. You can essentially turn this 6-voice polysynth into 6 individual monosynths playing simultaneously. Each of the 6 voices has its own independent output too!

Built in chorus effect sounds super lush as well. It can save up to 99 patches. Has a built-in arpeggiator. You'd be hard pressed to find another recently serviced vintage analog polysynth in this condition at this price. Don't miss out on this deal!

One minor cosmetic issue--the power cord has been taped up a bit to prevent fraying. It works perfectly and doesn’t impede function in any way but just want to make sure I’m not leaving anything out in my description."

Ongaku Demo and Tutorial

video upload by Giorgio Sancristoforo

"Ongaku is the sister panel of the infamous Bento japanoise box.
This panel has different features including LPGs, delays and reverb. With Ongaku you will create new sonic worlds from cavernous soundscapes to vibrant generative pads in the style of Eno’s, to unpredictable noises or super bongo action west coast style… It is so organic that it feels alive. See for yourself how the probabilistic clock can create amazing strange rhythms."

Sequential Synth Tips With Sheenah Ko: Prophet-6 Sequencer

video upload by Sequential

"Welcome back to “Sequential Synth Tips,” where some of our favorite artists share their tips, tricks, and techniques on Sequential synths. In this episode, Sheenah Ko demonstrates how to use the sequencer on the Prophet-6 keyboard.

Sheenah is a professional keyboardist and artist, writing vibey synth pop music under Sheenah Ko, and often seen on stages around the world with bands like psych rockers The Besnard Lakes, electronic dance group, Le Couleur, and so many more!

Sheenah is releasing her sophomore album, FUTURE IS NOW, on June 3rd, with 2 new singles available now, all craftfully made with Sequential gear!

The Cave Sessions (Jams with Sheenah)

video uploads by Sheenah Ko

Playlist at the time of this post:

1. Cave Sessions with Sheenah Ko (Improvised jam with Roland Juno 60, Prophet 6 and Toraiz SP16)

"Here's the 2nd video of my new series, the Cave Sessions, where I invite you deep into my woman cave to watch my solo jam sessions, featuring special guest, Ginger! Jamming and improvising is my way of discovering and learning more about my gear, my voice, and creating new ideas without any rules. I also compose a lot of my songs this way. This time I am improvising on the Roland Juno 60, Sequential Prophet-60 (Master) and Toraiz-SP16 (Slave)!

2. Cave Sessions with Sheenah Ko (welcome to my creative process)

"Welcome to my cave....where laundry and synthesizers have their place. I invite you to watch my song-writing process. The way I write songs is through meditative and improvised jam sessions; I press record and let myself go, and because each instrument is being recorded separately, I can go back to my jam and sculpt/chip away and create a new song. MY GEAR: Sequential Prophet-6 (Master), Nord Stage 2, Sequential/Pioneer DJ Toraiz SP-16 (slave), Roland Juno-60"

About Sheenah Ko:
"I'm a professional keyboardist and solo artist based out of Montreal, Canada, and a Sequential Keyboards artist. I am often composing music under my name (Sheenah Ko) or touring the world rocking international stages with so many rad bands like The Besnard Lakes, Antoine Corriveau, Le Couleur... (the roster is looooong). I love geeking out on synthesizers, writing trippy music, travelling, spending as much time as possible in nature, hanging with Ginger cat and spreading good vibes. I have a brand new album coming out on June 3, 2022 called FUTURE IS NOW, stay tuned!!!

Loki on a Polymoog

via CatSynth:

"Loki sits comfortably atop a vintage Polymoog synthesizer. From aagtive on Instagram, who provides the following commentary:
'Been using the Polymoog keyboard more lately. I’m finding on its’ own it’s rather limited. But the rock organ bass with the filter on can be be quite strong and effective. Also, by building an audio effect rack even the piano preset can become something quite interesting like you heard on my previous post. Each note has its own circuit board apparently. Perhaps that’s part of the charm. I also enjoy the wobbly sounds I get when it’s first powered on and hasn’t had time to warm up yet.'
https://www.instagram.com/p/CccE1ymOYHN/ I did have the opportunity to see those boards on the inside of a Polymoog recently."

Moog MiniMoog Model D Reissue Analog Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Only cosmetic issue is a small pin hole (pictured) on the upper right side of the control panel from an old Devo pin.

Included is an excellent gator hardcase made for a mixer but it fits the Minimoog really well with room for a power supply and expression pedal. And it’s got wheels!

Cat not included."
