Birds by Aylesim -- Generative Melody Sequencer for Ableton Live (MaxforLive Demo)

video upload by Isotonik Studios

"Birds by Aylesim is a MaxforLive instrument that generates and evolves 16-step melodic sequences in real time -- no note programming required.

Get Birds here: https://isotonikstudios.com/product/b...

In this demo we walk through everything Birds offers: four generative styles (Stormo, Ostinato, Cantabile, and Puntillista), eight pitch mutation algorithms, and independent gate evolution controls that keep both the melody and the rhythm moving as the sequence plays.

The core idea is straightforward. Generate a sequence, set your Difference Limit, and Birds will drift away from that original reference and back toward it -- creating variation that stays musical. The bird-on-wire interface shows you exactly which notes are original, which have evolved, and which are inactive, so you always know where the sequence stands.

Whether you're building evolving loop beds, generating melodic material for a live set, or just breaking out of patterns you've played a hundred times, Birds gives you a sequence that works with you rather than sitting still.

Birds reads Ableton Live's scale and root key directly. Use it diatonic for in-key lines or switch scale mode off for chromatic and atonal results. Drive it from Ableton's transport or use MIDI Trigger mode to sync it to external hardware."

Static sequences repeat. Birds evolves. This MaxforLive instrument generates 16-step melodic sequences and mutates them in real time -- drifting away from the original idea and back again, creating melodies that breathe, shift, and surprise without losing their thread.

Inside you'll find:

Four generative styles -- Stormo, Ostinato, Cantabile, and Puntillista -- each producing distinct melodic character

Eight pitch evolution algorithms including Chromatic, Gravity, Smooth, Drift, Interval, and Rotate

Difference Limit control to set how far the sequence drifts from the original reference

Independent gate evolution with Shuffle, Density, and Chaos controls for rhythmic mutation

Generation tab with full control over density, note range, velocity range, and motif length

Ableton Live: 50 Dreamy Ambient Presets + Clips. Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

πŸŒ… Dreamscape Clouds is a collection of 50 presets + clips for Ableton Live that includes 10 Arps, 10 Pads, 10 Plucks, 10 Strings and 10 Synths.
πŸŽ† The bank is inspired by cosmic, dub and dreamlike moods, giving it a sweet, atmospheric and dreamy, lo-fi sound.

πŸ“¦ Get these sounds: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/able...
πŸ‘€ The author of the soundset is skendi (Arseniy Pushkov).

The timbres have a wide spectrum: from warm and cold, noisy and detuned, soft and punchy, dark and bright, clean and distorted, deep and airy.
Perfect for genres such as ambient, ID, downtempo, pop, cinematic, trance, deep, progressive, techno, breaks, jungle, drum and bass, dub and others.

πŸͺ Clips include additional motion, adding expressiveness. You can use them as a starting point and change notes, or use presets separately.
The presets are presented in the Instrument Rack format, which combines synths and effects in a single device.
Each Instrument Rack has 8 Macros that make it easy to develop timbre and adjust key parameters.

πŸŽ›️ The macros are a significant part of the soundset. They can change tone, LFO, distortion, space, effects mix, envelope parameters, add extra OSCs and others.
You may control them via MIDI controller like Push, use them for automation, or map the macros to Ableton modulators like LFO, Shaper, and others.
Modwheel makes the timbre brighter. Velocity affects volume and brightness.

Elastic OSC iOS MPE Update & Android Release

video upload by Elastic Instruments (Oliver Greschke)

"Elastic OSC 1.3 adds long-awaited MPE support to iOS.
Unlock expressive control and shape sounds with polyphonic aftertouch and per-note gestures.
Map Glide (X), Slide (Y), and Pressure (Z) to synthesis parameters and control them with external MPE controllers or the built-in keyboard (X and Y). As with any MPE instrument, all gestures work polyphonically, meaning each note can control parameters independently — for example different gains or timbres depending on the pressure applied to each key.

The Android version offers the same features as iOS — just at a much lower price!!

The update comes with more than 100 new presets by @JakobHaq , @redskylullaby , Nerk and others — lots to explore!

Strumming on ATRIUM: Keyboarder wants to be Guitarist #whimsicalraps

video upload by Pete Midi

"Whimsical Raps Atrium implements a very special way to play a synthesizer. In combination with the special sound engine it's fun to discover a new world behind the classical synthesizer universe. In this jam I explore the possibilities of the strum touch plate and the chord/scale settings with a distorted guitar like sound. Note that no dedicated guitar effects like overdrive or distortion were used, just a reverb (Eventide Blackhole) and a standard delay (Ableton). The backing track I made with the IK Multimedia Modo Bass and Drum plugins."

Dawless Techno Jam with Didgeridoo & PVC Pipes | Circuit Tracks + Rhythm

video upload by Underground Modulation

"πŸ”₯ Dawless Techno Groovebox Jam | Custom Samples (Didgeridoo & PVC Pipes)

In this video I perform a dawless techno groovebox jam built around custom samples and organic textures. This track combines electronic grooves with unusual sound sources like didgeridoo and PVC pipe samples, creating a unique and experimental techno atmosphere.

The setup features two powerful grooveboxes:
πŸŽ› Novation Circuit Tracks
πŸ₯ Novation Circuit Rhythm

Both grooveboxes handle rhythmic and melodic elements, working together in a seamless combo setup. The Circuit Rhythm brings character through custom sounds, blending organic tones with electronic beats for a distinctive underground techno vibe.

This is a fully DAWLESS performance — everything is sequenced and performed live on the hardware.
Final mastering is done in Ableton Live to enhance clarity and punch while preserving the raw live energy.

Minimal Electronica with Softball MIDI and Digitone | Extra Ball 2026-03-20 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A minimal electronica piece where MIDI from ‪@noine-giron‬ Softball https://store.noine.net/softball.html is sent to Digitone for sound generation.

Softball by noine runs on a Mac and sends MIDI sequences to the Digitone via USB MIDI, triggering the sound.

On the Digitone, the knobs are used to shape and modify the sound of each track in real time."

Some info on Softball, Google translated:

"A macOS MIDI sequencer that is simply fun to use—featuring the playful motion of a bouncing ball. It is currently available for purchase on Payhip.

・Simple ・Highly expressive ・Fun to use
These three principles form the core of its design. While I do plan to add more features in the future, I intend to remain steadfast in upholding these three fundamental pillars.
DAWs like Ableton Live consolidate almost every conceivable function into a single package, allowing you to do just about anything; I rely on them heavily myself.
However, isn't there also a unique joy in treating individual applications on your computer as distinct modules—combining them in various ways to create something new? This very concept is why I chose to handle MIDI directly rather than developing this as a standard plugin. And, of course, sending MIDI signals out to trigger external hardware instruments is a delight in its own right!
I have intentionally designed the interface to avoid the need for precise note-by-note (Do-Re-Mi) input via a traditional piano roll. Instead, I encourage you to experiment with different keys and scales to find the perfect musical balance that feels right to you. My hope is that you will feel free to create and play sounds in a way that feels natural and accessible.
But why the bouncing ball?
Aren't you a little tired of watching static step sequencers or piano rolls scroll endlessly across the screen?
I felt that the dynamic motion of a bouncing ball had a wonderful synergy with musical rhythm and beat. Plus—let's be honest—it just looks adorable as it bounces along!"

"Kassiopeia is a 4-channel DC interface that lets you control motors, solenoids, LEDs, fans, lights and more with MIDI or CV/Gate.

Tap, shake, vibrate, and move objects to create sound in ways you’ve never imagined. Build kinetic sound installations, trigger solenoids rhythmically, or illuminate objects for an immersive performance.

What if sound wasn’t just about speakers and synthesizers? What if you could make music by striking metal plates, shaking objects, or vibrating strings?

Kassiopeia is a 4-channel DC interface that turns movement into sound and light. It lets you control motors, solenoids, fans, LEDs and lamps using MIDI or CV/Gate. Each channel can either smoothly adjust power levels (great for controlling motors and movement) or send short, punchy triggers (perfect for percussive hits).

Designed for experimental musicians, sound artists, and tinkerers, Kassiopeia lets you:

Trigger solenoids to create percussive rhythms on any object.
Control motors and fans to shak, vibrate, or bow strings.
Control lamps and LEDs for an immersive performance.
Build kinetic sound sculptures that interact with the physical world.
Power-starve devices for glitchy, unpredictable results.
Simply connect it to a laptop via MIDI (Ableton-ready!) or control it with CV/Gate from your modular system.

During its development, we worked closely with Hildur GuΓ°nadΓ³ttir and her band Osmium, incorporating ideas from the modified Halldorophone used in the Joker soundtrack. It’s an instrument of endless possibilities—where will you take it?"

KASSIOPEIA actually made its first mention on the site back on May 7, 2025.

Benjolin & Ableton Octa Comb

video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto

"Benjolin Modular Synth (Sample Pack)
https://akihikomatsumoto.sellfy.store...
Bringing Harmony to the Edge of Sound
Octa Comb was created in response to a growing gap in experimental music. While modular synthesis and advanced DSP have opened new territories, much of the resulting sound remains inaccessible to broader audiences. Octa Comb offers an alternative path by transforming even abrasive or chaotic material into tonal, resonant textures.

Eight Filters, Infinite Resonance
At its core are eight finely tuned comb filters, capable of extracting pitch content from any audio input. Whether you are working with field recordings, dense modular patches, or raw noise, Octa Comb reshapes the material into harmonic structures that can be eerie, beautiful, or otherworldly.

Control Through Simplicity
Sound shaping is streamlined. Dial in the desired amount of feedback and feedforward. Then choose eight pitch points. Build dissonance, stack chords, or align to your favorite scale. No menu diving, no cryptic modulation paths—just direct and musical interaction.

Conceptual Techno Jam (DAWLESS) | Circuit Tracks + Circuit Rhythm

video upload by Underground Modulation

"πŸ”₯ Conceptual Techno Groovebox Jam | DAWLESS Performance

In this video I perform a conceptual techno groovebox jam built around custom samples and evolving rhythms. The track explores a deeper and more experimental techno atmosphere while staying fully groove-driven.

This setup uses two powerful grooveboxes: the Novation Circuit Tracks and the Novation Circuit Rhythm. Together they create a compact but very capable hardware techno setup.

Both Circuits handle rhythmic and melodic elements, allowing the track to develop organically during the performance. The Circuit Rhythm adds character through custom samples, while the Circuit Tracks provides sequencing, synth layers, and structural control.

This is a fully dawless jam — everything is sequenced and performed directly on the hardware using the Circuit Tracks and Circuit Rhythm. The final sound was mastered in Ableton Live to enhance clarity and punch while preserving the live energy.

If you enjoy dawless techno jams, groovebox performances, custom sample experiments, and live electronic music hardware setups, this video is for you."

Torso Live Session #5: Ctrls

video upload by torso electronics

"Torso Electronics presents the fifth live session recorded at our office space in Copenhagen.

In this episode, Copenhagen-based artist Ctrls presents a live set built entirely around the S4, using the samples he created for the factory sound library.

Ctrls: “It's composed without any sequencing, only looping and modulation, which is a totally new way of working for me, but which the S4 makes really fun and engaging. The Ableton Push 3 and Intech midi controller act as a my mixer and finalizer, and I'm triggering and effecting some drones and fx sounds from its launch grid. It was a great experience and I'm happy I got to exercise a less clubby side to my music. Big thanks to the Torso team for the opportunity.”

About Ctrls
The Ctrls project was founded In 2012. From the first release the presence of a highly individual sonic style was apparent and his fast paced and futuristic techno based sound has now been well established with a stream of respected music on labels such as Token Records, Earwiggle, Micron Audio, Mechatronica and Key Vinyl. A lifelong devotee of electronic dance music, DJ’ing and live performance are central for the project. This has resulted in many involved sets at globally notable venues such as Tresor, Berghain, Khidi, Fabric, Kit Kat, Fold, Basement NY, and Club Drugstore as well a residency at Copenhagens purest electronic venue: Den Anden Side. The future holds a wider scope as electro, breakbeats, noise and audio visual components are folded into the distinctive Ctrls sound palette."

SISTERS - Ambient session #29 // Mannequins Three Sisters, Arbhar, Panharmonium, Subharmonicon

video upload by David Falcon

"First sounds with the Mannequins Sisters, such an interesting little module. In its core is a triple filter (Hi, Low and Band Pass) but it works great as an spectral mixer. I am slowly modulating the frequency cutoff so that the different sounds come and go progressively. Very little resonance added, it can be very resonant!

Voice 1- Arbhar recording of my voice and ambient sounds with the internal microphone. High input of Sisters.
Voice 2 - Maths Tom sound into Rings. Center of Sisters.
Voice 3 - Panharmonium with a Random sequence from Pams into the Low input of Sisters.
These 3 voices go into the Xaoc Praga mixer, with Mimeophon and FX Aid in the sends. I am modulating the volume and panof
Voice 2 from Øchd and Pams, and the panning of Arbhar from Pams too. The mix goes through Qubit Mojave for the occasional reversed granular bleep.
Voice 4 - Subharmonicon through Blooper as a delay and Mercury 7 as Reverb.
Voice 5 - Low kick from DFAM

Recorded in a single stereo mix and mastered in Ableton."
