Lavender (Hugo Paris) is an electronic musician and sound artist based in Portland, United States. His forward-thinking and ethereal pieces echo the work of artists like Four Tet, Tim Hecker and Alessandro Cortini while his dance tracks have the dancefloor-driving energy known to disco legend Patrick Cowley and early Depeche Mode’s new wave.

Lavender’s first album Mystique Youth came out August 2015 on Jacktone Records and made it into SF Weekly ’s top 15 Bay Area albums of the year. Lavender's follow up album Horizons Beneath the Surface, abbreviated HBTS, came out May 9th 2016 on Jacktone Records. HBTS was supported by multiple tours along the US west Coast and Europe throughout 2016/17. The album received stellar reviews from XLR8R, That’s Deck, aQuarius recOrds and SF Weekly. HBTS made it into KALX Radio's Best Albums of 2016 list.

While Lavender’s studio work embodies the aesthetics of minimalism and the cinematic landscapes of post rock, his intricate audio-visual performances can range from voluptuous soundscapes to dance-floor bangers with Italo Disco overtones. Lavender’s latest scoring work can be heard on full-length movie The Modern Jungle (La Selva Negra), which received multiple nominations including the honorable mention from Slamdance Film Festival.

"Carrying on with a further batch of 25 patches, this time with a couple of requests. The first patch 'Evolver' is interesting in that I was asked to create a Pad Sound using just 1 Oscillator and ONLY a Sine Wave...Luckilly the Prophet 12 has enough tools to generate extra harmonics and be able to manipulate them."

Hi everyone, I am continuing my work on showing the combinations of my synths and my effect pedals just for fun and for you guys to get an idea on how they pair together and what you can do with them. I hope you like it :)

This time it is a long video, sorry for the blackouts in the middle of it, my camera just won't keep recording for more than a few minutes straight for some reason unknown to me!

Also, I haven't tweaked the El Capistan that much in that video, haha... I should have but I ended up only tweaking the synths because I get too much into them, just wanna play! Tell me if you want to see/hear something different than that. I am kinda lazy do do scripts for my videos but if you request it, I will do it.


Oh, the El Cap is full wet but I am setting it up as an Aux send on my DAW (BeatMaker3 on iPad), if you find it weird that the mix is all the way up to 100% on the pedal."
