The Delay - TC Flashback Triple, Oberheim OB-6, TRex Replicator, Strymon Cloudburst, Ibanez M80M
video upload by thesrabbit
"I was gonna call this "Lords of O'Brien No. 1", as a tribute to the greatest ambient guitar Youtuber, @chordsoforion But I opted for a less facetious and more utilitarian name. That way I can shamelessly shove the highlighted gear list in the title.
I got a TC Electronic Flashback Triple Delay recently and holy crap, instant inspiration. A bit of fiddling with the Toneprint editor and I had my 3 stacked delays for the main simulated Frippertronics tape loop. Then I said, well hell, I already have a TC Flashback II, might as well Toneprint a Frippertronics tape loop delay in that box too. So the OB-6 gets the Flashback II, and the guitar gets the Flashback Triple. I made a 4 step polyphonic sequence for the OB-6. The little Roland DP-2 switch cycles through each step. The Tonex hosts a capture of my own Peavey 6505 amp, clean channel with pre-gain at 6. There's a little (ok a lot) of Strymon Cloudburst at the end for the final chef's kiss.
Too much gear and too many parallel signal chains to list, but deep breath here we go...
Guitar: Ibanez M80M (8-string), IK Multimedia Tonex, Guptech Honker overdrive, Morley Little Alligator volume pedal, TRex Replicator tape delay eurorack module (somehow works fine at instrument level), Two Notes Torpedo Captor M+ with Ownhammer 412 Rect Balanced Cab IR, TC Electronic Flashback Triple Delay (delay 2 is the tape loop), Strymon Cloudburst Reverb
Synth: Oberheim OB-6, TC Electronic Flashback 2 (tape loop), Audiothingies Doctor A (stereo delay and reverb)
Guitar Synth: Boss SY-300, Strymon Cloudburst Reverb (plugin)
MIDI Mod for iOS adds random delay time shifts to the TRex Replicator via a Kenton MIDI to CV box.
Recorded live, first take! (can't f'ing believe it)
No post processing other than a little bit of the Strymon Cloudburst plugin for the final "glue"

The Beauty of Two Vermona Perfourmers - Deluge in Action #13
video upload by Krzysztof Steplowski
"🎹 Listen to the 8-voice Vermona Perfourmer! This time a simple improvisation, not a proper track.
🎹 Check my patches for synths: https://synth-patches.com/
👉 In this video I present an improvisation using two Vermona Performers chained together. Instead of two four-voice synths, I've got a single, eight-voice, polyphonic analogue beast.
👉 Both synthesizers are connected via a @Bome Box – this small device can distribute MIDI messages sent via a single channel to any number of MIDI channels. In this case, the Bome Box distributes each received note to eight additional MIDI channels, which I send to both synthesizers via a Midi Splitter (Banana Split in this case).
👉 All I need is a very simple motif based on a single pattern in Deluge. By playing with individual oscillators, I can introduce additional variations to that motif. Then, all that's left is to play with the effect—in this case, @audiothingies Doctor A."

06.17.2025 Man Machine for fun
video upload by batchas
"Music as therapy...
As usual I'm recording directly to one stereo track and I noticed while watching the video that the Minimoog is too loud (still I love its sound!) and the 808 bass drum a bit too low, but as I currently want to spend as less time as possible on the same project, I won't record another take and I'll move on to something different.
Sounds: Mos-Lab 2500, muSonics Minimoog, Roland Juno 60, Waldorf Q, Waldorf Pulse +, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Roland TR-808, Ace Tone Rhythm Ace.
Effect: Eventide H9, Hologram Microcosm, Audiothingies Doctor A."

06.06.2025 Radio Aktivitaet for fun - Take 1
video upload by batchas
"Can't of course beat the original masterpiece by Kraftwerk, but it won't stop me to have some fun playing with all these beautiful machines.
I record only one take, to not spend too much time on settings and fine tuning.
If I had to record a second time, I'd finish the track differently.
I'll prob. do next a video to show the different audio sources / MIDI tracks before moving forward to another tune. For now here's how the differents elements arrive:
00:00 Mellotron
00:12 TR-808
00:18 Minimoog
00:26 Waldorf Q
00:35 Mos-Lab 2500 (oscillator 2 on filter 1)
01:08 Mos-Lab 2500 (white noise on filter 2)
01:10 Roland Juno 60
Effect: Audiothingies Doctor A"

Take 2 here
"I hesitated to make this one public because of all 'thumb down' enthusiasts, but no matter how, music is my therapy and it won't stop me having fun with my machines, without any stylistic boundaries.
Pretty sure I'll record one more take of this one, cause it's far to be perfect and it's a lot of fun to play. I was 14 in 1977 when the Cerrone 'Supernature' video clip came on TV. We had never seen something like this on french TV back then and as a kid I was pretty much impressed.
As usual, one take, no editing, recorded directly to stereo out.
The MIDI tracks play muSonics Minimoog, Roland Juno 60, TR-808, Waldorf Q, Waldorf Pulse+, Oberheim Matrix 1000 and one plugin, the Mellotron. Effect = Audiothingies Doctor A.
It's quite a long version cause I did loop the last measure and could not stop playing!"

05.23.25 Blade Runner for fun - Mos-Lab 2500 & Matrix 1000

"Therapeutic time with today's version of yesterday's patch. This time with only Mos-Lab 2500 and Oberheim Matrix 1000 active tracks and the other synths are muted. With additional delay/reverb from Audiothingies Doctor A. Recorded in one take, so I don't spend more than one hour per session."

05.22.25 Blade Runner for fun - Take 1
video upload by batchas
"Like with the precedent video, this one is to me therapeutic. And of course it's far to be comparable to Vangelis' masterpiece. I like synth sounds and I like the exercice of spending one hour a day per session.
It took only three sessions to get there, which makes me think that in two or three more sessions there'd be enough room to make a really cool song. If and only if I decide to spend more time on this piece. This I don't know. Time will tell!
Audio sources: Mos-Lab 2500, muSonics Minimoog, Roland Juno 60, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Waldorf Q.
Effects: Audiothingies Doctor A, Hologram Microcosm (very tiny bit of this one on one 2500 voice).
One take. Direct out to stereo."

Sax In The Acid Rain (Sequential OB-6, Pro-2, Doctor A, QuadraVerb, MIDIVerb II)
video upload by hypergol
"I got a real camera. You'll know the shots when you see them. Unfortunately I don't have a tripod yet so most of the footage is from my phone, which sucks in low light. Anyways... I've had this little movie "epilogue" like riff on the OB-6 for awhile now. Perfect for walking down the dark streets in a deluge of dystopian acid rain. It just needs a sweet sax lead over the top. I spent quite a few hours trying to get a saxxy sound out of the Pro-2. I figure it's the best synth I got for taking on that daunting task. I'm using both filters, all 5 envelopes, every type of drive, all character FX, linear FM, and just a bit of the onboard delay for some width and depth. It sounds pretty reedy in the lower registers but rounds out as you move up the keyboard. The OB sound is classic. Not much to say about that. Generous amounts of delay and reverb courtesy the Audiothingies Doctor A and then I'm running everything through a MIDIVerb II + QuadraVerb combo as a master reverb, which completes the future dystopian from an 80's low-budget movie perspective feels. "Sax in the Rain" was already taken. So you get a half-baked title to go with a half-baked 4K video and a half-baked thumbnail and a half-baked performance with a full-on run-on sentence. Someday I'll rework this into something proper and release it.
Update: I did a proper release of this song with new performances, synths, and additional sonic elements. Check it out on the Afterburner XXIV album over at https://hypergol.bandcamp.com"

0000 0000 1000 0110 1001: Live in the studio by Hypergol (Oberheim OB-X8 instrumental)
video upload by hypergol
"This track utilizes the first patch I made after unboxing the amazing OB-X8 from Oberheim. It's a nice, lush, unmistakably "Oberheim" pad sound using the OB-Xa 24db filter. It starts off with the patch split, with an arp on the upper layer and then moves to double mode (stacked) with 4 voices panned hard left and 4 hard right. On the album version, I didn't do any stacking, opting to double track instead so that I could get the full 8 notes of polyphony. There are some challenges when limited to 4 notes, particularly with envelope triggering. It's fairly obvious here in the latter section of this live performance, as there are some notes that aren't nearly as soft as I'd like them to be. The beautiful modulated plate reverb from the Audiothingies Doctor A helps to make things less jarring. In this performance, I occasionally sweep the filter of both layers (rather poorly) with a foot pedal. The battery on my real camera is dead, so no fancy moody bokeh in this video, unfortunately.
Check out the original track over here on my bandcamp page:"
Fripper Tripper (Frippertronics with synths: DSI/Sequential Pro 2, Lyra-8, Boss RE-20, DD-20)
video upload by hypergol
"For Black Friday, I bought myself Boss DD-20 and RE-20 delay pedals specifically for exploring Frippertronics. They showed up yesterday and I promptly recorded my first jam. It starts with a simple 2 oscillator drone from the modular running through a spring reverb tank (1 Eowave Titan and 1 Roland 512 VCO) The melodies consist of different patches that I've made on the Pro 2, which is another recent purchase. A little further along I introduce the Lyra-8 into the mix, because anything experimental should probably include the Lyra. Unfortunately I didn't have its output level up high enough, and you can't really hear it in the repeats, which is a shame. Other than not getting output levels matched ahead of time, I'm pretty pleased with the result. The modular, Pro 2, and Lyra are also running through the Audiothingies Doctor A in parallel, which is set to a long ping pong delay and a very long modulated plate reverb. To add some tape warble, I fed an attenuated LFO from the Roland 540 module into the RE-20's expression pedal input, which adjusts the "twist" parameter. Everything runs through the DD-20 first, which has a delay time of 7.1 seconds and is set to the "modulated" delay type, then from there it runs into the RE-20. I wonder what it would sound like if the signal chain was reversed. I bet one could pull off mellotron strings vibes pretty easily with this setup."

Morning meditation with Buchla, Kesako & Morphagene
video upload by batchas
"I tried this small setup this morning in a 30 mins recording session.
This video is the first half of the session with a few cuts (the parts when I plug cables into the 258j for instance and it do that does not react - it's an old DIY project and I need to repair the faulty CV IN).
First time using the Morphagene in a patch (loaded with field recording samples).
External effects are: Audiothingies Doctor A, Eventide H9, Hologram Microcosm."
Morning meditation with Buchla, Kesako & Morphagene [Part 2]
"I tried this small setup this morning in a 30 mins recording session.
This video is the second half of the session, uncut.
First time using the Morphagene in a patch (loaded with field recording samples).
External effects are: Audiothingies Doctor A, Eventide H9, Hologram Microcosm.
I heard via headphones some saturation while preparing the video, which I didn't hear during recording. It looks like I did not set correctly the stereo level on the inputs of the Antelope Discrete 4. It would not be the first time. When I listen on YouTube it's even worse :(
A shame, cause I really enjoyed how this session did sound while improvising live."
