"Akai's MPC Sample is a portable chopping machine that is ready to go whenever a moment of inspiration strikes or as your lightweight companion through a day of slow-moving errands. Styled after their beloved MPC60, this beige beauty gives nostalgia and function in a battery-powered package. To ensure the size and ease-of-use remains paramount, the MPC Sample has a stripped down OS and micro pads but don't let the size fool you: this is an MPC through-and-through.

Whether using the built-in microphone, the stereo 1/4" jacks, or USB audio, you get quick access to the Sample Record section that is as easy as pressing a pad. A few quick trims using the multifunction knobs or using the shift and main encoder in combination will have you chopping and trimming in no time. Once you have your samples loaded, chopped, and assigned, recording a sequence is just as easy: just set the mode to Seq, adjust settings to taste, press the pad you want to record to, and you've got a loop. Resample that loop for further processing, use the step edit mode to make micro adjustments, and precompose a few sequences to switch between for full track performances.

The MPC Sample lets you engage effects in two different ways: the Knob FX and Pad FX. As their names portend, the Knob FX gives you access to a gang of effects including delays and reverbs, amp simulations, modulation effects, and vintage emulators. These effects are controlled with the three multifunction knobs for excellent playability. The Pad FX, on the other hand, are 16 always available effects that get triggered momentarily by the pads and are expressed via velocity. This is where you can get a stutter effect, several coloration effects, a half-speed effect, and other performable, musical delights. A fantastic choice for newcomers and veterans alike, the MPC Sample from Akai is a powerful tool for studio or stage that complements just about any other piece of equipment in your audio arsenal.

Arturia Polybrute12 - emotional & downplayed patches - no rock n roll or acid house, but lot of love

video upload by copenhagennoiselab

"Seven and a half minuter of me going through a few of my latest patches on the Arturia PolyBrute 12. I have been trying to get into it, by making a few patches every evening, while the family watches tv. And it is weird, I always start with the init patch, which is like the least inspiring init patch I have ever heard. It is just dead. I should really make a new init patch, as I spend a few minutes menu-diving, switching to the same settings every time...

I have a weird relationship with this synth - I don't enjoy working with it very much, but whenever I record it, it just shines in its own grungy way, lofi and vintage way. It just have this wonderful downplayed vintage character (likely because I felt like climbing mountains to get it to sing the way I like it.

Anyway... No talking. Just patches.

The main theme right now seems to be semi-haunting keyboard sounds. It is likely a result of me spending as much time as possible at the moment with DSP development and plugin creation - no time playing the piano. So it is kind of trying to get the same feeling I get when I play piano by myself, but in patches.

No external effects or processing - recorded straight to a Zoom H6 field recorder - so it won't get more true than this.

If you’re here for clean, polite polysynth vibes, this is not that. It never is with me. This is just about feeling, hearts breaking in empty wastelands."

FREE SYNTH: ENSONIQ SD-1 Emulator (by Sojus Records) - No talking demo

video upload by ADL-MusicLab

"Hello everyone!

Here's to you my 'No talking demo' of this FREE emulation of the Ensoniq SD-1 developed by Sojus Records, which brings back to life this iconic synthesizers!

This VST3 plugin is a faithful, hardware-level emulation of one of the most unique digital synthesizers of the early ’90s.

Originally released in 1990, the Ensoniq SD-1 comes from a lineage of evolving Transwave wavetable synthesizers, following the ESQ-1, SQ-80, and VFX series. It combines additive-style waveform layering with powerful modulation, placing it alongside classics like the PPG Wave and Waldorf Microwave in the world of hybrid digital synthesis.

This "MAME-based" VST3 plugin brings the SD-1/32 to life inside your DAW for the first time. Despite being a proof-of-concept, it is already fully functional and incredibly deep.

The demo showcases some of the presets created directly from the engine – from lush pads and evolving textures to digital timbres and analog-style patches. Each patch can layer up to 6 waveforms from the original ROM, shaped by dual multi-mode filters, complex envelopes, LFOs, and an extensive modulation matrix. The built-in effects processor adds classic reverb, chorus, flanging, and delay.

Key features of the plugin include:
• Full VST3 support (Windows & macOS, Intel + ARM)
• Complete MIDI implementation including polyphonic aftertouch
• Full VST automation (all controls)
• Import of original VFX / VFX-SD / SD-1 SysEx files
• Resizable GUI with multiple panel layouts
• Support for original disk images and cartridges
• Optional multi-output routing (main + aux)
• Built-in sequencer support (with original OS disk)
• And much more...

⚠️ Important: This plugin requires original Ensoniq SD-1 ROM files (not included for copyright reasons). Please check the documentation for setup instructions.

⚠️ Note: Due to the nature of the emulation, CPU usage can be high and only one instance can run per DAW session.

More info here:

GitHub page:

This project is an exciting step toward preserving and reimagining classic digital synthesizers in modern workflows. If you’re into vintage gear, wavetable synthesis, or rare digital textures, this is definitely worth exploring.

PM Foundations Variable Filter Bank no. 4

video upload by Randy Piscione

"Here's another demo of the PM Foundations Variable Filter Bank. This time, there's no talking, just knob turning and sound. I wanted to see what sort of vowel sounds I could get. I'm using one bank, one EG for modulating the filter, one EG for the amplitude, and a bit of the unfiltered signal mixed in. When my hand disappears, it's fooling with the filter EG."

Lyra 8 // Elmyra II // Eurorack FX // Cocoquantus // No talking

video upload by Lesjamusic

"I've been working on some of the ambient sounds for Eric Whitacre's new piece, and set up this little Euro FX rack, together with recording some Elmyra. Eric himself is a master Lyra player, and I wanted to try out a little drone piece pairing these two together. Coco because Coco. Little break in the middle to retune the Lyra (natch)"

Deep Focus — 1 Hour Analog Synth Session (No Talking)

video upload by Caught In Joy

"Sometimes the best ideas appear when the mind slows down and distractions fade away.

This one-hour analog synth session was recorded live in the studio using hardware synthesizers and slowly evolving sequences — a quiet space for thinking, working, reading, or simply drifting for a while.

Inspired by the spirit of classic analog pioneers like Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, and Jean-Michel Jarre — composed live in one take using hardware synthesizers, no timeline, just performance.

Let the sound move gently in the background while thoughts begin to organize themselves.

Best used for:
• deep focus
• coding or writing
• studying
• late night thinking
• quiet creative work

Xenodrive and DB-01 twins (no talk)

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Why does the Xenodrive not want to let me go? I've had all sorts of good intentions for other content and other devices, stuff that I'm really impatient to show, yet here are we are with the Xenodrive again. I suspect it's down to two things: First that I've cycled through loads of dirt pedals and effects and rarely found one that has more than a single good sound. The Darkglass B3K for example has a brilliant effect on synths, but despite having four knobs and two buttons, it only has one sound. The Xeno has loads of flavors to explore. Second reason I am fixated on this device is that it's finally given me the 'punk synth' sound I've always wanted. Which is largely what we have in this video.

I originally had a big blabfest at the start of this video talking about the Xenodrive in detail but on sudden impulse I cut it all out. I think I was mesmerized by the Xeno and it was giving me instructions. I must exert my free will while I can. If my next video features the Xeno, send help.

Routing here is the MIDI out from the master DB-01 (left) to the rightside DB-01. The master DB-01 has an 8-step random-generated pattern, the leftside DB-01 is empty. Audio goes from each DB-01 to the Xeno left and right. As usual there is absolutely no other processing.

Many thanks to my kind patrons who keep this channel ad-free" My website: https://richarddehove.com/"

"Moog has defined the synthesizer bass sound for decades. From all Moog mono synths the Messenger provides the widest sound spectrum and in particular, can add interesting variants to the classical bass theme. Here I go through the 4 different filter modes to show the power and flexibility of this synth.

FREE SYNTH: OB-Xf (Oberheim OB-X Emulation) - No talking demo

video upload by ADL-MusicLab

"Hi, everyone!

OB-Xf is a continuation and modernization of the last open source version of OB-Xd by 2DaT and later discoDSP, bringing together several efforts going on in the audio space and combining them inside the Surge Synth Team infrastructure.

It is an amazing freely downloadable virtual synthesizer inspired by the venerable Oberheim OB-X.

The original Oberheim OB-X is one of the best analog poly-synths ever, used by Rush, Van Halen, Queen, Japan, Eurythmics, Ultravox, Tangerine Dream and many others.

It is a classic synthesizer with a timeless sound that continues to captivate musicians and producers alike. With its rich, full-bodied tones and expansive sound design capabilities, the OB-Xf is the perfect choice for those looking to add a vintage touch to their music.

The OB-Xf is a synthesizer that has been designed to recreate the sound and behavior of the Oberheim OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8. However, the architecture of the original instruments was limited in some ways, so the OB-Xf includes a number of additional or altered features. Overall, the OB-Xf has been designed to produce a sound that is as good and as rich as the original OB-X.

Also, like many synths of the OB-X's generation, the OB-Xf has no internal effects so its sounds and textures can be greatly enhanced by the use of additional processing like chorus, reverb, delay, etc.

In this demo I will just let you hear what some amazing sound designers have made for this stunning synth simply by scrolling and playing some beautiful presets.

No additional effects or outboard processing here. What you listen is what you get!
