We caught up with Bristol-based band ‪@SCALERBAND‬ to find out more about their sound and the workflow behind their live session.

We collaborated with SCALER to bring you performances of Broken Entry, Mirage, and Cold Storage from their latest record; watch via the link below.
But after the band’s live session, we spoke with Alex Hill and James Rushforth about their live electronic setup. In this video, the band explain in depth how they brought together this live setup and how it all works in unison, blending electronics, metal inspired guitars, and dreamy vocals. "The Novation Ultranova is one underrated synth. On one hand, they're kind of "old news," but they are cheap, and full of great sounds. The overall sound of the Ultranova reminds me of something like the Korg Radias, but these fetch much lower prices than the Radias does. Editing sounds is fairly intuitive despite the interface. Definitely worth checking out if you come across one. I use one in my live rig, since it's something easy to replace if needed, it weighs nothing, and there are plenty of them out there."

"Novation Peak review after nearly a year of real use - in tracks, in live performances, alongside the Digitakt II and Launch Control XL 3.

Novation sent me the Peak a year ago and I told them upfront that I might not review it, because I prefer to make music, not gear reviews. But after all these tracks, I think there are three things about this synth more people should know about, so I want to share my take on it.

"This is my first time playing with the WAEVE82 wavetable synthesizer from tangible waves. Here in the VF mini package complete with full MIDI and audio connectivity and MultiFX module for lush reverbs, shimmers and a dozen other effects. I'll make more tutorial style videos over the next few weeks, but wanted to give you a taste of what it sounds like. Personally I think it sounds amazing, but you be the judge!
