Introducing Photosynthesis - Solar Powered Generative MIDI Instrument

video upload by Olydian Musical Instruments

"The Photosynthesis is a portable, solar-powered, generative MIDI synthesizer and drum machine. It has a unique tonal touch keyboard, which can be selected to play in any key and 16 different musical scales. It features a powerful arpeggiator and sequencer, which can be controlled very precisely, or let loose to create new and unexpected results.

The built-in sounds are made with beautiful, nostalgic, wavetable synthesis. There is MIDI out, so you can control other instruments with this one. There are also built-in effects.

The case is made from a hardwood: North American Cherry. The solar charging top piece of the case comes standard and protects the instrument from damage while on the move."

Photosynthesis In-Depth Demo - 👽 Solar Powered Synth ☀️

video upload by Olydian Musical Instruments

"Hello! This is a portable, solar-powered synthesizer, sequencer, and drum machine. It has internal sounds as well as MIDI out. I am hand-building these on a small scale, and they will be available for purchase early 2025. We are a small company with very big hearts and ideas. Much love to everyone ❤️

#jamuary2024 03 Plantwave & JD-08 in F# PentMin

video upload by SynthAddict

"From last night, fell asleep before uploading...

-Plantwave with iOS app (Bluetooth), preset set for F# PentMin
-Roland Boutique JD-08
-Irijule Theoryboard set for F# PentMin
-Korg MiniKP
-Edirol M-10MX

Plantwave connected to a sprig of St. John's Wort in medium light. I tried to modulate the plant response with red and white lights (to stimulate photosynthesis further) - not much reaction this time.

See my older video on Plantwave where I demo white, red, and UV pocket lights to change the plant response and the synth modulation follows - sort of like a biological D-beam control. :-) [posted here]

I think the Plantwave app preset wasn't set to modulate the sounds the same way my Roland MC-101 was in the older video. Next time I will do a demo of Plantwave connected via MIDI to a hardware synth."

Cherry Audio Mercury-6 - Sound Bank '79

video upload by Polydata

"Drawing from the earliest days of polyphonic synthesizers, Sound Bank ‘79 for the Cherry Audio Mercury-6 finds its inspiration in synthesizer music found in documentaries and library music from the late 70’s and early 80’s.

A bank comprising 30 patches for instant inspiration. The goal was to squeeze as much vintage analog juice out of this plug-in as possible, primarily working within the constraints of the original Roland Jupiter-6 analog poly synth. This plug-in sounds awesome and brings the classic Roland sound and user interface that we all love.

Sound Bank '79 is a series of vintage tones for different synths and plug-ins, so look out for future releases. Recorded completely dry with no external effects or processing."

Brain v2 Teaser

Brain v2 Teaser from Livid Instruments on Vimeo.

"Testing out the new Brain v2, I repurposed the Code Step Sequencer (as featured here: cycling74.com/2012/01/17/working-with-hardware-livids-code-part-two/) so it would work with these MIDI controller parts.
I hooked up a couple of the Livid Elements modules to the Brain, and hooked up my photosynth (an array of 16 photoresistors, described here: blog.lividinstruments.com/2011/04/22/photosynthesis/) to control the effects on one of the sounds (parameters on the reverb, delay, and filter). I use my crummy cellphone camera's light to provide a source of photons to alter the effects in a dramatic fashion."
