MiniMoog Program for Akai MPC4000, Z4, Z8 Samplers

video upload by TONELAB

"Listen with Headphones if possible.

Quite possibly, the closest thing to having a 'Moog Plugin' inside your MPC4000, Z4 or Z8. Rather than settle for a traditional 'multi-sampled' Instrument, having only a few or a dozen (at most) Samples onboard, and declaring it a 'MiniMoog'. I wondered, 'why not capture EVERY KEY from the original Model D MiniMoog?' ..and give one of the most celebrated Synthesizers of all time the closest possible incarnation on Akai's most revered Samplers of all time?!

Furthermore, the MPC4000 is quite a beast, in that, it can Sample at 24-bit / 48kHz, which is perfect to capture such a prized vintage Synth that's revered for it's thick, rich tonality. From that point, I wanted it for myself.

And so, with the labor done, we now have, what I consider, the most ambitious MPC of all-time loaded with arguably, the most celebrated Synth of all time.. and well, here's the result.

A first look at this labor of love, and I can't tell you how good it felt to finally play chords with sounds from a vintage Model D! ..evidently, I overloaded the MPCs internal Mixer, but, knowing full well I did overload the MPCs output, I didn't think it was necessary to sugar-coat the 'first look', and thought, this 'overloading' was just as important to include as the rest of it. As one could expect, if you played 5 MiniMoogs side-by-side.. you too, would probably overload what ever Mixer they're running into, too.

A simple reduction in resonance and/or Program volume, and there's more headroom to reach with those 'wider' chords.

Anyway, warts n' all, here it is, just as I was discovering in real-time. The nature of all of 88 individually cut and looped Samples playing alongside each other. Something the original MiniMoog simply can not do.

Here's hoping you enjoy this fascinating discovery of how the MPC4000 'sounds' when faithfully loaded up with 88 Samples from an original 1976 MiniMoog Model D's Ramp Oscillator! (Actually the MiniMoog offered 96, but as most MIDI Keyboards offer up to 88 keys, I stuck with 88.

PS. 5 more MiniMoog-shapes coming soon!

Instruo - harmonaig Overview 2026

video upload by Instruō

"It's been 10 years since the harmonàig was developed. I think it's time for a deep dive into understanding how it can make modular more musical.

The harmonàig has always been one of the most musically powerful and compositionally focused modules in the Instruō range. It is a performance quantiser capable of transforming a simple CV sequence into rich, four-voice harmonic movement.

This new video offers a refined overview of the module's features and functionality, before diving into its implementation of musical harmony.

The second half introduces some music theory fundamentals, but more importantly demonstrates just how much can be achieved without needing to understand any of it (although it is fun!).

The harmonàig provides a framework for exploring chord progressions, patching harmonic relationships within a Eurorack system, and making complex musical structures feel intuitive and playable.

The harmonàig has remained a core part of the Instruō range for the past 10 years thanks to your continued support.

M‑VAVE FM‑1 Review & Sound Demo – Fun Pocket FM Synth

video upload by dongchannel

"How does this under‑$70 FM synthesizer perform? Check out this video for a full feature walkthrough, sound demos, and my honest thoughts.

I first spotted the M‑VAVE FM‑1 at this year's Guangzhou Musical Instrument Fair, and picked one up shortly after for about 300 RMB (around $60). The packaging is minimal, the unit itself is compact (16×9 cm), yet it packs everything you'd need. Connectivity is surprisingly generous, with both wired and wireless MIDI and audio support – really well‑equipped for its size.

Inside, you get a 6‑operator FM engine, essentially a recreation of a classic 1980s Japanese synth. It comes with 128 preset sounds, plus an effects chain, a 16‑step sequencer, an arpeggiator, and deeper editing tools. Pair it with an external MIDI keyboard and the playability expands even further.

Are there minor software quirks? Sure. But at this price, they're hardly worth mentioning. Compared to other portable sound gadgets in its class, the FM‑1 is just plain fun. And for the money, the build quality and feature set far exceeded my expectations."

Chase Bliss BIG TIME Delay Showcase | Sound Demo (feat. Modal Element One) ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬

video upload by Davide Puxeddu

"A pure audio demonstration of the Chase Bliss Big Time hybrid analog/digital echo, utilizing the newly released Modal Electronics Element One virtual analog synthesizer as the main sound source.
No talking, just hardware.

Designed in collaboration with John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiments (EAE), the Chase Bliss Big Time is a true-stereo hybrid echo that revisits the mixed-up, unique circuitry found in rackmount delays from the early 1980s. In that era, advanced analog engineering was functionally used to prop up crude digital systems. The Big Time intentionally embraces and pushes this hybrid architecture to its absolute extremes.

This video showcases how the Big Time's interactive controls and dual stages of analog coloration transform incoming synthesizer signals:

• Stereo Analog Preamp (Color): Adds beautiful, warm saturation to the input stage, designed to handle a wide variety of instruments.
• Feedback Loop Limiter (State): An analog clipping limiter in the delay path that creates everything from smooth compression to crumbling, misbiased overdrive that slowly disintegrates your echoes.
• Cluster Slider: Blends in additional delay taps and diffusion, smudging and expanding the sound into rich ambient delights and multi-tap clusters inspired by vintage space station units.
• Scale & Motion: Controls creative transposition, Thermae-like musical sequencing, and stereo modulation (Sine, Square, Envelope).

Watch how the Big Time's motorized faders react and seamlessly transition through different delay modes—from tight modulations (3-46ms) to Short (46-736ms) and Long delays, across HiFi, Focus, Warm, and Analog voicings.

Providing the core audio tracking is the Modal Element One. Its 8-voice virtual analog engine, morphable filters, and rich stereo waveforms offer the perfect high-quality sonic canvas to test the Big Time's true-stereo capabilities, input saturation, and analog dry-thru.

🎧 Headphones or studio monitors are highly recommended to capture the full true-stereo imaging and analog character of the pedal.

Special thanks to Chase Bliss!"

Exploring the Chromaplane: Live Improv, Tuning Screws, & External Drones

video upload by Andre Bregegere

"A live, fully improvised performance exploring the unique architecture of the Koma Elektronik Chromaplane. This session is a deeper dive into the instrument's hands-on playability—including on-the-fly tuning—and external input processing.

On-screen captions are included in the first half to break down the basics of the instrument and explain exactly what is happening under the hood.

Performance Breakdown:
• The Core: Sound generation starts with the Chromaplane, interacting directly with its electromagnetic fields.
• On-The-Fly Tuning: Watch as I use the tuning screws mid-performance to shift pitches and reshape the harmonic foundation in real-time.
• The Expansion: In the final act, things get heavier as I introduce an external input—the gritty, texture-rich Triad drone/noise synth by DecadeBridge.
• The Space: The entire mix is processed through the Universal Audio UAFX Starlight Echo Station to pull the mono signal into an immersive, wide stereo space.

The performance was recorded live, then lightly mixed and mastered in Pro Tools.

6. Unusable Engineering Jam | Curves & Membranes in a Different Context
7. Unusable Engineering Update | Curves & Membranes Features and Grain Discharge
8. Unusable Engineering Breakfast Jam | Curves & Membranes + Full Bundle

"Curves & Membranes is a focused mono synth built around a shapeable Bézier oscillator, two visual modulation systems, and a membrane-based filter. In this full walkthrough I go through the core ideas behind the instrument, how the oscillator works, how the preset morphing and orbital modulators create movement, and how the membrane filter shapes the sound.

The goal with Curves & Membranes was not to make a do-everything synth, but to build something more specific: a synth where sound, shape, and motion are tightly connected, and where the structure stays easy to understand while still allowing a lot of character and timbral movement.

More info: https://www.unusable.net/"

And a playlist of addtional plug-ins by Unusable Engineering:

Playlist:

1. Synaptic Resonance | Neural Vocoder Walkthrough

Synaptic Resonance is a neural vocoder-style effect where incoming audio, or an optional sidechain, excites a two-dimensional neural simulation. That simulation is then read back somewhere else and used to animate a bank of forty steep resonant band-pass filters.

In this walkthrough I go through the basic idea behind the plugin, show how the Stim Plane and Read Plane shape the behavior, and explain how the neural controls affect the way the model reacts, spreads, remembers, recovers, and settles.

The core idea is fairly simple: the input excites the model, and the output is affected by reading the model. That is what gives the plugin its character. It can behave like a vocoder, a resonant filter instrument, or something more unstable and alive depending on how it is set up.

The day has arrived

We’re proud to present the Bree6 Keyboard, our first synthesizer with an integrated keyboard, designed and produced in Argentina for the world. 💙

Built on a six-voice analog architecture, it delivers a powerful and expressive sound engine capable of everything from solid basses and leads to rich, evolving pads. Now expanded with a built-in sequencer and advanced arpeggiator, it becomes a complete performance and composition tool.

With its one-knob-per-function interface, semi-weighted keybed with velocity and aftertouch, and fully analog signal path, the Bree6 Keyboard is designed for immediate, hands-on control—no menu diving.
Immediate Control. No Menu Diving.

The Bree6 Keyboard version is designed to deliver an immediate and intuitive hands-on experience, eliminating the need for deep menu navigation. Its interface follows a one-knob-per-function philosophy, providing direct access to all key parameters for fast and precise sound shaping.

A Demo of mods driving the TastyChips Integral dual convolver pedal

video upload by ParadisoModular

"As I recently finished modifying my 'Integral' dual convolver pedal by TastyChips (https://www.tastychips.nl/) to accept control from multiple external CVs and gates, here's a quick demo video. After a few minutes of showing the Integral's front panel being driven by my external CVs, I switch to showing more detail on my mods and the patch that runs it. This patch also gave me a chance to explore my TipTop Matrix Sequencer, where you dial in 16 pitches from which you can extract 10 sequences that traverse the note matrix in different ways. I crossfade periodically between these 10 lines driving different tone sources (reversing them occasionally to give a bit of variety) - this provides a dynamic and harmonically-rich base upon which to run the Convolver, which produces all of the effects that you hear.

My mods let me turn essentially all of the knobs with external voltages (I also have a gate input for the 'shift' button so I can get at the secondary functions of these knobs too), and indeed, I do that here. All of the knobs are being turned constantly by different LFOs. This pedal sports two convolvers - the panel's knobs affect the one that's displayed, but also I provide a periodic pulse to the 'select' knob (which I gated in the pedal so it doesn't hit when 'shift' is active to avoid going into a menu), which toggles control to the other convolver. So this patch, simple as it is, spans a lot of sonic space...

The Integral is a wonderful box - it sports two convolver chains, and you can select from circa 100 different impulse responses (plus add your own via a USB stick). Convolution is a general operation that spans across reverb, echo, filtering, etc. - you essentially inherit the character of the chosen impulse in the driving waveform. It's not a real-time operation in principle (the convolution integral for each sample goes across the entire impulse) although there are ways of speeding and breaking the operation up to approach real time (plus this pedal allows you to window the integration over the stored impulse). It's a very deep pedal - and in using it, I saw right away how turning several of the knobs at once can get you to interesting modulations and textures while they are moving (the expression input gives access to only one parameter - I use it now for the convolution cross-fade, as I couldn't get to that input with my mods). TastyChips used to make a Eurorack module giving some of this flexibility, but it only included one convolver. The Integral pedal has 2 and is a current product, hence reinforcing my decision to acquire one and essentially 'turn' it into a versatile synth module.

My sequences here are a bit major-key/unsophisticated (all notes have to work potentially on top of each other and in whatever sequence it picks), and the pedal occasionally gets briefly into strange territory - hence this demo only hints at where this beast can go (every impulse response has a different character too). And turning all of the knobs can occasionally push it into instability - I will probably use fewer when I take it out for a real spin. More coming with this one in future patches, but in the interim, here's this trial demo..."
