Cat Full of Ghosts Hell Synth: DIY Digital Noise Terror on Kickstarter

On Kickstarter here. Follow-up to this post.

"The 'Hell Synth' is a palm sized experimental synth you can buy prebuilt or as a kit. Little noise synths are often limited in the scope of their sound, either they grind aggressively like dive-bombing aeroplanes, or drone in massive arrays of humming square-waves.

THIS HELL SYNTH IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT! The range of sounds that come out of this little box will keep you twiddling for hours. There are oceans of glass, lightening fast arpeggios, swarming notes that dance in and out of phase.

This is the fifth version of this synth design and the tenth version of the software. Ive been working to make sure it is fun to use while being full of awesome sounds.

So far there are two programs I have written for it including:

FROM HELL!!! :
This is a hard-core noise synth with six digital wavetable oscillators, tons of glitch, modulation and waveforms. It also has midi out.

ARP BOX1:
A cute little arpeggiator with both audio and MIDI out, capable of everything from Casio-style acid crazy to bleepy-bloops."

Hyve Touch Synthesizer Workshop with Skot Wiedmann

"April 4, 2015 - Urbana, IL

Build your own polyphonic analog synthesizer with a multi touch interface. No experience necessary, open to everyone. At 2pm makers, musicians, artists, and students will be guided through an introduction into circuitry and will be making music on their very own touch synthesizer a couple hours later. The instrument is a 60 note polyphonic analog synthesizer. The multi touch interface senses your fingers position on each key and how hard you are pressing for fun finger wiggling playing. Cost: $40. Sign up at tiny.cc/HYVE"

The Hyve is Scot Wiedmann's latest creation. He was the man behind the amazing star shaped modular featured at the 2009 NAMM show and Motus Mavis.

Live homestudio improvisation Ableton Push, iPad, illuminated orbs, Rocket, Korg Volcas, Microbrute

Published on Mar 14, 2015 Perplex On

"This is a live and uncut homestudio improvisation / test-drive starring: toy robot, kalimba, illuminated orbs, Ableton Push, iPad loaded with Soundscaper and Dedalus, Waldorf Rocket, Korg Volca Keys, Volca Bass, Arturia Microbrute.

Tech facts:

- illuminated orbs with enclosed wiimotes, which are sending varius motion data (acceleration, pitch, roll etc.)

- this data is converted to midi data which is controlling the various analog synths (e.g. acceleration is triggering notes and pitch is controlling the filter cutoff)

- iPad loaded with the apps Soundscaper an Dedalus

- Ableton Push for piano

Timeline:

00:00 - 00:40: Live sampling of a toy robot and a kalimba
00:40 - 02:00: mangling with Soundscaper for creating a drone
02:05 - 03:25: illuminated orbs triggering and controlling the analog synths
03:25: some piano with Push
04:45 - 05:55 orb triggering some glitchy drums which are live processed with the iPad app Dedalus
06:07 - end: some little mallets triggered by the orb"

Roland Aira MX-1 / Acid Infusion

"This is my first workout with the brand new Roland Aira MX-1. In case you already own an Aira box, this thing really is a nobrainer, as it takes the whole Aira setup to the next level. Seriously its that much fun. Also there are no external effects or mastering, this is pure Aira Sound.

Liste to it loud !"

RARE Soviet Analog Voice Synth Arton-VS-34

"Hi. You are bidding on a very very rare soviet analog synth ARTON VS-34. There were just around 100 of them ever made

Ruskeys.net/base/arton34.php

It is called 'the voice synthesizer' and looks exactly like very popular Maestro synth but it sounds completely different.

It produces sounds that imitate male and female voices, pronouncing "ah" "ou" "oh" and "ee" sounds.

It has an arpegiator, filters and modulation controller as seen on maestro synthesizer.

This synth was made by the same team of designers and engineers who developed legendary Polivoks and maestro. It was made at Vector factory.

Since this synth is very rare I make a "best offer" listing -- there is no "market price" for this thing."

"Thomas 2001 Electric Organ
Original Survivor From 1976

Features:
Piano, Organ & Drum Beat Synthesizer to name a few Features
Millions of Musical Combinations
Expansion Boards
Lots of Light Up Buttons for the Tech Lovers
Mid-Century Design
Has Original Bench for Music Notebooks
For sale is this vintage 1976 Thomas 2001 organ. With it's incredibly iconic space age design, a model name with an unmistakable reference to Kubrick's Space Odyssey, and enough backlit gadgetry to be confused for a Soviet-era space capsule, it's quite clear why the famous The Standard hotel in Downtown Los Angeles has their entire entrance dedicated to their very own Thomas 2001 organ. With an obvious Panton-era physical presence and Saarinen style curves, this is the perfect instrument for a retro-inspired decor or interior. Incredibly attractive and almost subtle, this organ will undoubtedly be the conversation piece in any environment.

I had an organ repair person take a look at it and they said that some of the wires need to be throughly cleaned of dust using compressed air. There are some keys that seem to be getting feedback when specific options are engaged. All lights work."
