Metalsoundgenerator

YouTube via Redled72

In Googlish: "A future module for my self - analog synthesizer. The metal sound generator includes 4 oscillators rectangle, 1 noise generator, 1 VCF, 1 VCA, 1 simple envelope generator with trigger pulse amplifier on a board. There are different machines generate sounds. The VCA is double. About the 2nd channel of the VCA is white noise. For example, "Handclapping produced. The trigger pulse is generated through LFO."

ROLAND RS-505 Paraphonic Strings Synth

images via this auction

"The RS-505 Paraphonic Strings replaced the classic RS-202 and combined strings, a basic polysynth section and a bass section. The keyboard was shortened to 49 keys and is split down the middle to assign different sounds to the left and right sides of the keyboard.

The Synth section has four waveforms (selected by the large white buttons) and its own VCF with cutoff and resonance sliders, VCA ADSR sliders and LFO features. The Bass section has three preset bass sound types to choose via the big red buttons. It has its own VCA Attack and Release sliders and Vibrato controls. The String section has two String preset sounds - selectable via the big green buttons - and other features borrowed from the RS-202.

Sounds from the three tone sections can be blended for interesting results and the built-in Ensemble chorusing effect really warms, thickens and lushes up the sounds! The Paraphonic 505 also features an external audio input (mono) so you could run another synth through the quadruple-BBD Ensemble chorus. A new little performance control section to the left of the keyboard provides convenient volume, tune, glide and pitch bender controls. Similar to the ARP Omni, the Paraphonic 505 is considered one of Roland's finest string synths of its era."

Yusynth Octal Random Gates

via Yusynth

"When I designed this module, I had in mind to control a Moog 960 sequencer in a random fashion, but many other applications may be imagined. On the 960 sequencer, a single step can be selected directly by it's IN jack, that is, instead of having the step sequenced in the logical sequence order you may call every step in an arbitrary order provided that you address directly each step with the IN jacks. The Octal Random Gate provides eight GATE OUT signals that are randomly sequenced, that is, one out of eight output is active and this randomly change at every clock pluse. Therefore, at each clock pulse sent to the GATE IN a randomly selected output is set to the ON state while all the other outputs are set to the OFF state.
A toggle switch makes it possible to chose the gating mode between two modes: in the first mode the ON status of the selected output lasts until the next clock pulse; in the second mode, the ON status is gated by the clock pulse, that is it lasts as long as the clock pulse is at the ON status and returns to OFF as soon as the clock signal returns to OFF (see diagram bellow : output X selected during one clock cycle, output Y selected during two consecutive clock cycles; left GATE MODE OFF, right GATE MODE ON)."

Elektron Machinedrum UW Jam

YouTube via ivypeaks
"Just got my Machinedrum UW in the mail a couple of weeks ago and it's everything I hoped it would be. I haven't even scratched the surface of what this synth is capable of. In this short jam I pre-programmed a lot of parameter locks and a few different patterns, and I also experiment with respampling in the RAM machine (at the end). So this video is not so much intended to show you how to work the MD, but of some of the sounds/functions it's capable of. I intend to put up some more videos in the future... Enjoy! Sorry for the bad sound quality."

CaringBridge Journal Update for Bob Moog

via Bob Moog's CaringBridge Page:

"This year was the first since his illness that these grim events didn't completely overshadow the happy ones we normally celebrated on those days. We chose a bench for Bob's memorial, with GOOD VIBRATIONS inscribed on it. On his birthday this year, I went and sat on it and felt his presence. From your messages here, and the many contacts Michelle has had through the Bob Moog Foundation, I know how many of you continue to feel his presence through the instruments he made and you play. That is exactly the memorial he wanted, and I know that he is delighted that his creations continue to inspire musicians and give them pleasure. Michelle and I will go next week to visit his memorial bench, and we will be thinking of all of you, playing his living memorials, his instruments."

"This is a fully analog, 20 band vocoder. You can plug in a microphone, or any other sound source to be vocoded. You can even control the balance between the microphone input and the vocoded signal. Sort of like a wet/dry mix. You can also use the onboard noise source. Very versatile. You could also plug another synth into it, or even a guitar."

"A 3 unit rack, with an ADV Snare and an ADV Bass. I named the snare "SNIZZ" and the bass "SNOMP".

Snizz was from a magazine called "Shaved Snizz" that my friend Brain H and I always thought funny (we never read it) and "Snomp" is kinda from a Ventures song called the Twomp (It's not the Twist it's not the Stomp...)

SNIZZ! Great analog Snare - ish drum sounds. Great sweeps!

Two Hand Band - History of the MPC

"An MPC, or Music Production Center, was THE tool for hip hop artists in the studio in the 1980s. It fell out of fashion for a while, but now, it's back. The MPC has moved from the studio to the stage and all kinds of performers, from rockers to rappers to classicly trained musicians, are utilizing its beat making abilities. One MC will take us through the MPC transformation, as we see, hear and talk to different kind of musicians, and even non-musicians, who are making this technology the oldest newest trend in music making."
