"This is also the version with leather sides."
Update: according to the creator of the Modulus 002, Paula Maddox, this is one of the first 50. "Firstly the shine, the first were a gloss finish, the others more satin.
There's also a spelling mistake ;)"

Akai VX600 Synthesizer | Well, you found me
Published on Mar 21, 2019 Alex Ball
"This was an interesting one. I’d never heard of the Akai VX600 until a couple of weeks ago, so I came into it with absolutely no preconceptions.
When I saw it, I assumed it was a sampler. It’s actually a synth and surprisingly, given it only has 37-keys, it’s a six-voice poly synth. Perhaps most unexpected is the fact that it’s analogue.
So with the surprises out of the way, I fired it up and discovered you have to run a computer controlled calibration and let it warm up. It’s actually quite reminiscent of the Oberheim Xpander in terms of workflow and quirks.
You have two oscillators per voice with various combinable waveshapes, three envelopes, two filters, two LFOs per voice. It’s velocity sensitive and has aftertouch and midi. It’s also multitimbral and you can load different sounds for each voice (as you can on the Xpander).
There’s even a multi-pin connection to get all the voices separately and a whole setup dedicated for use with a wind controller. It’s quite an oddball!
I actually wrote three pieces of music on it before I found a direction that had some cohesion. I started with a warped magical thing, then did something dystopian and finally landed with the track heard in the video. I hope you like it and that it gives off the character of the synth.
Instruments:
Akai VX600 (1988)
Roland JX-3P + PG200 (1983)
Boss CE-2 and DM-2 pedals
Roland TR-77 (1972)
I sampled and made custom rhythms as it’s a preset machine
Fairlight CMI II drum samples
Abbey Road 80s Drummer
Fairlight Vocal Samples layered with my voice through a Voice Spectra Vocoder
String section – Spitfire Audio and LA Scoring Strings
End vocals recorded with an AKG C414s"

MØFFENMIX QUAD DISTØRTIØN MIXER DEMØ

"Møffenmix is a føur channel audiø mixer with søme extra sauce. Each øf the føur channels has independent gain with a three pøsitiøn switch tø determine max gain range (løw, medium, high). Løw gain will make each channel unity gain at minimum and 2x gain at max. Medium gain will bøøst each channel x5 which can either be used as a line level audiø tø mødular signal bøøst ør a mild distørtiøn. Finally, high gain is a x100 gain circuit meant tø cømpletely bløw øut the signal and be used as an øbnøxiøus øverdrive. There are nø clipping diødes in the signal path sø yøu can make things really scream at full gain! After the gain stages, each channel has its øwn mute switch and vølume knøb. The Link input is a unity gain input intø the master øutput. This input can be used tø daisy chain multiple møffenmix ør øther mixer mødules tøgether. It can alsø be used as an additiønal channel input. Gøne are the days øf quiet-as-a-møuse hats, shrimpy snares, and snøøze inducing kicks. CRANKKKK YERRRR MIXXXX Tøøøø THHAAA MAXXXXX!!!!!!!!
NØTE: this mixer has bleed at søme settings due tø the nature øf wørking with super high gain, the high frequency cøntent øur mødules prøduce, and øverall shitty engineering practices. If yøu’re øffended by this type øf behaviør I recømmend purchasing sømeøne else’s mødule. This mødule was designed with the intentiøn øf bløwing øut drum tracks and slamming them intø a mønø øutput with løads øf character and charm."
Serge Tcherepnin - Waveshaper TV Ep. 9

Here's an interview with the one and only Serge synthesizer designer, Serge Tcherepnin! Interviews with Serge are few and far between - in fact we're only aware of one print interview, from the early '80s. As far as we know, this is the only filmed interview with Serge in existence. Serge was a friend and colleague of Morton Subotnick's; Mort is the one who hired Serge onto the staff at CalArts, where he developed his synthesizer system for students to build and use. We met Serge in Paris to film with Mort for our upcoming Subotnick documentary, and after much convincing, Serge finally agreed to also give us a solo interview for Waveshaper TV!"
This is a treat. The influence of Buchla and Moog are covered by Serge Tcherepnin.

SOMA DVINA (prototype)
Published on Jan 10, 2019 Vlad Kreimer
"This is the prototype of the first SOMA electro-acoustic instrument. It was inspired by Hindustani classical music but European music can be also played with it, of course.
In the video, besides DVINA I used a specially built pre-amp with a simple built-in one tap delay and a small 100$ guitar cube.
If enough people are interested in buying the DVINA we can start production. If you are interested please drop me an email at omhohom@gmail.com
