Tangerine Dreams 🍊 | This Tangerine Tree Will Calm Your Nervous System

video upload by Bio Music Vibrations

"Tangerine Dreams 🍊 is a deep sensory meditation created from the bioelectric signals of a living tangerine tree.

Using bioelectric sensors and a modular synthesizer, I translated the tree’s natural electrical activity into music — gentle bell-like tones, warm drones, and slow organic pulses shaped by winter, light, and touch.

This sound is not composed.
It is listened to.

The result is a calm, immersive soundscape that feels warm, fresh, and quietly alive — like sunlight stored inside fruit and slowly released into cold winter air.

Perfect for:
• meditation
• sleep and deep rest
• nervous system regulation
• emotional grounding
• mindfulness and presence

Use headphones for the full experience.
Listen slowly.

Sweetness unfolds in time.

🌿 This is part of the Bio Music Vibrations project — where plants, nature, and technology meet to create living soundscapes for healing and inner peace."

This Pine Tree Doesn’t Follow Time — It Shapes It (Deep Meditation Experiment)

video upload by Bio Music Vibrations

"The signals of a plant are difficult to interpret — especially when their sound is not naturally tuned to the human ear.

What you hear at first may feel raw, almost chaotic.
Not music as we usually understand it, but movement… pulses… living electricity searching for a voice.

In this experiment, I connected a pine tree to a modular synthesizer and did something unusual: instead of forcing harmony, I limited the system to just a few notes and allowed the tree to influence the tempo itself.

The result was surprising.
The BPM was not fixed.
It expanded and contracted organically — breathing rather than following a grid.
This reflects a simple but profound idea once described by Einstein:
time is not absolute.

Here, time is not dictated by a machine, but shaped by a living organism responding to the present moment.

The graph linked below shows the smoothed bioelectrical readings of the pine tree over time, revealing natural fluctuations and distinct states.
Because life is never perfectly stable.
It flows.

With the addition of subtle textures and gentle binaural beats, the sound opens a space for deep meditation, where the mind slows down enough to listen — not with the ears, but with attention.
This feels especially meaningful during the Christmas season.

Pine trees have long symbolized continuity, resilience, and life through darkness.
And yet, millions are cut down each year — used briefly, then forgotten.
This music is not a loud protest.

It is a quiet reminder.
A reminder that forests are not resources —
they are relationships.

Living systems that regulate climate, hold memory, and support all life, including ours.
As the sound unfolds, thoughts soften.
There is no past to revisit.
No future to fix.
Only this vibration.
This breath of time shaped by a tree.
Peace is not something we create.
It is something we remember.

The Soothing Ambience Of The French Riviera (in a Box)

video upload by HAINBACH

"French artist Gilou loaned me his Boxed Sandpit to play with. It is lovingly crafted hybrid of electro-acoustic sound and digital control. Using beach sand, a rake, a shovel and smooth stones as MIDI controllers, it is possible to create some very chill sounds. Check out his work: https://instagram.com/gilou._"

Lite2Sound QB Stereo - raindrops are oscillating

video upload by EA78751

"We have made a field recording of a common but rarely heard side of nature - the oscillations of falling rain drops. Shine a flashlight up into the rain and its light bounces back off the surface of the falling drops, to be received by our stereo photodiode amplifier. We are using the Lite2Sound QB Stereo from Rare Waves LLC (rarewaves.net, lite2sound.com)"

SOMEWHERE In Northern California, Chapter 1. Live composition and remote performance.

video upload by nbor

"In an experiment in remote performance, production, and presentation, I gathered some sounds from the internet, the studio, and the environment and put together this short film that documents the location, the mood, the instruments, and the process of creating a piece of electronic music "off-grid" in a remote location. Rather than simply film myself composing for literal live performance, I surround the piece with context and indulged in fascinations. An abstract narrative emerged as I pieced things together..

Thanks to Ali and Aperna for the wonderful place to stay and studio to prep in, Thanks to @1010music for making such a cool device! Thanks to @Mevo Camera from Logitech for the WiFi cameras that made multi camera shooting possible."

Audio of Juno’s Ganymede Flyby

video upload by JPLraw

"The audio track is made by shifting the frequency of those emissions — which range from 10 to 50 kHz — into the lower audio range"

Sounds like a dual filter with resonance, one slowly sweeping and the other modulated by sample & hold. See the nature label at the bottom of this post for more.

"This 50-second animation provides an auditory as well as visual glimpse at data collected by Juno’s Waves instrument as the spacecraft flew past the Jovian moon Ganymede on June 7, 2021. The abrupt change to higher frequencies around the midpoint of the recording represents the spacecraft's move from one region of Ganymede's magnetosphere to another.

The audio track is made by shifting the frequency of those emissions — which range from 10 to 50 kHz — into the lower audio range

The animation is shorter than the duration of Juno's flyby because the Waves data is edited onboard to reduce telemetry requirements.

More information about Juno is at https://www.nasa.gov/juno and https://missionjuno.swri.edu."

Grasshopper as an instrument - Play that cricket!

video upload by Espen Kraft

"Can you teach a grasshopper to play in perfect rhythm with your synthesizers and sounds? Can you train a grasshopper to be the next Zimmer, Williams or Junkie XL? Of course not, but you can sample it and use that to great effect, in a soundtrack. Sci-fi soundtrack tutorial recommended.

I'm using a Zoom H1 to record sounds in the field.
The sampler I use is the Yamaha TX16W from 1987. It is a 12 bit stereo sampler, at 33Khz.
I use the TAL sampler to process the sampled sound, and to loop it etc.
The song is called 'The Spacehopper Theme' and was made for this video. I use various synths in this and the song is mixed and mastered."

Five Minutes of Pink Oyster Mushroom Playing Modular Synthesizer

MycoLyco

"Through the magic or rather science of bio data sonification, this flush of oyster mushrooms get a shot at playing a eurorack modular synthesizer before they become my dinner. Electrical resistance is measure by passing a small current through the mushrooms similar to a lie detector test. The changes in resistance are then converted into control signals which determine the rhythm, pitch, timbre and effects parameters of the modular synthesizer.

Longer pink oyster mushroom videos coming later this week, and the audio will be in stereo! Make sure to like, subscribe and hit that notification bell. Especially if you read this far!! Thanks for all the support you all rock."

Agitations: Post-Electronic Sounds

Oscillatorial Binnage - Woktones (from 'Agitations: Post-Electronic Sounds') ashford daisyak

Back in 2016, Daniel Wilson brought us Radionics Radio - An Album of Musical Radionic Thought Frequencies - Delawarr Multi-Oscillator (c.1962)

He now brings us Agitations: Post-Electronic Sounds. For this release, he is part of a quartet exploring "acoustic analogies for classical electronic soundmaking techniques." It was recorded entirely acoustically. The "CD edition contains the small booklet - 'A Primer on Post-Electronic Technique'. It's just received a large feature in Electronic Sound magazine and a glowing review in The Wire, linking the post-apocalyptic technology we use with the limitations forced upon us by the pandemic."

Above is a teaser video with the following description followed by a BandCamp embed:

"From Oscillatorial Binnage's 'Agitations: Post-Electronic Sounds' released February 2020 on the Sub Rosa label. An album of recordings made using electromagnetic force fields acting upon found/recycled objects in increasingly complex mechanical systems of cranks, pulleys, levers, tilts, jacks and gears.

Oscillatorial Binnage is a London-based electroacoustic improv quartet comprised of Fari Bradley, Toby Clarkson, Christopher J Weaver, and Daniel Wilson. Self-built instruments feature extensively, along with recycled objects, inharmonic and arbitrary microtonal tunings, and solar power.

Filmed here by Toby Clarkson using multiple cameras."

What about the MicroGranny (MG2)?

The Daydream Sound

"Do I use the micoGranny Granular Sampler in my Music? I do but very rarely on it’s own. Here’s the secret to how I use the MG2 in my studio. I hook it up to an FX unit (the Ensoniq ASRX) I chain it up to an analog filter (the Q150 Synthesizers.com Transistor Ladder Filter) and I keep it moving!

Elektron Digitakt - Ambient "Mecanic Birds" - Live @home

Published on May 28, 2020 Luc Debeck

"This is an ambient track I made , only with the Digitakt. No external effects are used, straight from the box. I made my own samples, no existing presets"

It appears we had a mini nature roll. It's interesting how this sometimes happens.

Synth Sounds of the Narwhal

Some LFO action there.

"With the help of Inuit hunters, geophysicists recently recorded the various calls, buzzes, clicks and whistles of narwhals as they summered in a Greenland fjord. The recordings help scientists better understand the soundscape of Arctic glacial fjords and provide valuable insight into the behavior of these shy and mysterious creatures, according to the researchers.

This animation illustrates how narwhal vocalizations match their behavior. The researchers captured several types of sounds made by narwhals, including social calls, or whistles, and clicks used for echolocation, the biological sonar used by dolphins, bats, some whales and other animals to navigate and find food.

The closer narwhals get to their food, the faster they click, until the noise becomes a buzz not unlike that of a chainsaw. This terminal buzz helps the narwhals pinpoint the location of their prey.

The recordings help the researchers provide a baseline of the kinds of sounds that permeate the narwhals’ pristine habitat. In combination with sightings, they also show narwhals get closer to glacier ice than previously thought for this area and the animals do forage for food in summer, contrary to some previous findings."

I always thought they could speak (magic unicorn of the sea and all) :
