Hans Zimmer on Moog

via Hans Zimmer on Facebook
posted on May 23

"I got my first Moog 30 years ago. And here I am, still using the real thing on 'The Dark Knight Rises'. The bass pinning you to your seat in the movie is all thanks to Dr. Bob Moog's brilliant design.

Happy Birthday Dr. Bob!"

"Join me while I go over some of the instruments iVardensphere uses in the studio. Of course just having Scott talk to the camera would be boring and we certainly don't want that so we asked some friends to help complete the vision.

Featured instruments in this video are:
Sherman 2 Filterbank
Schippmann Ebbe und Flut Filter
XOXIO
APC-40
Moog Little Phatty
Elektron Machinedrum
Elektron Octatrack
Serge Modular
Djembe Hand Drum

Homebrew step sequencer, "Stepper Acid"

via Zoƫ

"My partner (Nina, who took this picture last year: http://m.matrixsynth.com/2011/12/idow-matrixsynth-modular-pic-of-week_26.html ) and myself have started work on building an acidline step sequencer together. It's in the early prototype stages at the moment, so there's no interface, just a preset pattern, but it's already starting to sound pretty good hooked up to our Doepfer! The project is open source, for both hardware and software, so anybody can see how it works and cannibalise it into their own open source projects.

Brian Kehew Talks Synths at AES Studio City LA

via Brian Kehew on Facebook

"Hey music friends - I'm giving a talk on (cool, old) synthesizer instruments at the Audio Engineering Society meeting this TUESDAY night 8.00pm at Sportsmens Lodge,
12833 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604. It won't be technical, and I have tons of old photos and catalogs from a collection I've hidden-away all these years. It will be fun, informative and, hopefully, inspiring!"

micromac PCB layout

"This is a look at two screenshots of the PCB layout for the micromac boards. The lower section of each board is the micromac 3U module layout- the additional top parts are the analogue LFOs, MIDI etc for the desktop version! It was a well busy weekend- I now have both sets of boards ready to drill! 1 more functionality tset to do over today!..."

DrumDokta DRM-110

via this auction

"Din Sync "DrumDokta" DRM-110 drum machine module for Eurorack modular synthesizers. It is a clone of the vintage Roland DR-110 drum machine. The DR-110 was always thought of as the cheap gritty version of a TR-808. This module adds several new and exciting features to the usually limited Roland DR-110. An absolute beast of a drum module for Eurorack, and only about half the size of an actual DR-110!"
