neil's webbly world - Voltage Controlled Dual Sine Very Low Frequency Oscillator

via Neil Johnson on the SDIY list: "I've just finished characterizing my latest module - a dual sine VCLFO based on an SSM2164. One VCLFO produces three sinewave outputs, 120 degrees apart, over a range of around 100Hz down to 12 minutes, and a second auxiliary VCLFO with a diode-shaped single sine output from 300Hz down to around 7 minutes.

By changing the capacitors this could also comfortably work in the audio range, but there is no temp.compensation so I wouldn't recommend it for stable VCO usage. Alternatively, a couple of component changes and this will go down to an hour or more per cycle."

You can find samples and more modules at Neil's Webbly World.
PCBs are available.

Specs on the Voltage Controlled Dual Sine Very Low Frequency Oscillator
" * Main oscillator
o 3 high-purity sine waves

* Auxiliary oscillator
o Single sinewave output (diode-shaped triangle) - triangle available via component substitution.
o 7 minutes per cycle up to 300Hz

* 100k input impedance
* short-circuit protected output buffers
* output levels ±5V

* operates from regulated ±15V supplies through 0.156" (3.96mm) 4-pin header (compatible with MOTM, Oakley)
* signal pads suitable for HE14 industrial connectors, dual-row 0.1" headers, or direct wire connection

* high quality fibreglass PCB, through-hole plated, soldermask, silkscreen legend, with full ground plane

USB reader for SNES game carts

"NOTE: Before you ask about writing pirated (or other, but most likely pirated) ROMs to cartridges, please read the FAQ:
http://www.snega2usb.com/wordpress/FAQ

More info on this little website:
http://www.snega2usb.com

To the best of my knowledge, this is the world's first USB interface for Super Nintendo / Super Famicom games.

Note: This is one of the few LEGAL ways of playing a commercial SNES game on an emulator. Just because you own a game cart doesn't mean you are allowed to download the corresponding ROM somewhere."

snega2usb Demo #2: Genesis cartridge and SNES savestates

"This is a video showcasing some of the new features: support for Sega Genesis games and SNES savestates.

You will find that I am having trouble getting two of the games to run (Zelda and Yoshi's Island). These cartridges are in really bad shape; they wouldn't even boot on the console. As always, wearing off the oxide/gunk layer by repeated re-insertion helps. The final version of the snega2usb will come with proper connectors that are made especially for video games.

Circuit Bent Casio SA-5 Keyboard - HD

YouTube via carpeteria
"It's not much to look at, but this thing can crank out some serious glitches (and crashes as well). Since it's not incredibly stable, here is a short montage of some interesting sounds (between crashes) that the SA-5 can produce. The pot on the far right is an overload/distortion dial, with corresponding blue LED (the better to blind you with). Enjoy!"

Sequential Prophet 5 Rev 3.2 / 3.3 Full midi

via this auction

"Rev 3.2 Prophet 5 with full midi installed (including rare velocity sensitive functionality not found on all midi prophet 5's )Now i should make it clear that the difference between this and a rev 3.3 is 80 memory locations But i should also state that this can be upgraded to 3.3 rev status very easily by replacement of a chip in the prophet 5 which mosy synth techs can do ( its outlined how to upgrade a 3.2 to 3.3 in service manuals ) and also that the 3.2 and 3.3 are identical in every other way .A 3.2 is a 3.3 without the larger memory chip...

Ok so now the sound , i dont need to talk it up , these things sound legendary , fat , warm , creamy , resonant , all words used a million times to describe analogue circuits but seriously if you havent heard a real prophet 5 then it is a bit of a heartmelting experience , every range of sounds it does its stunning , the low end is smooth and the highs crystal clear and when you dial in the unison mode it can blow your speakers apart if your not carefull , its resonant filter and the osc sync combined make the most incredible metalic harmonics which sing , they dont 'resonate ' they sing and this is one of the most subtle and beautifull synths you can buy.Its range of sounds is wide, the prophet 5 was used for many star wars fx and Pads and the ambient spaces in the film , its a blinding machine for ambient work but equally good for mean dance music , it can be off the wall or do all those classic 80's sounds.Yellow magic orchestra and Peter gabriel , Japan , you name them , they used one and dialing through the presets gives an instant ' so thats where they got ' that' sound ' experience..."

Polymoog 3-Band Resonator for Sale/Auction

via Elhardt on the Moog Forum
"I've been going back and forth as to whether I want to sell this thing because even though that was my original intention, the end result is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, stand-alone unit, that I put quite a bit of work into extricating from my Polymoog and getting it built. It's essentially a 3 Band Variable Formant Filter for all kinds of tonal modifications, similar to the Polyfusion module that somebody just put up on ebay, but the Polymoog Resonator can also switch the filters into lowpass and hipass modes in addition to bandpass, and it covers a greater range of frequencies. See links for Polyfusion comparison:

[http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2009/08/rare-polyfusion-modular-moog-format.html - note the original link went to the Polyfusion formant filter auction, but that will expire in time so I added the post link]
http://www.flickr.com/photos/matrixsynth/30931197/

I was originally going to put it up at $550 + shipping (Paypal preferred, I'm located in Cary, NC and can also be picked up for cash), but the only way to give more people a shot at buying it, since there's only one of these on the planet, is to allow them to bid on it if they want to pay more than that amount. So it goes up here at the initial bid of $550. If somebody offers that amount and nobody else bids, it's yours. I'll give it about a week (bid increments of a minimum of $10). For anybody not a member of the Moog Forum, you can email me with a bid and I can post that to the thread. If it doesn't sell, it will probably go on ebay, or maybe I'll end up keeping it for a while. A bunch of pictures are at the link below, and it includes everything you see in the 3rd photo down (Resonator, Power Supply, and a couple of 1/4" cables).

http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/search?q=polymoogerfooger [Note this is a search on polymoogerfooger which will bring up this post as well. The prior two posts are here and here].

I can be contacted at my last name, which is my Moog Forum user name, same as my last name, followed by @att.net (just to avoid those internet scanning spambots) for those not registered on the Moog Forum who might have questions or want to bid.

-Ken Elhardt"
