EWI Improv: Testing New Setup with Parat+
Published on Feb 3, 2017 Marc S. Langelier
"Parat+ is really great to work with and is really helping to bring my set-up together. I spent some time today just getting the 2 iPads and the laptop communicating with each other & Parat+, and then starting to expand on my Parat+ presets to control everything.
Currently on my iPad4 I am running Parat+ along with Apollo MIDI over Bluetooth to connect to the iPad Air2, as well as connecting to the Laptop simultaneously via rtpMIDI.
I'm also running Apollo on the iPad Air2 for Parat+ to control iOS synths. etc., from the iPad4 as well as using MusicIO to send audio & MIDI from the iPad Air2 (via USB) to the DAW in the Laptop.
For live performance the Laptop is running rtp MIDI (iPad4) along with the MusicIO plug-in inside of AudioMulch to receive audio & MIDI (iPad Air2 - I'll try this with FreeStyle and Usine too).
I was using Animoog along with Alchemy & ABSynth today and had a simple ambient drone going (sorry, I'll be moving away from the drones soon, but they're very convenient for testing a setup). I was triggering Alchemy via Animoog's keypads. Then modulating X&Y path origins in Animoog via one pair of Parat+ faders and with another pair of Parat+ faders modulating Alchemy's MorphPad X&Y. ABSynth was my EWI sound Source. Pretty simple, but now that's it's working, I can start getting a lot more sophisticated with it.
I put this video up as a work in progress for my setup. I'll be replacing it soon with a more interesting version the utilizes a lot more of the possibilities..."

"Introductory Offer: 48% reduction until 4th February!
Parat+ is an Open Sound Control (OSC) and MIDI controller app allowing intuitive and sophisticated control of networked sound and visual computer software and hardware devices. Parat+ has powerful gestural touch screen controls and multitouch gestures available in the most efficient and intuitive ways possible. Developed by practitioners for practitioners, Parat+ is a tool for the musician, artist and technician using technology to advance their art.Much more than a virtual ‘fader box’, it allows you to record, remap and set controls instantly and intuitively. Swipe and multitouch gestures record, loop and remap the interval of each fader and responsivity curve. Rescale, enlarge, pause and interrupt to modify your controls in realtime. Control sound levels, effects parameters, synthesis, lights and more via OSC and MIDI simultaneously.
Parat+ combines powerful software and hardware parameter control with data automation and manipulation. It is fully compatible with OSC enabled software such as:
• Max
• PD
• Processing
• Digital Performer
• Reaper
• Reaktor
• Ardour and more.
All other software and hardware including DMX for lighting rigs can be controlled via MIDI.
The fader-style controller modules at the core of Parat+ can control parameters and functions of any MIDI and/or OSC enabled software and hardware. Multiple OSC targets can be defined to optimise user flexibility.
The Faders offer unparalleled realtime control via the multitouch three point control feature which allows the user to remap the interval and responsivity curve of each fader in realtime.
The touch gesture features include:
• One finger gestures to control the fader value.
• Two finger gestures to adjust the fader's minimum and maximum values.
• Three finger gestures to adjust the minimum, maximum and responsivity curve.
Use absolute touch mode to have the Fader value jump to whichever finger position is applied and relative touch mode to avoid any sudden jumps due to changes in finger position, allowing for seamless transitions in volume etc..
Each Fader can also be remotely controlled and automated by the Gesture Recorder, internal LFO generators, audio analysis and sensors, external OSC sources and MIDI controllers.
Use Parat+ as a central control hub for any performance and production setup, and shape OSC data streams sent to Parat+ to control your software and hardware parameters. Incoming OSC data (e.g. data from sensors, analysis modules and generative algorithms) can be modified and modulated using the the scaling and modulation features of Parat+ Sources and Faders.
Gesture recording and playback allows looped and one-shot automations of unlimited length.
The simplicity and coherence of the tools enable any novice to venture into custom built controls, while the accustomed performance system developer will appreciate the time saved for complex setups.
The philosophy behind Parat+ is to extend and assist your practice without imposing an approach. The app has been designed with the knowledge that creative work requires tools that can grow with their users, allowing individual and intuitive creative application while maintaining flexibility and diversity. Artists who are familiar with programming will appreciate the intuitive approach to data handling and parameter mapping. Users who lack experience with sophisticated technology will find themselves empowered to embrace cutting-edge interactive technology in the most intuitive and approachable manner. By keeping technical concerns to a minimum, the user is free to make artistic and aesthetic choices guided by their own creativity, avoiding the constraints of conventional software and controllers."

Dreadbox Nyx & Erebus sequenced by patchblocks
Published on Feb 6, 2017 dænkrø_ ElectriXity_
"First session with my favorite two DREADBOX' NYX and EREBUS.
The NYX provides some creamy 70s vintage style Leads. The Erebus is triggered by a patchblocks sequencer/arp patch which I redesigned to work with the KB-1 block.
Together they walk along the snowy road to Berlin School style. I had my fun that's for sure.
Hope you'll like it, too!!!
Share and enjoy!!"
Dog in the woods

"I shot this video with the little campark 4K UHD extreme camera (ACT73R) with 60 frames/second 1080p. The footage has been edited in Final cut Pro. In most cases I added some coloring with the sepia filter plugin. Sounds are mainly from the Radikal Technologies Accelerator, RT-311 swarm oscillator, RT-451 multimode filter and the strymon timeline. The track has been published last year in summer for the first time and had a different name in the beginning. It was called "homage to the strymon timeline delay". In this video I did some doggy overdubs and added some complex pad work at the very end. BTW.: For the close to ground and tree detail footage I used a simple selfie stick ;-)"

Korg ARP Odyssey Bagpipe (ish) Patch
Published on Aug 15, 2016 Doug Plate
"Goofing around with the Korg ARP Odyssey, stumbled on this bagpipe-like patch, so added the marching drums to finish the effect. Some chorus/reverb is added, but don't remember if that was from the Behringer mixer or the Alesis Nanoverb. The drum pattern is from a Yamaha PSR-530."
