"Reissue of the classic Korg 700S. It might seem comparatively expensive but it is beautiful to play and look at. I think Korg have discontinued these so wait 5 years and this won’t seem so expensive. In near mint condition with its bespoke case, manual and external 12V power supply (everything it came with apart from the cardboard box it came in. A classy keyboard with aftertouch (assignable). It also has the following, not on the original 50-year-old synth): assignable joystick, midi in, arpeggiator (with 7 modes), usb midi, audio in, and 14 memories (you may laugh thinking about modern standards, but this synth is all about its immediacy). Dimensions (W x D x H): 744 x 280 x 122 mm. Weight 8.5kg."

Korg 770 with Kenton CV/Gate/Filter Mod SN 770934
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this listing
"One of the rarer ones in the line up, somewhere between a 700s and an MS-20, featuring the amazing Traveler filter, superb sounding ring mod and very unusual chromatically playable noise.
Imported from Japan in 2018, professionally serviced then and fitted with a Kenton Kit allowing external CV/Gate/Low Pass Cutoff Frequency control, under the Korg standard, so you need a Hz/V (as opposed to 1V/Oct) capable interface, like Kenton boxes, Arturia Keystep, various options in Eurorack...
Great cosmetic condition, no missing metal ring to any of the knobs, which seems to have happened to a lot of those. A noticeable chip to one wood side, otherwise only a few regular micro paint chips and dings, clean example overall.
Great working condition, amazing sound."

'Classic Flute' - How to create a more realistic all-analog patch than Classic vintage preset synths
video upload by AJH Synth Official
"A more realistic flute patch than you'll find on classic vintage synths, showing how it's possible to attain a more convincing recreation of an acoustic sound with modular synths, and without the need for samples or digital modules. A truly realistic flute is too much of a tall order - a greater amount of modules, and a more complex controller, would no doubt get you nearer, but here is a more modest way of achieving a reasonable, and nice-sounding impersonation.
Some of the early self-contained synths of the 1970's tried to make useable impersonations of 'real', acoustic or familiar instruments using easily-selectable presets with a very simple voice architecture. Some sounded better than others, but whilst they were often sonically appealing in their own right, they were seldom anywhere near realistic. Among the more famous were the ARP Pro Soloist, Roland SH1000/SH2000, and the Korg 700/700S - all of which very characterful and unique instruments, with their own strengths, and much loved to this day. This patch is a nod to those classic synths, but also exploring what is possible now with modest amount of purely analogue Eurorack modules.
Patch sheet with notes below.
The AJH SYNTH Eurorack range consists of high-end modules, all hand-made in the UK, most of which are based on classic, vintage designs, authentically recreating the circuitry of much sought-after analogue instruments and technologies of the past, whilst greatly expanding them, and bringing them to modern Eurorack levels of convenience, limitless flexibility, and reliability.
Check out the AJH Synth playlists for module 'User Guides', and 'Patch of The Week' videos, which will be either performances or 'how to' guides, detailing functions/methods, and a range of sounds, some familiar, some less so, containing a patch sheet at the end to show you how to construct it for yourself.

NOTES
_______
Green dots show approximate pot and switch positions. Pots and switches that do not have green dots are not used in this patch, and should be left at their zero or off positions. Multiple cables may branch from one output to different destinations, so here a multiple should be used.
This patch needs a lot of fine-tuning, so precise pot positions cannot possibly be illustrated, but this should serve as a starting point, from where further experimentation should be applied. The video tries to explain what is happening with the core modules, which should make it easier to understand what needs fine-tuning.
KEYBOARD: Here the controller's MOD output is used to send Aftertouch, but alternatively Velocity, or direct control from the MOD wheel/strip could be sent to the Dual LFO's CV input instead, depending on your controller and personal preference. In the video I also used the Glide module as 'slew' to soften the harsh changes in aftertouch CV from this particular controller, which may not be needed on others.
TAP TEMPO LFO: Because the base tempo is selectable by tap, the rate of the LFO will have to be set by ear.
VCO: If you don't wish to use the envelope to affect PWM, then PWM SHAPE will need to be set just below -1 - the envelope makes a subtle difference here, changing the shape of the VCO's sound slightly.
NEXT PHASE: This is optional, as the noise is heard subtly in this patch, and only becomes more apparent when the AUDIO MIX of the Gemini is in favour of VCF1 (noise) rather than VCF2 (VCO), but to my ears it makes the sound of the noise more similar (see video description).
GEMINI 2412: I'm using the 'high resonance' setting on VCF1. which is set by the rear jumper, or optionally using the Gain Switch (see User Guide video or manual on the website. Without it the resonance will need to be set to maximum, but still might not be quite enough.
Modules used from top-left to bottom-right: Glide + Noise, Vintage Transistor Core VCO, Contour Generators, V-Scale, Tap Tempo VC-LFO, Next Phase, Gemini 2412, Discrete Cascaded VCA.

"The miniKORG 700 was KORG’s first mass-produced monophonic synthesizer released in 1973 at a time when the form of synthesizers as musical instruments had not been fully established. After a lot of experimentation the miniKORG 700 arrived bringing the world of synthesizers to a wide group of users by offering simple operations that could producing extreme changes in sound, and was championed by a strong base of admiring musicians.

The revised miniKORG 700FS offers added functionality such as an arpeggiator, spring reverb and aftertouch. The miniKORG 700FS is a fully-realized analog synthesizer that was developed in conjunction with the original designer, Fumio Mieda.
Why revive the miniKORG 700 now?
The real beauty and awesomeness of the sounds produced by the miniKORG 700 could not be realized through analog modeling technology that uses computational integrated circuitry such as DSPs and other devices to model analog circuitry. And although KORG continues to produce analog synthesizers such as the prologue, the minilogue and many others, we recognize that these instruments owe their existence to the miniKORG 700.
While theoretical know how is important when designing analog circuitry, deep experience is also required to understand what the results will actually be once the circuitry is completed. Ten years have passed since the monotron, a next-generation analog product from 2010 was developed by young KORG engineers and analog enthusiasts. It took some time for the full vision of these engineers to be explored and delivered but at last we’ve finally arrived – at the start.
Our wish is for customers to experience the beauty and awesomeness of the authentic analog sound through the miniKORG 700FS designed by the KORG analog engineers under the supervision of Fumio Mieda, who designed the original circuitry, ensuring that the elements that go beyond the circuit schematics would be faithfully represented.
Beautiful synth leads, thick bass – and more
While the miniKORG 700 was KORG’s first synthesizer, it also produced some of the fattest and most dense sounds of all of our synthesizers. The miniKORG 700FS, features oscillators with a penetrating sound and an authentic recreation of the Traveler controller, one of the key features of the miniKORG 700.
The volca keys and volca bass use the filter circuit from the miniKORG 700, because the clear and penetrating characteristics of this filter were a perfect match for products that specialize in lead and bass synth sounds with a strong presence. The miniKORG 700 sound sits easily in today’s music, particularly with its lead and bass synth sounds.
The possibilities as a sub keyboard
The miniKORG 700 came about as a sub keyboard that players would set atop their organs (frequently used in the 1970s) to augment the organ’s sound palette. Nowadays, the beautiful lead synth sound of the miniKORG 700FS works well with stage keyboards such as or electric pianos, organs and so on.
The controls on the miniKORG 700 were laid out below its keys in a row, so that players who set the instrument on top of their organ would find them easy to access. Even today, this layout is intuitive and easy to understand, with a unique look that no other instrument offers.
Functionality we added to the original
When the miniKORG 700 was originally released, electronic components were larger in size, limiting its functionality due to the small space inside. Thanks to changes in technology, we now have more space to add a spring reverb effect as well as a joystick for pitch bend and modulation. The new version also features aftertouch for added expressiveness, as well as important features an arpeggiator, USB port, MIDI IN connector and a CV/GATE IN jack.
We’ve also added a memory program button, so there’s no need for players to write down the positions of the knobs and levers to recreate their favorite sounds.
Traveler controller
The most characteristic feature of the miniKORG 700, the Traveler controller consisted of two sliders situated below the keyboard. With these controls, players could adjust the cutoff frequency, with the upper lever controlling the low-pass filter and the lower lever controlling the high-pass filter. This gave players the freedom to adjust the expressive character of the sound according to the position of the levers. By moving the levers to the left and right while playing the keys, wah-wah and muted sounds could be created along with the iconic 'traveling' sound.

Univox Korg MiniKORG 700S K-2
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
"Korg's early synthesizer design from the early 70s - this is branded under the Univox name for the North American market. This is the 700s or K-2 version which adds more modulation options and a second oscillator over the 700 or K-1 version. This also has the fine tune slider for the second oscillator, which some 700s/K-2 models don't have. It makes tuning much easier and makes this the best iteration of the Minikorg (in my opinion)!
Very unique sound with the low and hi pass filters in tandem. Controls are easy to use so you can focus on playing. Overall very good cosmetic condition for its age and all the controls work. Missing Univox badge on the back and the previous owner sanded the tabs off the traveler caps so they don't lock together which is a common mod. Tuning is good and stable for a vintage VCO. All keys work. The "effect" on/off toggle make a little noise while flipping it but i bet a little contact cleaner will fix it. Comes with a very beat up original univox case that doesn't look pretty but protects the synth."

Korg 770 - The Smut Box
video upload by Alex Ball
"A look at the Korg 770 monophonic synthesizer from 1976, an incredibly grubby sounding instrument that I've dubbed 'the smut box'. In this video we explore what it sounds like and why.
0:00 Intro
1:23 Demo1 - Ring Me
2:10 Demo 2 - Tweedle Dee
3:05 Demo 3 - Sister Transistor
4:04 Why it sounds the way it does 5:36 Demo 4 - Distant Traveler
6:34 Summary
A note: I said in the video that this synth was the last of the first generation of Korg monosynths (miniKORG 700/700S, maxiKORG 800DV, SB100, 900PS) but have since realised that the M500 came out in 1977 that does still use the 'traveler'. However, that is a very limited preset synth and I'm sure you can see what I mean by the lineage from miniKORG to the MS range.
Thank you to the owner of various instruments used."

This has the most wicked leads and basses. SO many bands used this synth on session and gigs. I've owned or still own just about every analog synth made... this korg sounds like no other, and no other does what it does.. the closest ive found was with a Korg 770.. which is double this price and crazy hard to find."
