FOR KLAUS SCHULZE : DESERT WINDS (live Session)

video upload by KurtzMindfields

"I was wondering how to pay an ultimate homage to the great Klaus Schulze.
My greatest memory of this artist was from the beginning of his career his ability to go alone with his synths on stage and take us into his sonic, cosmic and fabulous universe.
So i plug my synths and recorded live this musical piece, for Klaus, with humility,, and start an improvisation in 3 parts around a sequence work under his influence.
Instruments : SynthR3 ARP 4012 & S.E.M : master stéréo sequencer (with TC M300 & SPX90 reverb/delay), Retro One NRSynth : Big Moog bass & Winds ( + Line 6 Chorus & DD2 Delay), Ancestor NRSynth (ARP 2600) : S&H rain (+ Midiverb reverb), Minimoog D (+ MXR Phaser & Delay), Waldorf Zarembourg : Phased Strings, Mister M Hansy : Mellotron Choir.
Recorded live at Nuage7 Studio, Domaine de Sourzy (06/05/2022)
Thanks to NRSynth (Stephen) & Rémy (SynthR).

"Amazing filter clone of the famous Roland SH-5 synthesizer! Bought a couple months ago from the G-Man along with some other stuff, everything he makes is excellent. I really like the sound and functions of this dual filter on its own, but I’m not sure it fits into my overall sounds and the overall tone of my half dozen other filters, so I’m listing it, but keeping his ARP 2600 filter clone!"

Donny Benét - Le Piano (Official Music Video)

video upload by Donny Benét

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

Roland TR-808 intro, followed by an ARP 2600. I'm guessing the 2600 is layered over a Yamaha CP70 mentioned below for the piano sounds? The 2600 does appear to come in for the synth solo at 3:04. The bass almost sounds synthetic. Soviet Space Child mentioned it sounds an awful lot like a MiniMoog. Whatever it is, it's fun stuff.

"It gives me great pleasure to present the first single Le Piano from my upcoming EP also titled Le Piano, coming out April 1 on Dot Dash records
After a crazy period of touring, being stuck at home for the past 2 years allowed life to slow down and gift me an extended period in my home studio.
After writing and releasing Mr Experience at the beginning of the coronavirus, I’d turned back to listening to a lot of instrumental music - Sakamoto, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Goblin, Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Yanni…to name a few.
I indulged myself and bought a vintage Yamaha CP70 electric grand piano, as well as finally setting up my studio to record live drums - something that’s been on my mind for quite some time. It seemed too soon to be writing a new album straight after Mr Experience (an album which I can’t wait to perform for you in 2022) so I spent most of the time in my little room experimenting, skilling up, and enjoying the musical process once again without the pressures of deadlines and touring.
This EP is a small taste of my world from this crazy moment in time - I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Steve Fisk's 1976 ARP 2600 with 3620 Keyboard SN 0732 ?

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

You can find a demo by Steve Fisk at the 2011 PNW SynthFest demoing his ARP 2600 posted here (see this post for additional videos of the event). P.S. If you aren't familiar with Steve Fisk, see this Wikipedia article. His Yamaha CS60 went up for sale back in 2013. According to this auction by Salamander Labs, his 2600 is up for sale. I have no way of verifying, so do your due diligence if you are interested. Note in the video linked above there is a green monkey sticker on the front panel. It's missing from this ARP 2600 but you can see a slight discoloration where it would have been. As always, who knows...

Details via the listing:

"Ok, this is it. An Arp 2600 with keyboard used extensively as a live and studio instrument by Steve Fisk, whose comments and the unit’s pedigree are below. This instrument has been used on the road internationally, in studio, and live performance settings, and as a result has some cosmetic scratches. The power supply caps, speaker amp driver transistors, key bushings, and a few key springs have been replaced…and the shittyist plug ever used for a keyboard has been replaced as noted below….otherwise it is original. It is fully discrete, and the circuit boards are NOT epoxied so it can be serviced. A full factory calibration was completed by Gemma at Sound Audio Repair in Olympia, Wa…"

"From Steve Fisk;

My 2600 is the first synth you see on the Arp 2600 Wikipedia page. I am the original owner. I bought the synthesizer in 1976. It was my primary instrument for years. I wrote and performed several noisy live pieces with the ARP. It was also my “jam” instrument for many improvs in Olympia and Seattle in the late 70’s. It was a key part of my live setup for Pell Mell, Pigeonhed, Customer Service, and Tiny Holes. It is also featured in much of my studio work with Pell Mell, Soundgarden, Pigeonhed, Reggie Watts, Unwound, Some Velvet Sidewalk and Seacats. The beast was my goto box for 808 kick drums(see Soundgarden’s “Spoonman” remix). It also did duty on several film soundtracks and corporate work. In 1995 the Jones plug that connected the keyboard to the main frame was replaced with a robust milspec connector by Omega Intl, a vintage synth service run by an ex roadie from the Moody Blues. It is in excellent working order despite some well earned cosmetic blemishes. I’m going to miss the spring reverb, a great resource for sound effects."

The ARP 2600M Experience

video upload by Red Means Recording

"The Korg Arp 2600M is a "mini" version of the extremely classic Arp 2600 analog synthesizer. In this video I multitrack it to create 4 experiences that show off how it can sound. All sounds besides drums and noise risers are from the Arp. Keep reading for what's going on in each "experience"!

00:00 synthwave experience

classic synthwave sounds. captured midi for each part in ableton and then recorded the audio while playing the panel controls. arp, bass, lead, noise lead, drums. used amp and cab simulation in ableton on some parts to give more space to the mix and add some grit.

03:03 ring mod experience
fed a youtube video playing terence mckenna directly into the arp's preamp, then piped that to the ring modulator. the pre-amp signal also creates an envelope via the envelope follower that is used to adjust the filter cutoff. played around with a pass of just noise and effects, then added a repeating melodic line and a bubbling abstract arpeggio underneath.

06:27 collapse experience
the modwheel of your midi controller plugged into the arp can be used as a cv modulator for anything in the synth. i used it to do pitch-bends of specific oscillators to specific intervals, giving me a cool sort of duophonic slide lead thing. wanted to make a track that sounded like black moth super rainbow, but one the acapella dropped in it felt more like tabasco. I'm not complaining.

09:57 euphoric experience
the arp can be used as a duophonic synthesizer, meaning you can play two separate notes at once through the same filter and vca section. if you tune the third oscillator to a pleasant interval, you can get nice chords. that and the arp are the basis of this track. the acid rain maestro provides complex modulation to the filter which i bring in and out."

ARP-2600, Moog Grandmother live cinematic Tangerine Dream inspired synthwave annotated performance

video upload by EthanJamesMusic

"I wanted to do a live synthwave performance with annotations that show what I'm thinking as I create these. Almost everything on my channel is an improvisation, so I'm thinking on both music theory and technical levels at all times. This starts with static arpeggios and utilizes modal shifting to create the chord progressions. I'm using a fairly simple setup of just the Moog Grandmother and the ARP-2600, so that the text can follow the music. The arpeggios are inspired by new Tangerine Dream electronic music. Since I'm a film composer by trade, this came out relatively cinematic and would work in certain movie score settings. I hope this is educational for you as well, in terms of how I put these performances together."

Dune Soundtrack The One Hans Zimmer Cover all analog synthesizers, Moog, ARP-2600, Soma Lyra-8, DFAM

video upload by EthanJamesMusic

"This is a synthwave cover of the soundtrack for The One by Hans Zimmer from the movie Dune. I wanted to see if it was possible to get somewhat close to the spirit of the music using only analog electronic synthesizers with guitar. I am using some Eurorack modular with a Buchla Easel Command and Soma Labs Lyra-8 to create the drone, while the Moog Grandmother is covering the low brass parts, and the ARP-2600 is covering the string (cello and bass) parts. I'm using the Moog DFAM to cover the low drum hits. Finally, I'm using the Sequential Circuits OB-6 to do the end high strings.

I hope you enjoy! This was a fun exercise in sound design and trying to get the spirit of the orchestra into an analog synth orchestra idea."

"If you enjoyed this, please consider supporting my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/ethanjamesmusic

Patch Notes:

Eurorack modular:
Instruo CS-L: using final outputs of both oscillators to a Make Noise Optomix to filter some of the high frequencies. The symmetry of both oscillators is being randomized by fluctuating voltage from a Frap Tools Sapèl.
Random Source Serge New Timbral Oscillator saw output to Serge Variable Frequency VCF. Low pass output to mixer. Filter frequency is being modulated by a Zlob modular Diode Chaos, while Q gain is being modulated by a Make Noise Wogglebug stepped output.
Make Noise Morphagene has a guitar loop playing D, and I'm using the knobs to make things change. Audio to an After Later Audio Monsoon (Clouds clone).
Make Noise Erbeverb in feedback mode to mixer.
All Eurorack audio to an Eventide H9 pedal doing reverb.

Soma Labs Lya-8 is in full drone mode with Hold turned all the way up. Most oscillators tuned close to a D with some variation. Audio is going to a Make Noise X-Pan modulated by an Intellijel Quadrax.

Buchla 208c Easel Command is providing more pulse-like ambience with random voltage changing the timbre very quickly. Audio to Make Noise X-Pan.

Moog Grandmother normalled patch with very slow attack and decay that is also assigned to the filter.

Moog DFAM using a very long decay with the two oscillators tuned a half step apart. Oscillator 2 has very low volume, so it's mostly contributing the attack sound.

ARP-2600 normalled patch with moderate ADSR modulation of the filter.

Sequential Circuits OB-6 using a polysaw sound being controlled by the Novation Bassstation II."

MS 2600 NG Series 009 DIY ARP 2600 w/ Keyboard by hr.matthias beese

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

This one was spotted and sent in via M Me.

Listing translation via Google: "You are bidding on an MS 2600 NG series 009 - a very, very good (ingenious) rare arp 2600 clone with extended features (NG stands for NEW generation) - the condition of the ms 2600 ng is good - the specially developed keyboard or keyboard is as good as new (once unpacked, connected and tested) - the developer or builder hr. matthias beese has practically built all his heart and soul and know-how into these devices - the result is a hammer device with a hammer sound and an infinite number of features (wavetables, sequencers, connection options, etc etc, etc. , also thanks to the keyboards specially developed for the synth .....

Of course, this is a self-made system, i.e. DIY. the keyboard was completely set up by mr. matthias beese himself, the synth by a trained electronics technician. if you are looking for something special, far from the mainstream, you will get your money's worth here.

To list all the features here would be too much of a good thing. if you are interested, please go to the homepage of the developer hr.matthias beese.

here you can call up the individual components, structure, list of features and much more.

Here you are bidding on the synth and the associated keyboard and associated accessories (power supply).

Further information, sound samples (you tube or org. homepage), links including an interview with the developer can also be found on the amazona.de homepage.

if you have serious questions or offers please email .... on request I can send more pictures (interior, etc.)

since private sale no liability or guarantee.

Since the system is determined to be over 40 kilos and very difficult to pack or send, only self-collection.

In addition, it makes sense to take a look at or (test) the whole thing yourself. :-)

purchase price amount is to be paid when picking up (do not offer any further payment options)

Updated Site Links & Some Tips Navigating the Site

This is just an FYI that the links above (top of the site) have recently been updated. I'm trying to keep things minimial for easier navigation. They are pretty self explanatory, as are the USEFUL LINKS on the (top) right, but just in case:

NEWS = news items / product announcements and the like.

UPDATES = updates in posts. Check this link daily. That mystery keyboard controller in the KORG ARP 2600 post? It was identified and the post has been updated.

POPULAR = Popular Posts, Labels and Archvies = the most popular posts on the site based on traffic directly to the posts, followed by a dropdown of site labels, and a node branch of all posts on the site sorted by year, month, date. Click the dropdown arrows to expand each node.

RARE = the rarest of the rare in the synth world. Many feature one-of-kind items.

MEMBERS = posts featuring supporting member content.

SUPPORT MATRIXSYNTH! = page with a list of supporting members and where you can support the site if you'd like.

---

On the right you'll find a repeat of the links along with the following added:

SUBMIT A POST = how to submit a post.

AUCTIONS = auction posts on the site.

COMMENTS = a page featuring the latest comments in posts. You can click on the user names, or post titles to get to the post.

EBAY | REVERB | AMAZON = shortcut links to get to each site. They are affiliate links so if you use them you support the site. There is no extra cost to you. If you don't use them they collect the full seller fees.

And that's it. At the bottom of every post you will find labels that will filter all posts by that label. On the top right you will find a search box to search on posts. It's set to sort by date but you can find a link to sort by relevance on top after the results come up. Finally, at the bottom of every page you will find NEXT links to get to the next page of posts. Once on the next page you'll see PREVIOUS PAGE and HOME added. Home gets you back to the front page and previous takes you to the prevoius page. Keep clicking NEXT until you catch up to the last post you viewed during your prior visit. Again, all of this is pretty common sense. Explore and enjoy the site!

ARP 2600 w GRP R24 Sequencer + Swiss Daisy DSP

video upload by O.Z. Hall

"The GRP Synthesizer company's R24 sequencer is driving two voices on the ARP 2600 and a third voice provided by the ZebraSynth.net Swiss Daisy DSP module, in "pluck voice" mode, with delay and reverb.
I'm using several features of the R24 including:
3 separate sequences (CV/Gate out ; MIDI also available)
Some sequences use the "ratchet" feature to double gate a single step.
The second row is only 6 steps, to provide a poly-rhythm for greater complexity (less monotonous ).

Thanks to my long time friend Rod Scott for loaning me the GRP R24. Check out his channel:
