Wine Country Sequential Is Winding Down
This the end of an era. Wine Country Sequential was formed by ex Sequential Circuits employees when the original Sequential Circuits went under. They specialized in servicing and providing parts for vintage Sequential Circuits synths. I actually own a Wine Country "Perfect Prophet-5" myself.
via Wine Country Sequential:
"The Long & Winding Road Ends..Soon
It's been 46 years since musicians experienced the polyphonic sounds of a Prophet-5, and 41 years since the Prophet 600 introduced MIDI to the world. Sequential Circuits Prophets have made significant contributions to music, film, & theatre for decades. Since 1987 keeping the Prophet sound alive has always been the goal of Wine Country Sequential, and it's been a long and interesting ride. The ride is now over, Wine Country Sequential repair services for Sequential Circuits Prophets ended in December 2023. However, Wine Country Sequential remains open for business as the liquidation of original Sequential Circuits parts & manuals in order to help vintage Prophets survive in the decades to come.
Liquidation of Sequential Circuits parts, manuals & archival documentation continues. Original Operation & Technical Manuals, Printed Circuit Boards, custom IC's, sound programs, Diagnostic ROMs and various other parts are available for most Sequential Circuits instruments. Wine Country Sequential will remain open for business in 2024 until the parts are gone.
Visit WineCountrySequential.com and SequentialCircuits.com for updates reflecting current availability of parts as the liquidation continues.
The Last Restored & Warranted Prophet 600 for sale by Wine Country with a 30 Day Parts & Labor Warranty is currently posted on SequentialCircuits.com at https://sequentialcircuits.com/prophet600forsale.html
Coming soon to SequentialCircuits.com is a Collector's Corner page offering original manuals, memorabilia, brochures, and even complete original engineering fabrication drawing packages for Sequential Circuits Prophets, drum machines, & other synths.
Thank you for your previous interest, and best of luck with your music.

Sequential Circuits Prophet VS Rack with extras

via this VEMIA auction
"If you want a VS Rack - and it's a fantastic synth, so you might well want one - you won't find a better example than this. Serial number 99, this one was restored by Wine Country in April 2002, and has been sparingly used since. It is in perfect working order, and has the latest operating system (1.2). It comes with the original manual in the classic Sequential folder; an unused RAM cartridge (originally an SCI RAM cartridge but adapted by Wine Country to RAM); a Wine Country Long Term Survival Kit (custom Voice Controller IC, front panel body & switch caps, front panel custom potentiometer, front panel knob*, data slider knob*, and footswitch jack); and a CEM3389 signal processor IC. Plus a certificate of restoration, with the embossed seal and Mr Sesnak's signature. (*Now no longer available at Wine Country!) This cost $2704 in 2002, which equates to about 1660GBP at the moment. Even if Wine Country haven't put their prices up in seven years (unlikely!), with shipping, insurance, and VAT / duty, it would be about 2150GBP."

Ripples - Wine Glasses, Morphagene, Mimeophon, VCV Rack, O Coast, Neutron, Una Corda
Published on Oct 27, 2019 Omri Cohen
"I had the idea to record myself playing on wine glasses into the Morphagene. I could find only 3 wine glasses but I enjoyed the result.
If you like what I do and want to support my work, consider joining my crew on Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/omricohen
Here it is on Spotify, iTunes, and more - https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/omr...
You can get the WAV file and individual stems on my Patreon page - https://www.patreon.com/posts/31030200
And also the VCV Rack patch file -
Here are some patch notes:
- I've tuned the Wine Glasses to 3 notes and recorded them into the Morphagene with the Zoom recorder.
- In VCV Rack, I have VCV Host loaded with Kontakt and Una Corda and I'm sending it first through Vult's Freak (hardware) for some extra warmth and then into the Make Noise Mimeophon which is acting as a looper.
- The Make Noise O Coast is receiving a sequence from the Keystep and goes into Chronoblob2 and Clouds inside VCV Rack.
- The oscillators of the Neutron are tuned to 2 different notes and I switch them with the Mix knob. It goes then to the Vult Steiner Parker filter (Hardware).
- In VCV Rack, I have Orca's Heart sequencing a few FM-OPs which are going through a reverb but also through a stereo filter and another Chronoblob2.
- With the Midilar controller, I bring some voices in and out, and I also control the FM amount and Feedback amount of the FM-OPs. I also have control over the delay time of both Chronoblobs and the freeze function."

Sequential Circuits Prophet T8

via this auction
"Certainly one of the Kings of analogue poly-synths, up there with Yamaha CS-80, Elka Synthex, etc.
Final 3.8 Main ROM Firmware & MIDI Rev. Serial Number 5** (for the buyer only), so one of the last produced.
It is estimated there were only around 600 of these T-8’s made in total so certainly a very rare synth.
This T-8 is Ex Sequential Circuits European factory @ Mijdrecht in Holland initially, on release around 1984/5...
It has worked fine for me in that time but the following work has been done as refurbishment for this sale:
Calibrated/re-tuned to factory specification.
Tunes in less than 5-10 seconds now after 20 minutes warm up period.
PSU capacitors replaced with long life Phillips ones & checked the power rails to be within specification.
5 front panel tact switches replaced & all 7 rear jack sockets replaced.
New Z80B keyboard CPU fitted. 2 x new Common RAM fitted. 5 x new scratchpad RAM fitted.
All as a precaution for long term health & reliability.
(Receipts here for all replaced parts.)
Key bed and all keys individually removed & cleaned. (Pictures to prove.)
Key bed even over full span of 6 1/2 octaves. Spare spacers in Wine Country kit should you need.
After touch works 100% and always has in both Poly & Mono modes. (8 channels of after touch in mono mode.)
Front panel removed & cleaned, as well as all pots.
I replaced three key return hammer/spring/flanges when I bought it & still have two new spares.
Factory programs have been reloaded for this sale and as an excellent starting point for learning the strengths of this machine.
This work was carried out by an ex-BBC engineer/technician with 30 years experience of servicing analogue & electronics gear.
In addition to the work done as refurbishment, this T-8 comes complete with EVERY possible accessory
including some that you wouldn’t find with any stock T-8’s, as follows:
1. Original foot pedal.
2. Original bound user manual & multiple MIDI revision update manuals.
3. Original preliminary service data complete with RARE full original schematics.
4. Original technical service manual with tuning procedures.
5. 128 Factory programs cassette from Wine Country and also as sysex files on CD.
Note: This latest Rev T-8 supports MIDI program dump/load to/from PC via sysex.
(No need to bother with cassette loading.)
6. Wine Country long term survival kit including CEM3360 dual VCA.
7. Wine Country the diagnostics/service ROM & manual.
8. 1 page promotional colour ad from Sequential on release (from a UK published magazine.)
9. Custom made flight case made by Adam Hall, UK but with an Amptown, Hamburg sticker on it.
Weighs 48 Kg in flight case, less all accessories which will be in another box.
10. Mains voltage regulator for 110 or 220V output.
These extras alone would be worth £500-£1000."

"Certainly one of the Kings of analogue poly-synths, up there with Yamaha CS-80, Elka Synthex, Memorymoog, Jupiter 8, etc. but more expressive than all of them thanks to a fully weighted 7+ octave keybed with powerful poly-aftertouch for all 8 voices, so expensive & time consuming to implement that it ultimately led to the closure of Sequential. The keyboard was so ingenious that New England Digital used it for the upgraded Synclavier II system that cost $20,000+ and of course Sequential founder Dave Smith has been back making modern analogue synths for a good many years now under his own name, so he's done alright post Sequential that's for sure."

Sequential Circuits Prophet 3000 - Rev B - 4MB memory - Working SCSI- Library
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction
via the seller: "Up for auction is my beloved fully restored Sequential Circuits Prophet 3000. This is a project I've worked on for many years. I've spent a lot of money and even more time getting it to where it is today. I don't think you'll ever see another one like it for sale.
Included in this auction:
Sequential Circuits Prophet 3000 Rev B with 4MB of ram installed
Remote Control with blue backlit screen
Properly formatted and working SCSI drive.
Custom analog sound library (50 sets)
Case of factory library disks
Operaton Manual
Service Manual with Schematics
OS disks and diagnostic disks
Wine Country Prophet 3000 Survival Kit
3 extra 1MEG DRAM Chips for memory
Extra Floppy Disk Controller IC
New Buttons on Remote
New Pots on sampler
New refurbished floppy disk drive
Here's the back story:
I bought it close to 10 years ago on ebay from a woman in Italy. It's a Rev B unit so the memory was able to be expanded from 2MB to 4MB. I painstakingly tracked down the 1MEG DRAM IC's and upgrade the memory, so this unit does in fact have 4MB of Ram installed. I then turned to the screen on the remote control. When I bought this unit, the backlight of the remote control was burned out, just like every other unit I have ever seen. Again, I did a bunch of research and figured out a replacement screen for it. The original backlight was white, but I used a blue one because… why not.. The life on this screen is something ridiculous like 10's of thousand of hours. I then replaced the floppy drive because I was having trouble loading disks, so it has a refurbished floppy drive in it now. I then turned to the SCSI to see if I could get that working, I've never really seen one before with a working SCSI drive, but after tracking down the right kind of drive with the correct formatting I was able to get it working nicely. The fan on the drive is a bit noisy but that's what you get with old technology. I'm sure it could be modded to be nice and quite. I then ran across this guy in Ohio who owned an analog synth repair shop. He also owned a Prophet 3000. So whenever a synth would come in for repair he would sample it with the Prophet 3000. He had since sold his Prophet 3000 but he kept the library he created for some reason. I convinced him to sell it to me and that's what's inside the white box in the second photo. A lot of the disks were old and it often took multiple tries to get them to load into the sampler. Only a few of them were unsalvageable. Because I didn't feel like dealing with shoddy disks I went through and made copies of the entire library onto new Sony disks. That's whats inside two of the floppy disk cases you see in the second photo. The third floppy disk case is full of factory disks bought from Wine Country Sequential. There's nearly every OS that came out for the Prophet 300 in there. There's also the diagnostics disk which I used to show that all the memory is working properly and is in fact expanded to 4 MB. Other maintenance I've done on this unit include installing all new buttons on the remote control, new potentiometers on the sampler itself, and I've replace most of the SCI proprietary IC's with new ones from Wine Country Sequential. I'm also including the Prophet 3000 Survival Kit from Wine Country. Some of the IC's in it are the ones I replaced but were perfectly fine, and some are still the new ones. I also have 5 additional 1MEG DRAM chips that I'm including in case one of them goes bad (for the memory). Also included is the Operation Manual and the Service Manual with Schematics in a binder. I think that about does it.
*** in fully disclosure the Prophet 3000 was Sequential's last product they were developing before they went out of business. Very few of them were released to the public as they were really still in beta testing mode. The result is that all the kinks were never completely worked out of the OS so they tend to be a bit buggy at times. I've heard of units that you can't work with because of this fact. However, while this unit can sometimes do some quirky things, it really works well and is pretty stable in my opinion. If you purchase this unit you're purchasing the quirks of it too, it just comes with the territory."

Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 SN 1509

"The Prophet 5 that I am offering for sale here is an immaculate Prophet 5 Rev 3.0 and a true piece of music history. Everything is in great working order and has been checked, serviced, brought up to factory specs and tested by Wine Country Productions Inc (buyer will receive a copy of the original invoice from Wine Country to show everything that was fixed and/or replaced, with my personal info removed of course) including over 50 hours of operational burn-in without any failures to help ensure that this is what I believe to be truly one of the most exceptional examples of the legendary Prophet 5 available anywhere on the market today. All of the original programs were loaded by Wine Country as well. The wood condition is extremely good considering the age of this instrument: bright an lucid looking almost like it just rolled off the assembly line (see photos). There are a couple minor scratches/blemishes/dings/markings on the instrument (including a couple wood dings and a white marker written on the control panel near the Frequency knob) but nothing that I would say detracts greatly from the overall beauty of this amazing instrument"

Casiotone 701 Mystery Mod Discovered

"This is a Casiotone 701, that was outfitted with a simple mod and sealed off to the outside.
What happened was...
I was playing a gig with my band, and my bandmate spilled wine on the keyboard during our set. It immediately failed. On our set break, I decided to open it up to try to wipe up some of the wine on the inside and see if it might come back to life, and that is when I discovered this after market modification and accompanying note/diagram. It was wrapped inside a spongy wrapping and stuffed underneath the key bed with the note rubber banded to it. The mounting hole was boarded up with an inconspicuous black panel; Thus, I never really noticed anything suspicious. I had a chance to get the keyboard up on the bench and trouble shoot the wine spill. Basically, it dried itself out into a functioning order. (I never trust a repair if you didn't do anything to fix it.) But anyway, this mod is very simplistic - incorporating individual 1/4 outputs for drums, rhythm and keyboard, respectively. The most promising feature is a keyboard fuzz output. They also took the time to wire a computer pin out to the keybed, some familiar but ancient looking 20 or so pin connector. I'm not sure if I will be able to utilize their function.
Are there avid mystery-mod cult practitioners that you know of who would hide such a thing?"
If anyone out there knows, feel free to comment.

Vintage Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev2 SN 0486

via this auction
"For auction here is a vintage Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev2........serial number 486. This a one owner P-5. I purchased this Prophet new, in 1978, and used it for approximately three years. It was then put into storage inside its Anvil case in my warehouse/rehearsal building. That building, which I have occupied for the past four decades was sold last summer, and I got notice I would have to move out. I got the Prophet out last fall, and it would not power up correctly. I shipped it to Wine Country Sequentials in early April. Wine Country has been servicing and modifying Sequential Circuits product since the early 1980's, when the Sequential factory ceased operations. They are considered the Prophet 5 experts. I received delivery back from Wine Country last week, and this Prophet has been refurbished and serviced, and is now ready for a new owner.
The Rev2 Prophets were designed with the revered SSM chips, and are considered by most to be among the warmest, fattest sounding synths ever produced. The sound and flexibility of the Prophet 5's are legendary. This one keeps with that tradition, and sounds incredible."

Sequential Circuits Prophet VS Synthesizer SN 0118 with Extras
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
Interesting note from Wine Country Sequential regarding the pressure sensors. The Prophet VS is known to have their aftertouch go out over time. Wine Country Sequential was formed by ex Sequential Circuits employees and is still in business today. You can read up on their history here. The Prophet VS of course was the first Vector Synthesizer with four digital multi-waveform oscillators and a CEM based analog filter. You could use the joystick to morph the levels between the oscillators. Recent synths that contain the Prophet VS waveforms include the DSI Evolver, MEK and PEK and the John Bowen Solaris. The Evolver, MEK and PEK only have two oscillators available with the Prophet VS waveforms while Solaris has four plus other waveforms of course. Vector Synthesis made it's way into the Yamaha SY22 and TG33 followed by the KORG Wavestation line of synths. None had analog filters. The SY22 and TG33 allowed you to record the path of the joystick movement and the Wavestation added wave sequencing where you could loop through selected waveforms in sequence.
Via the seller/listing: "Classic 80's synth. I'm the original owner. Bought in 1986, serial # 0118. I'm including the original owners manual, sales brochure, 2 ram and 1 rom cartridge, power cord, soft shell case, technical information and schematics. I'm listing it in very good condition. Studio use only. Never been on the road. Had upgrades from both Sequential and Wine Country Sequential. The only issue that I know of with this synth is that I cannot guarantee that midi "aftertouch" also referred to as "pressure" will reach it's maximum value (127) when played from it's own keyboard. It will respond to the maximum value when played via midi cable from another keyboard or computer. Modifications 738 and 739 were performed by Sequential to address this design problem. The pressure pads have also been replaced. If not for this particular design flaw, I would have listed this instrument in excellent condition. This is an awesome sounding keyboard, like no other synthesizer in my personal opinion."
