From Rough Mix to Polished: Bus Rider + Channel Surfer for Techno

"How I use Bus Rider and Channel Surfer on a rolling techno patch. I start from a rough mix, zero out Bus Rider, and build the mastering chain step by step: limiter, multiband compression, crossovers, release for pumping, and saturation. Then I go through what each Channel Surfer is doing on the drone, vocal, and noise layers, including EQ, filtering, drive, delay, reverb, and kick-triggered sidechain ducking.

Bus Rider is a 4HP stereo end-of-chain mastering module with an isolator EQ, multiband compression, a lookahead limiter, and saturation. Channel Surfer is a 4HP stereo channel strip with a 3-band EQ, performance filters with drive, 9 effects, and a sidechain ducker. Both are $299, in stock and shipping now.

This system comes assembled and strung, but we encourage you to experiment with module order and alternate tunings.

Get started with the ADDAC System Four String Series bundle featuring the ADDAC120 Headstock & Bridge, ADDAC121 Humbucker, and ADDAC126 Rotary Exciter. With the ADDAC120 you get a 17HP headstock that can hold 4 strings (up to a .055 gauge) and a 6HP bridge module. These are designed to sit at opposite ends of a case and suspend over the other companion modules. Included is a bow arch attachment that affixes to the headstock and raises the middle 2 strings, allowing a bow to be easily used. A set of resonators that clip onto the strings is also included; these produce harmonics when placed at the appropriate segment of the string.

The ADDAC121 Humbucker is a classic guitar pickup for the ADDAC System Four String Series. With an interface similar to a guitar, you get Volume and Tone controls that allow you to adjust the sound with a fair bit of flexibility—the inclusion of a Low/High Gain switch allows for satisfying saturation at the flip of a switch. Create exciting string movements with the ADDAC126, a 7000 RPM brushless motor with four magnets attached to it and an adjustable speed that will excite all strings at the same time. Use the speed control to discover new harmonic overtones and patch in a CV signal to create organic ululations that titillate the senses.

Back with another 128 Patches for the fantastic Oberheim OB-X8. While Vol 1 covered some Classic Sounds, Vol 2 is more about Synthesis and leaning into new Shapes and Textures. I've since created my own Multi-FX Plugin (GEOSpace) which has EQ, Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Delay and Reverb and have created 128 Presets to go with all 128 OB-X8 Patches, just add as an Insert to your Host/DAW and select the same names. That's it.
