Shibasaki MOD - Tokyo set song #8 - K.K. Cruisin' Synthchill Cover Animal Crossing

video upload by Arman Bohn

"My synths and device can be found here:
https://distropolisgoods.com/

Song #8 from my set at Shibasaki MOD in Tokyo, April, 2025.

I ended my set with a cover of the K.K. Slider song "K.K. Cruisin'" which is a family favorite. My first experience with K.K. was in Animal Crossing - New Leaf back when it was released for the Nintendo 3DS.

I didn't have a vocoder with me in Japan, so I just sang out into the room with no mic.

---------

The M8 is doing most of the heavy lifting here: bass, drums and sending MIDI notes to the Prismatic Spray MKii.

I'm using the Phantasmal Force (tiny white MIDI controller) to send chords to GREAT CONJUNCTION (purple box). Channel 1 of GREAT CONJUNCTION is in 'keys' mode, while the other two channels playback a some randomized sequences which cause some CONJUNCTIONS and offset modulation to the FM key sound.

The Prismatic Spray MKii comes in to mimic the 'vocals'. M8 is handling the note playback via MIDI and I'm just playing the A and B runes/knobs.

For this recording - I sang through a BOSS VE-500 to get that K.K. robo-dog sound.

It was a great way to end the set with a upbeat feel!"

8/24/25 Roland SBX-80 clocks a pair of Pasco Scientific 9301 + Yamaha EM-100 + Alesis MIDIVERB II

video upload by Cfpp0

"8/24/25 Roland SBX-80 clocks a pair of Pasco Scientific 9301 dual function generators + Yamaha EM-100 + Alesis MIDIVERB II

The Roland SBX-80 is set to 80 bpm, time base 1. The time base output is boosted by the right Pasco Scientific 9301 microphone preamplifier, then patched to the modulation inputs on both 9301s. The spring reverb is the internal tank from the Yamaha EM-100 mixing the two 9301s. A stereo reversed reverb from the Alesis MIDIVERB II creates the stereo echo."

Prophet-10, CP88 session | Receptor 2025-08-24 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created with Sequential Prophet-10, YAMAHA CP88, CLAVIA Nord Lead, and MOTIF-RACK ES. A session featuring delayed piano tones and synth sounds processed with spacious effects.

The Prophet-10 is connected to LOSSY, MOOD MKII, and blueSky — applying packet loss effects along with delay, pitch shifting, and reverb.

The CP88 is used to play electric piano sounds, with deep delay applied.

The backing track is provided by the Nord Lead and MOTIF-RACK ES, layering harmonies with synth pads. Reverb on the Nord Lead is processed through Specular Tempus."

Last Blue 💙 (Korg Electribe MX = EMX-1) #groovebox #onesynthonly

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"So I recorded only one pattern here with all the tracks being uses. I.E. 9 drum tracks and 5 synth tracks.

Quite a lot of the EMX1's parameters were internally sequenced (MOTION SEQ), especially the routing to the 3 effects (which you can clearly hear in the intro on the rimshot sound) and the cutoff of some of the synth tracks 😉

Throughout the track I muted and unmuted the different tracks, including unmuting all tracks at once by using SHIFT+SOLO, and even made a risky improvisation on the ribbon arpeggiator 😅

At the end of the track, I finally bring a modulation to take the jam one step further ✈️"
