Especially demoing the possibilities of polyphony (which i am interested in play more with) Here is a quick diddle recorded with my cellphone. Audio was recorded into Logic and added some delay and reverb. Video might be a little out of sync from the video. Yes the OSCs were a little out of tune. Shortly after the video I tuned them up. Once tuned, they do stay pretty well."

"Another polyphony style demo of the Vermona PERfourMER MKII. Recored raw into Apple Logic. No processing. Tried to sync video to recording as best as i could. Not so interesting melody but some tweaks that can be done in poly mode. I didn't get to crazy but explored some possibilities. Only scratched the surface though..."

VERMONA PERFOURMER Mark 2 // STERO MONSTER // the WELL PANNED SYNTH // 1/3

Published on Jan 23, 2017 LESINDES

"Using th internal arpeggiator of PERFOURMER.
Interesting voicings in the stereo pan. The VERMONA PERFOURMER is the only modern analog synth that makes it possible.to play the game of alternating/rotating sounds in the same musical line. Each voice has it own sound (eg waveform, ADSR, LFO, filter and PAN)."

Brothers 👨‍👦‍👦 (Vermona DRM1 MKIV 8-voice analog drum synth // Perfourmer MKII + H9 + Bigsky + Pill)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"First video featuring the Vermona DRM-1 8-voice analog drum synth 😊 For a long time I've been stopping myself from getting one as I already have the MAM ADX-1 which is a bit an ancestor of this DRM-1! But the Vermona Perfourmer was feeling a bit lonely 😅

In this video, I decided to use my DAW to sequence both instruments as I wanted to be able to "play" the knobs on the instruments 😉

The track starts with the BASS (Voice 1 of the Perfourmer) and PLUCK (Voice 3 panned left & voice 4 panned right, of the Perfourmer through the H9 reverb). Then comes the KICK (Voice 1 of the DRM1) which is going into the Pill ducking pedal to trigger it.
Afterwards arrives the LEAD (Voice 3 of the Perfourmer through the Bigsky reverb + Pill ducking pedal) and the 7 other voices of the DRM1 (wanted initially to use them through the Particle granular delay, but didn't have enough time to blend it in! 😅).

* Hardware used *

// BASS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 1

// LEAD:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 2 + Strymon Bigsky (reverb) + Pill (ducking pedal)

// PLUCK:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voices 3&4 + Eventide H9 Max (reverb)

// DRUMS:
- Vermona DRM1 (8-voice analog drum synth)

Vermona Perfourmer MK2 with (iOS) Fugue Machine and Other Desert Cities

video upload by Thoow

"This is one patch I wanted to setup months before I finally got hold of a Vermona Perfourmer: I use the beautiful Fugue Machine to play a very easy sequence. Each playhead feeds one of the four Midi channels of the perfourmer. The audio is recorded into Ableton, where I add the Other Desert Cities plugin by Audiodamage with the Sky Valley Granular Delay algorithms for some additional granular pitch-shifting chaos."

Vermona Perfourmer MK2, Dr. Chaos and lots of reverb & delay

"My first contribution to this years Jamuary challenge. Todays topic is 'A jam that transports you to another world'. The only instrument used is the Vermona Perfourmer MK2. Sequenced from Ableton Live, using the Dr. Chaos module from the probabilty pack.

Lots of reverb delay and all the other good stuff added for further pleasure. Enjoy."

Vermona Perfourmer MK2 with Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water

"First performance with my new Vermona Perfourmer. This is the first device, that I immediately felt very comfortable with. Such a joy to play and wiggle all the knobs. For this take I send one of the VCOs directly through the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water pedal to add some additional warmth and motion. The piece is sequenced from Ableton live and multi track recorded. I added some additional effects via VSTs."

Vermona Perfourmer

images via this auction.

Note the colored knobs.

"Vermona Perfourmer with CV gate inputs / Midi in and out and the optional wood sides. Also included is a good stack of "preset" overlay sheets so you can mark your settings, copy of the User Manual, product flyer and the power cable.

This is literally 4 seperate monosynths that can either be tied together in Unison for a HUGE monosynth sound, a 2x2 duo polophony mode and also a 1 x 4 polophony mode. I used it in 1 x 4 mode, hooked up to a sequencer with each synth on a seperate Midi channel for 4 seperate music tracks. Super easy to use (NO MENUS TO FLIP THROUGH)

The PERFOURMER is a true analog synthesizer, providing a nearly unlimited diversity of basses, leads, pads and effect sounds through its incredibly flexible sound generation circuitry and its easy user interface.
In addition, the PERFOURMER can be used as a complex filterbank with its 6 filter inputs!
Even though the PERFOURMER is not a modular system, you can configure its structure as a semi-modular. The basic concept is reminiscent of classic synthesizers like the Oberheim 4-Voice or the Korg MONO/POLY.
The PERFOURMER consists of four voices. Each of them is a completely separate synthesizer which can be played and tweaked individually . You can link the synthesizer channels in any combination with each other and play them in three modes.

Synthesizer Channels
The PERFOURMER's four synthesizer channels are identical and have the following structure:
- One VCO with six waveforms, which are divided into two different octaves and a noise generator which produces white noise. The pitch can be adjusted smoothly in a range of +/- 13 halftones.
- A 4-pole lowpass filter with resonance and variable keytrack.
- A fast ADSR envelope that can modulate the VCA and VCF.
- An LFO with four waveforms which modulates the VCO frequency and the CUTOFF frequency, as well as the VCA.
- One VCA that can be modulated by the ADSR envelope, a fixed GATE envelope or the LFO.
FM
The synthesizer channels 1 to 3 can function as modulator for their neighbouring synthesizer channel. For example, synthesizer 1 can modulate the VCO frequency and the CUTOFF frequency of synthesizer 2. Or synthesizer 2 can modulate synthesizer 3, etc.
The modulation intensity can be adjusted separately for VCO and VCF.
MODES
All four synthesizer channels can be linked in arbitrary fashion and can be used in one of the following three modes:
- UNISON: All combined channels work as one monophonic synthesizer.
- DUOPHONIC: This mode separates the PERFOURMER into a two-voice synthesizer. Synthesizer 1 and 2 are voice no. one and synthesizer 3 and 4 work as voice no. two.
- POLYPHONIC: All combined channels work as a polyphonic synth.

Depending on the selected mode and in which way the synthesizer channels are combined, the PERFOURMER can be used as a fat monophonic synthesizer with 4 oscillators, 4 filters, 4 VCAs, etc., but also as a two, three, or four voice polyphonic synthesizer.
All synthesizer channels, that aren't combined with any other, work as simple monophonic synthesizers.

PERFOURMER as a filterbank
The PERFOURMER has six filter inputs.
There is one filter input per channel. The input signal will be added to the oscillator's signal of the respective channel.
On the rear panel of the PERFOURMER are two more inputs that are routed in parallel to all four synthesizer channels and which can be used alternatively to the oscillators' signal.
The CUTOFF frequencies of the single synthesizer channels can be controlled by MIDI.

Connecting Features
As well as the filter inputs, there are individual outputs per channel that can also be used as a channel insert. It's easy to connect the PERFOURMER to other equipment! It's also possible to tap the unprocessed VCO signal from each synth channel.
You can increase the sonic possibilities of the PERFOURMER by "internal patching" between the channels. For example, you can create a synthesizer that consists of two PERFOURMER channels with two envelope generators and LFOs. It's also possible to double the slope of the filters by connecting two of them in a row.
The PERFOURMER can be controlled by MIDI, and optionally can be equipped with four CV/GATE inputs (1V/octave)."

The PERfourMER Jam - All sounds from Vermoan PERfourMER MKII

05:05 Sampling the drums

"I was working on a new track using only the Vermona PERfourMER MKII as a sound source. This is all sounds including drums. I used my Akai MPC Live to sample the drums and record the bass and synth tracks. I just started using an AKAI LPK25 Wireless MIDI keyboard and the sense of freedom from wires overwhelmed me with joy. It was so much fun and it was Jamuary after all so I recorded this on the morning of New Years Day.
The Vermona PERfourMER MKII is a four voice analog synth with Mono, Poly and Duo mods. It has varies wave shapes including noise so I could use it to generate drums. The main melody uses the PERfourMER in Poly mod (you can hear it on its own after the jam) and the live lead is using it in duo mode, so two oscillators per note."

Synth Jams by Jay Hosking

Published on Jul 26, 2019 Jay Hosking

Spotted the first video in the playlist above on discchord.com. The Playlist contains 21 videos. You can use the player controls to skip around. Descriptions for each are below. All videos feature various gear so you should be able to get an idea of some of the capabilities of each featured. You can check out Jay Hosking's music at https://jayhosking.bandcamp.com/.

Note, more will likely get added over time. The following playlist is as of this post:

1. Jam w/ Vermona PERfourMER MkII, Elektron Analog Rytm MkII, OTO Bam, Styrmon Big Sky, Fugue Machine
A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by some pretty tough news that has me sentimental.

I loved the Elektron Analog Four MkII so much that I picked up the Analog Rytm MkII. My feelings on the Rytm are mixed. On the one hand, it's missing that spontaneity and spark of units like the Arturia DrumBrute Impact and Teenage Engineering OP-Z, with no readymade performance effects, roller bar, or global randomization, and a slower workflow. On the other hand, I really like its analogue sound engines, any unused tracks can be converted into impressive analogue mono synths, it does beautiful things to samples, and like all Elektron boxes it integrates the effects into the sequencer really nicely.

As for the Vermona PERfourMER MkII, I'd been pining over it for ages, and it was fun to finally tinker with it. The Perfourmer definitely excels in the mid- and high- range, and I love how the independent voices making really interesting voices for chords.

Vermona PERfourMER MkII + OTO Bam — Three synths (left chord note, right chord note, melody)
Vermona PERfourMER MkII + Strymon Big Sky — Bass chord note synth
Elektron Analog Rytm MkII — Drums, samples, sample melody, punchy bass
Fugue Machine (iOS) — Sequencing
IK Multimedia iRig Pro Duo — MIDI out from iOS

Written and performed within a 24-hour period, and uploaded as is, with only a little sidechain compression on the Perfourmer (to emphasize the sound that the Rytm was already making), and compression/limiting on the master.

"The 5th chapter of my Strymon Volante with mostly synth series and the second featuring the wonderful Vermona PERfourMER mkii.

The PERfourMER is a four part/oscillators analog synth that is flexible and creative and I have deep love for it. I have had several ideas for patches but to be honest between the PERfourMER and the Volante it is easy to get lost in creativity and I could have easily kept on for days. Maybe ill have a PERfourMER part 3 at some point.

I have used a number of sequencers and MIDI devices on these patches. I again used the Arturia Microfreak for MIDI on a couple of them.
I also used the internal sequencer of the PERfourMER. I always thought of them as Vermona standards that need to be reinterpreted in different ways.
I also used the six4pix noodlebox again for CV control and some glitchy MIDI on the Pebbles & Drones. My noodlebox is an early prototype and the MIDI implementation is not complete on it but that created some interesting semy randomness that was fun.
I also used another six4pix device, the Le Strum. A MIDI guitar style strummer, that helps me to overcome my deep desire to play an electric guitar. Would love to know what you think? I love playing it with the Vermona as the 4 voices act like 4 strings. In the opening patch, the Le Strum is competing with the PERfourMER sequence for the voices creating an interesting and less predictable effect.

I am also using a couple of cheap pedals. Including a £12 including delivery one from China that I am totally into as it is super sensitive and can turn its noise input into drones (Like in the Pebbles & Drones patch). Don't know much about it and maybe my one is faulty but I like it.

I would love to know what patches work for you? and if you have a Strymon Vermona and use it with synthesizers or other interesting gear would like to know how you are getting on with it

Audio and video recorded live into iPhone 11 using Zoom U-24 audio interface
Audio from strymon into Mackie 1202-VLZ3 mixer and then into into the U-24. any other pedals will be shown in the patch description.
No other processing except level normalisation
Video effects using iPhone.

Sisters 👩‍❤️‍👩 (Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 + H9 // DRM-1 Mk4 + Bigsky + Lethargy // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"As I've been posting a couple of Youtube Shorts lately, I made this "very long" video this time (the longest one on the channel, other than the "Going live at home video" https://youtu.be/qgIxJwxzqlA 😊).

For this one, I used 2 analog instruments (Perfourmer Mk2 and DRM-1 Mk4) sequenced by the Keystep Pro (KSP) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list....
I made heavy use of a lot of cool features of the KSP like: polymeter, randomness, step skip, looper, transposing within scale, scenes, individual drum mutes, quick toggle between 2 drum patterns (this one is a bit of a trick of mine) 🤩

So the track starts with the KSP's Track 4 sequencing voices 3 & 4 of the Perfourmer (going through the H9 using its tape delay effect, where you can clearly hear the nostalgic "wow & flutter").

I then unmute the KICK and SNARE (played by the DRM-1) abd BASS (played by the Perfourmer, but going out DRY by its seperate audio output).

The other tracks are then unmuted and I start to transpose live the played sequences (you know I love this feature, right?).

Further on I use the KSP's "Scene" feature to load different patterns for the "chorus" part.
You can hear me playing with some parameters of the DRM-1's CLAP sound, which is going through the Dreadbox Lethargy analog phaser (using the DRM-1's handy insert jack!).
I also trigger manually a couple of times the MULTI voice of the DRM-1 (which is going through the Bigsky reverb), for the build etc.

The track then heads to a more "experimental" outro part consisting of 5 step patterns (where I shifted the analog phaser from the CLAP insert jack to the HIHAT2 insert jack).

* Hardware used *

// BASS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Voice 1

// SYNTHS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Voice 2, Voices 3&4 + Eventide H9 Max (tape delay) + Pill (ducking pedal, triggered by the KICK from DRM-1)

// DRUMS:
- Vermona DRM-1 Mk4 (8-voice analog drum synth) with Strymon Bigsky reverb (on the MULTI's output) and Dreadbox Lethargy analog phaser (on the CLAP's output in insert mode, then HIHAT2)

// SEQUENCER:
- Arturia Keystep Pro"

🎸 In this instrumental series I'm playing some classics of Rock/Pop music history from the 60s and 70s, using my Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Synthesizer, Nord Drum 3P and KMI Softstep 2 together with Ableton Live.

All sounds are coming from the Nord Drum except the 2nd Loop, which is coming from the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2. For the melody I added a strong amount of Distortion (Soundtoys Devil Loc) and Reverb (Eventide Blackhole).

For mixing I just used some gentle EQ and Compression (mostly FabFilter) and also some Soundtoys effects."

Vermona Perfourmer MK II 2 & Döpfer improvisation

Vermona Perfourmer MK II 2 Döpfer Dark Energy Dark Time A-100 live improvisation pure analog sounds

YouTube Uploaded by Tiefengrund on Dec 18, 2011
Second video below.

"Another Improvisation with my analog synthesizers.
The recording and mixing is absolutly live, on one track .
At the beginning you hear the "Tick Tick" Rythm by the A-111-5 Modul triggert by the A-155 Trigger sequencer.
And the Perfourmer makes the "Thunder"-Sound.
(with much delay) andThe Waldorf Blofeld is only used as a masterkeyboard for the Perfourmer.

In the video you here only analog sounds in a singletrack-recording without overdubs.
The leading sequence makes the Doepfer Dark Time, triggering the A-100 envelope generator.
The audiosignal from the two A-110 Oszillators is filtered by the A-120 Moog Type Filter.
The deep bass is a sine wave from one of the two A-110, bypasses the Filter and goes direct in the VCA.

So that's the blurb. I have to say that I've found this synth a joy to use. Being Semi modular it has much of the flexibly of a modular setup and in sheer terms of experimentation you can make some unbelievable sounds. The thing however that stands out most to me is the quality of it's output, the bass and the lead sounds that this thing is capable of are really something and though perhaps nodding in the direction of a minimoog, it's clearly got it's own sound. If you're brave enough to stack up all 4 voices, the building will literally shake!! While it rips it up with the best of them, it's also capable of some more ambient sounds also particular note goes to the throbbing bass and the fantastic filters."

Emotional Waste - ambient electronica - Vermona Perfourmer, Moog Muse, Polybrute12, Summit & Piano

video upload by copenhagennoiselab

"I was connecting stuff in my temporary home office studio setup yesterday and had brought out my Vermona Perfourmer (mk1) from storage. So while setting it up I recorded a simple 4 bar thing as midi and let it drive the Perfourmer synthesizer. I had it running for a few hours while I was connecting midi and audio for the other synths I have in the home office and I never got bored of it. So today I decided to quickly add some piano and other synths to it to see if I could make it into something more... I dunno if the last part was succesful though, but at least I got it documented...

The main synth is the Vermona Perfourmer playing a chord structure thing. The second synth that appears is a lead from the Expressive E Osmose followed by a bass from the Novation Summit and another soft lead from the Moog Muse. Then a chord with some morphee filtering from the Arturia Polybrute 12 before the Piano comes in. (Just another piano improvisation more or less). At the end I start to mess up the Vermona thing and I also added a Drummer track in Apple Logic Pro."

On the rear panel of the PERFOURMER are two more inputs that are routed in parallel to all four synthesizer channels and which can be used alternatively to the oscillators' signal.
The CUTOFF frequencies of the single synthesizer channels can be controlled by MIDI.

It's also possible to double the slope of the filters by connecting two of them in a row."

"The Perfourmer is 4 synths in one case. You can set it up in many ways... Unison, Duo, Poly. In this video, I have Synth 2 being controlled by CV/Gate from my TB-303 (out of frame). Synth 3 & 4 are together being controlled via MIDI, on the same channel, by Ableton Live. Synth 1 is set to "LFO mode" where the LFO is modulating the VCA which is tuned to the root note of the main sequence of Synth 2. This is an excellent synth... I'm extremely impressed with it's sound.

The TB-303's actual audio is brought in later, through my mixer... I've added chorus & reverb, which you can see from the bars moving on the SDX rack.

Bass drum is from a TR-606 sample in Ableton

Cosmos 🌌 (Waldorf M + Rooms // Vermona Perfourmer + Timeline + LoFI Junky + H9 ; Erica Synths LXR02)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I used 3 instruments for this track (recorded in one shot): the WALDORF taking care of the pads, the VERMONA Perfourmer Mk2 of the bass, lead & plucks and finally the SONIC POTIONS x ERICA SYNTHS LXR-02 for the drums.

The 2 synths were sequenced by my DAW (as for the drum machine, I used it's quite powerful sequencer with the probability feature for a couple of notes).

The M (8-voice, hybrid digital/analog synth) is being used in multi-mode with 2 pad sounds (I introduced the 2nd sound in the middle of the jam), all through the DEATH BY AUDIO Rooms pedal reverb.

As for the Perfourmer (4-voice, full analog synth), the:
- 1st voice was used to play the bass.
- 2nd voice a LO-FI lead/bass sound thanks to the ZVEX Lo-Fi Junky and EVENTIDE H9 (CrushStation).
- 3rd voice was used to play a pluck sound. I plugged in the MOOG analog MF Delay in its insert jack, and everything was routed out to the STRYMON Timeline delay.
- 4th voice was also used to play a pluck sound, routed as with voice 3, to the STRYMON Timeline.

* Hardware used *
- PADS: Waldorf M + Death By Audio Rooms
- BASS, LEAD, PLUCK : Vermona Perfourmer Mkii + Zvex Instant Lo-Fi Junky + Eventide H9 + Moog MF Delay + Strymon Timeline
- DRUMS: Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02"
