"Often you see a finished patch running on Youtube so here is an unrehearsed patch just to demonstrate some options and ideas for on-the-fly patching. Wtih a Synthesizers.com Box 22 portable I come up with a dark little sequence illustrating manipulation sources and how some modules can work together.

"I've done a small modification by unsoldering the bender wire to one of the VCO's so when the VCO's are synced together and the bender used it results in screaming harmonic distortion as the slave VCO attempts to follow the bent VCO. This could be resoldered if not desired or maybe brought out to a switch on the rear panel. Specs are 2 VCOs, 2 VCFs (1 switchable LP/BP/HP and 1 BP), 1 VCA, 1 AR Env and 1 ADSR Env, 2 LFOs, Ring Modulator, Sample and Hold, Noise Gen (white and pink), 5 input mixer (Noise, VCO1, VCO2, Ring Modulator and EXT) and countless switching possibilities (most switches are 4 position slide switches)"

"After the 2016 Winter NAMM Show I stayed a couple extra days down in southern California to visit with my friends Chuck Oken Jr., Nik Muso and crew at their beautiful synth store Noisebug in Pomona CA. http://www.noisebug.net/

We had originally planned since the previous NAMM Show for me to stay a couple extra days and get in a nice long jam or two since Chuck and Nik are both fine musicians. But a week before I left home the idea popped into my head that we could have a gathering at the store for an impromptu Q & A mini seminar so people who couldn't make it to NAMM could learn about the newest gear and talk about modular synths in general. It quickly turned into just me talking about synths and whatever came to mind.

Chuck recorded the audio out of the mixer but there were no mics so none of the discussion recorded. Assembled here are some of the better bits of the recording and several still shots from the event including the crazy event flyer image Chuck and I created. ;-) I took most of the photos except for the one Nik took @ 14:00 and the one A.DAPT took @ 27:00 (thanks guys! :-)

"This product demo shows some sound editing on the Sequential Prophet VS using the Stereoping Synth Controller which is a specialized midi hardware programmer available in many editions for Matrix 1000, Microwave, TX81Z and many more.

This edition of the controller is named 'ProVessorS' and does not cover ALL parameters of the Prophet VS but makes programming MUCH easier and funny - especially for VCA/VCF envelope rates and levels. The 4 Oscillator's Wave numbers, coarse and fine tunings are
also in direct access.

This 10-minutes-video has 7 quick chapters: Starting point is the main concept of the UI. 2. shaping the init-patch of the VS into a nice sound while being sequenced. 3. & 4. show realtime tweaking of vector envelope rates and LFOs. Chapter 5 shows how quick and easy patch name editing works with the 'letter dial mode'. In 6 you'll see remoting and automating the Prophet VS through ordinary Controller-Change messages in Fruity Loops and Ableton. The last chapter 7 demoes Detuning and Unison. Be sure not to miss this very strange but extremely cool sound the Prophet VS accidently makes when changing a wavenumber in Unison - shown from 8:57 on.

The video was recorded using 2 cameras, one showing the controller while being used, the other cam with focus on the Prophet VS display reflecting the realtime changes. In case you're wondering - the display of the VS is not the original. The faceplate of the controller in the video is an early paper printout, the final one is black not blue.
