"Russian based VCF filters with a really sour Rezonance Character. It is an External All In One unit that is self powered with a 12v AC wall adapter. It has an onboard LFO section and Pre Amp to amplify lower sound signals. This was intended for the Modualar Synthesizer People, but it can be used with Line level signals also. It can also handle a guitar/bass directly connected. It can easily Self Resonate."

As you will hear in this clip the results are quite different (a bit more subtle) the pedal is being pressed on and off to demonstrate the contrast between normal and modulated, many interesting results can occur.

You might remember Obscuresounds from this post. If you haven't checked these out, please do. Aside from the synth content, they are fascinating in that the samples used are from as early as the 60s. These aren't simple one shot samples but core pieces of the tracks. It's amazing how well they translate into more modern tracks.

Synth content:
"The Octave CAT took pride and place for the build-up moments at 0:43 and 2:00. The synths filters were just dirty enough to poke through the mix with all the drumming. A favourite trick of mine is placing synths through the Roland RE-501 tape echo - as I increased the LFO control on the pitch for the CAT, I would also increased feedback on the RE-501 before finally hitting the speed control right at the end of the track."

"Its capable of all the stock 303 acid sounds but can also do a lot more besides. With two oscillators, FM, 3 and 7 pole filters and this synthesizer is capable of creating an insane variety of sounds, its seriously deep. On top of that it also has an excellent built in sequencer with midi and cv in and out and realtime control. Its exactly the same as the now discontinued Mobius sequencer (minus V/Hz output) and is great for controlling older cv synthesizers. There were less than 700 of these made and this is one of first 30, hand built by the designer Jared Flickinger, and finished in purple. It has a more aggressive filter overdrive section that only appeared in the first few units and is Jared's personal favourite, sounds beautiful."

The Casio VL-Tone was produced in 1981 and this is the VL-1 first model. It is a electronic musical instrument that Casio developed combining the calculator with the LCD display and a keyboard with Synth.

The VL-1 features a LCD display capable of displaying 8 characters. It is primarily used for the calculator function, but also displays notes played. As well as this, it also has changeable tone and balance, basic tempo settings and a real-time monophonic music sequencer, which can play back up to 99 notes. There are also 10 preloaded rhythms, which included waltz, samba, swing, bossa nova, march, 4-beat, rock 1,rock 2, rhumba and beguine and one programmable sound, named ADSR."
