Voidcontrol MIDI Releases OB-6 Unofficial Editor: DAW Integration for the Oberheim OB-6

OB-6 Unofficial Editor - VST3 Demo video upload by Voidcontrol MIDI

"Voidcontrol MIDI has released the OB-6 Unofficial Editor, a Windows VST3 plugin that lets you control and automate the Oberheim OB-6 from within a DAW, just like a software instrument.

The OB-6 is a beloved analog polysynth, and the Unofficial Editor makes it straightforward to integrate into a modern DAW session. Every parameter is on screen, organized by section, with real DAW automation on every control rather than just MIDI learn. A standalone version is also included.

Features include:

Full parameter control, organized by section
Real DAW automation lanes for every parameter (VST3 version)
A patch library with naming, categories, search, and sharing
A polyphonic sequencer that plays back on the OB-6 itself
A/B snapshots with an automatable morph slider
Editing of the OB-6's global settings
A resizable interface (50% to 300%)

The editor has been tested in Ableton Live, Bitwig, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, and Waveform, and works in the Windows 11 MIDI 2.0 environment.

'I built it because I wanted my OB-6 to fit into my DAW the way my soft synths do, and I designed it to be something I'd want to use myself every day,' said Dave of Voidcontrol MIDI.

Voidcontrol MIDI is a small US-based developer making editors for boutique and classic hardware synths. The OB-6 Unofficial Editor is its second release.

The OB-6 Unofficial Editor is available now at voidcontrolmidi.com for an introductory $30 USD through June 16, 2026, after which it returns to its regular price of $40 USD.

For more information: https://voidcontrolmidi.gumroad.com/l/mqbtla

The OB-6 Unofficial Editor is a third-party tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Sequential or Oberheim. 'OB-6' is a trademark of its respective owner."

Creation - Ableton Move as Master Clock - USB Sync Jam (DrumBrute Impact + Apocalypse + Pill)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"In this dawless jam, I wanted to experiment with the Ableton Move as the master clock, syncing the Arturia DrumBrute Impact using nothing but a single USB cable.

Actually the setup worked quite well throughout the session, even if the clock jitter is really visible on the DrumBrute Impact's tempo display.

The rhythmic foundation comes mainly from the DrumBrute Impact and its internal sequencer, while all melodic content (bass & pads) comes from the Ableton Move.

For this jam, I used four 'Audio Tracks' on the Move, loaded with loops and sequences that I originally recorded years ago in my DAW using software synthesizers such as Reveal Sound Spire, Arturia Spark... It was interesting to give these older recordings a new life inside a hardware-focused workflow ๐Ÿ˜Š

If you're using an Ableton Move with external hardware, I'd be curious to hear about your experience using it as a master clock ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hardware used:

Ableton Datashifter Max for Live Device

video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto

https://akihikomatsumoto.sellfy.store...

"Most glitch processors treat rhythm as something to destroy. Datashifter takes a more controlled approach. It breaks the surface of percussion while preserving the force underneath.

Designed as an Ableton Max for Live device, Datashifter captures short fragments of incoming stereo audio into an internal memory system, then reads those fragments back through multiple voices. These voices can stutter, reverse, jump to earlier moments, or shift playback speed in octave based steps.

The result is not a simple repeat effect. It feels closer to a live editing system for drum time. The groove continues to move forward, while small pieces of its memory are rearranged, folded, interrupted, and returned to the beat.

video upload by Haiko Senchan

"For this track, I ran the Sequential Fourm through the Fairfield Shallow Waters pedal and recorded a sounds, sounds, sounds. I added effects in Ableton, and slowly this soundscape emerged, feeling warm and dense yet somehow open. In the video, I played a key/lead sound live, and you can see and hear the result. I hope you like the track as much as I do.

"What exactly is Link? What can it do? Where did it come from and how will it help me?
Link is a wireless sync protocol that keeps music apps and devices in time — all the time.

No drift corrections every 5 minutes.

Open an app with Link enabled and it syncs up effortlessly. Tempo changes update everywhere. Start playing, stop playing — everything locks.

Simple. Elegant. Powerful.

Morphor ECHON 6 & Erica Synths Hexdrums | Winterdagen

video upload by Winterdagen

"What a magical combination! The other day I tried to run my current favourite drum machine the Erica Synths Hexdrums trough the audio input of the Morphor ECHON 6 and I was blown away by the result.

In this piece, Hexdrums is being used as an exciter for ECHON's six analogue BBD resonators, which are playing a chord progression coming via a midi cable from Ableton Live. I'm using both the knobs on Hexdrums as well as ECHON 6 to create movement and build-ups, and in the second build-up I'm also feeding in some of ECHON's amazing noise generator. Such an amazing sound!"

ERAE Sound — A Taste of What's Inside | Preset Snippets

ERAE Sound pairs every sound with a dedicated surface layout. 83 complete instruments, each with its own voice, its own feel, its own way of being played. Slide, press, brush, damp — the sound follows your intention in real time.

Fading Horizons | Ambient Session with Sequential Fourm & Digitone2 (Soft Pulse 10)

video upload by Haiko Senchan

"It's been a wild week, and the Sequential Fourm has arrived. This is my first real session with the synth, and I think I like it. I always thought I didn't need a keyboard, but I guess I was wrong. Since the synth doesn't have any built-in effects, I naturally added plenty in Ableton. Delay, reverb, and a few other things to give the sound some punch as part of the Ambient series.

All the sounds are from the Fourm except for one arpeggiator line. I used Stepic to trigger the Digitone and opened and closed the filter in the video. I also played the high pad live during the video.

I think the synth will be staying for a while; it was a real joy to create this track, and I hope you like it.

I wish you all a happy, sunny weekend."

Bad Gear - FORCE in 2026???

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. There are electronic musical instruments with a clear purpose: analog synths deliver classic tones and social media swag, plugins and workstations are great tools if you actually want to make money and Eurorack is still a healthier form of escapism than buying pills at a gas station.

Today, however, we are going to talk about The Force. The mission of this unholy 2019 lovechild of an MPC and Ableton incarnate was nebulous from the beginning and since then the machine was so profoundly transformed by a slow yet steady stream of updates that it is hard to tell whether it is still worth using it in 2026 - or if it ever was."
