Afrorack: Sound samples from the filter etched on a PCB (Very percussive)

video upload by Afrorack

"From the my last video that I uploaded, I was not able to show the filter from the PCB that I etched working. That is because 2 legs of one of the transistors were touching. More specifically their pads on the PCB. Anyways, I sorted that out and now the filter is working. The original filter from Yusynth is here if you want to check it out http://yusynth.net/Modular/EN/STEINER..." [mentioned in this recent post on Nyle Steiner]

I etched my first PCB! Well almost

"I am always excited to learn something new. This is a skill i've always wanted to learn since I build my circuits on perfboard. It didn't come out perfect but non the less I salvaged the circuit in other ways. If you have pointers on how to make better transfers leave a comment below."

Fess Grandiose: In Sequence - Using Peak Presets // Novation

video upload by NovationTV

"In this edition of Artist: In Sequence, we caught up with the talented, Chicago-based beatmaker and producer - Fess Grandiose. As an associate editor for Reverb and instructor at Afrorack, an organisation that uses modular synthesis to bridge equity gaps and helps bring African American youth into the world of STEM, he's a central part of the Chicago music community.

He talks about how Peak's presets allow him to get ideas flowing quickly, and why sequencing Peak and his modular system with Circuit Tracks makes for a fun, hands-on approach to making music.

Making a MIDI to CV converter/At Africa's longest River!

video upload by Afrorack

"Midi to CV converters don't have to be expensive. You can make one for your modular synth for the cost of 5 dollars and a weekend if you have the time. Here I share my ideas. They are not perfect but they work! I also share a link to the Arduino code that I wrote. Again not perfect but should give you a general idea. Plus enjoy the sights of the River Nile in the background.

How to make cheap modular synth modules-MS20 filter

video upload by Afrorack

"For a while I've been wanting to make an MS20 filter and I decided to show the process. Never had money to buy modules that are 300 dollars or so! Its based on the schematic by Rene Schmitz but I use the LM13700 and its internal buffers. The sounds in the background track are all running through the finished filter.

Moog One Firmware v1.4.0 Update & Lisa Bella Donna to Support AFRORACK

Moog One | Oscillator Compensation Calibration Moog Music Inc

"This video demonstrates how to run the Oscillator Compensation Calibration in Moog One's v1.4.0 firmware.

Oscillator Compensation is a new update to Moog One’s tuning algorithm that provides real-time tuning compensation across the range of the instrument. Even if your Moog One is well-tuned and calibrated, running the Oscillator Compensation will improve tuning perception and performance.

Learn how to update Moog One's firmware: https://youtu.be/s0oJAe3i95U"

"A Major Update & New Explorations

Moog One Firmware v1.4.0 plus more than 20 new patches are now available for Moog One registered owners.

This major firmware update adds Oscillator Compensation Calibration to Moog One’s tuning algorithm to provide real-time tuning compensation across the range of the instrument.

We are also proud to present a new set of compositions by Lisa Bella Donna documenting her continued explorations of Moog One's capabilities. These tracks were composed using 12 of the new presets designed for the v1.4.0 release.

This collection of tracks is also available for purchase. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to AFRORACK, an audio arts organization committed to providing children and young adults of color access to modular synthesizers and sound design tools. Moog Music will be matching all donations."

Listen to the Tracks Here:

"100% of the proceeds from album sales will be donated to AFRORACK, an audio arts organization committed to providing children and young adults of color access to modular synthesizers and sound design tools. Moog Music will be matching all donations.

This record is a collection of instant compositions implementing 12 new patches developed by Lisa Bella Donna for the latest Moog One firmware update.

Throughout this EP, Lisa demonstrates the synthesizer’s infinite modulation matrix, impressive envelope generator range and control, and more Moog One features that shine in these new Polymoog-style presets.

The majority of these tracks are mixed right on board without using a DAW. Other than two pieces with added percussion, all sounds you hear throughout this EP are from Moog One. Observe how the new patches unfold to create beautifully complex and rich sounds in an improvisational environment.

DivKid / SSF Rnd Step Eurorack Module Jam and Patch Walkthrough

Perfect Circuit

"DivKid teamed up with SSF to make the RND STEP module. We used the RND STEP to modulate parameters on both of the voice modules in this patch. The RND STEP is basically six noise generators going into six sample and holds with some clever normalization so you can generate six random modulations with one trigger.

In this patch we used the SSF Entity Percussion module to generate all of the drum sounds and the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter as a voice sequenced by the Make Noise 0-CTRL. The XAOC Batumi and ALM Pam's New Workout clock everything. We used the Future Sound Systems Gristleizer Filter to add some screeching resonance that can be switched in and out with the Afrorack and Ali Modular OR Switch. Everything is mixed together with the Endorphin.es Cockpit.

Mystic Circuits: PFRsillator Mini - Fundraiser for Protester Bail Fund

Mystic Circuits

"I'm using some DIY kits that I had from a previous fundraiser to raise money for the Minneapolis and Los Angeles Freedom Funds as well as for Afrorack. If you would like to donate to these organizations directly the links are:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/peoples-ci...

https://minnesotafreedomfund.org/

https://www.afrorack.org/

If you would like to buy the kit, go to our website: www.MysticCircuits.com"

"A simple DIY kit designed with DIY beginners in mind. The full kit comes with everything you need to build a PFRsillator Mini along with a power supply (wall supply in the states, 9V battery for international purchases). There is a complementary build video to show how to build this kit in real time, showing each step in detail without fast forwarding through anything. The synth itself is a touch-based noise maker which is very responsive to small differences in pressure. You want modem sounds? This thing makes a wide variety of them.

‍This kit is intended to fundraise money for the ongoing BLM protests happening now, of every order $20 will go to the Minneapolis Freedom Fund, $20 to the Los Angeles Freedom Fund and $5 to Afrorack. If you would like to donate directly to any of these organizations please check their respective links [above]"

AFRORACK Chicago GoFundMe

Spotted this fundraiser on Noise Engineering's Twitter, @noiseeng.

First a quick clarification, there are two references to Afrorack on the site, one is a Chicago music education institution, which this post refers to, and another is the DIY maker Afrorack in Africa. A quick search on Afrorack will bring up posts for both.

That said, AFRORACK Chicago has a GoFundMe page up to help them running during the COVID-19 outbreak. Click through for additional details.

"We don’t know how long we’ll be in this state of emergency. Keeping the lights on at AFRORACK is costly, and with all classes canceled during the COVID-19 lockdown, our organization is struggling to stay afloat. No classes means, no income. I Don’t have the funds to keep this going on by myself anymore.

AFRORACK is the Chicago music education institution, a central hub of the city's youth modular synthesis education that's been serving the black and brown community since 2016. It's both a vital source of audio-focused STEM education in Chicago and an opportunity to inspire children of color. I’ve been keeping this afloat alone from its beginning, but Now AFRORACK needs your help.

In these challenging times, we need to band together with our friends and family. Together, we can help ensure AFRORACK stays active in Chicago so many more generations can benefit from its important mission for community and wellness."

Intro from Korg's Tatsuya Takahashi:

"The Pyjama Cookbook A guide to self-feeding by KORG Germany and friends.

As our small team of Verena, Lydia, Max and I clamber to get KORG Germany off the ground, we occasionally swap cooking recipes. What a lifesaver. Because who isn’t tired of their own cooking by now? And why not collect more and share? The aim of The Pyjama Cookbook is to share the favourite concoctions from our friends from all parts of music, in the hope of instilling solidarity and encouraging friendship during these extraordinary times. Well. It’s also just for laughs. Have fun."
