2/11/24 (drone, DC-50 feedback) Korg MS-20 MKI plays itself + CRS Tube Reverb + Roland DC-50 (hall)

video upload by Cfpp0

"Pre-Super Bowl drone. The Korg MS-20 MKI main output runs through the CRS Tube Reverb, panned center. The MS-20 headphone output goes to the Roland DC-50, set to Hall, with feedback, panned left."

2/6/24 SSL 1660 The Matrix (x2) + Free State FX 103 LPG + STG MooSonics Vanilla Envelope + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"Recently found a used Free State FX (FSFX) 103 Lopass Gate, so this is a first try, using the STG MooSonics Vanilla Envelope module to fire the LPG. One SSL 1660 goes into the LPG (the left SSL 1660, playing the bass line) and the other goes into the VCA on the Vanilla Envelope (the right SSL 1660, playing the higher, pluckier layer). So the same envelope affects both the LPG and VCA, but pretty differently. Vactrol!"

2/5/24 (atmospheric river range combinations) ElectroComp EML 200 (x2) + Langevin Filter + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"Two ElectroComp EML 200 synthesizers are cross-patched, and their master oscillator ranges are adjusted, which affects both samplers, the envelopes, etc. The bottom EML 200 runs through a passive Langevin filter, panned left, high passing. The Chase Bliss & Meris CXM 1978 is set to a delayed reverb, with the reverb increased towards the end. Also used a Synthesizers.com Q124 mult."

Metasonix R-56 Vacuum-Tube Spring Reverb

11/16/23 Metasonix R-56 + Birdkids Unicorn Boom + Gieskes VU Perc + TR-606 + Tapco 4400 + CXM 1978 video upload by Cfpp0

via this auction

"If not for Metasonix, I would never have bought any eurorack. Metasonix is a legendary company, producing legendary products. And, of them, this R-56 is amongst the rarest.

The R-56 has been out of production for years, and will never be re-released. We’ve all asked. The parts are simply not available. So these are rare, and expensive.

It’s a WTF sort of module. A spring reverb you can voltage control. It has a unique sound, even within the Metasonix realm. Customers complained about wanting MORE gain, said the great Tube Pioneer, so this module has it. That insane gain, plus the ability to feedback an electromechanical spring reverb, make it a module that requires finesse (and maybe an attenuator, or matrix mixer). If you are impatient, or unfamiliar with Metasonix‘s quirks, please pass on this listing. It’s odd. Really weird. Also it requires a lot of power for the cold inrush, power on, tube warm up, so you’ll need a nice beefy power supply like an RKP or Trogotronic.

The video in this listing’s photo section features the sound of this exact module.

More likely, you’ve been longing for this, but the blood sport that is Metasonix’s secondary market has kept you from your dark distorted springy dreams. Realize them now. Live them. Buy."

1/4/24 Technosaurus Cyclodon sequences Microcon + Peavey DDL-3 + CXM 1978 (paper pill bun, softer)

video upload by Cfpp0

"Changed a couple notes on the Technosaurus Cyclodon, but this is more or less the sequence as in the 1/3/24 video, just slower, with a different delay on the Peavey DDL-3, and a smoother, less grainy reverb on the Chase Bliss CXM 1978."

12/13/23 (filter opening, pitch) Roland Jupiter 6 + Akai ME20A + Alesis Midiverb II (46)

video upload by Cfpp0

"Added the Alesis Midiverb II to the Roland Jupiter 6 and Akai ME20A window. It’s a bloom machine, but it’s great at reversed effects, like this reversed delay preset #46. The Midiverb II is being used in mono here. I still don’t really understand how the ME20A turns chords into these odd sequences in sequential playback mode, but when I switch to up mode it makes a bit more sense."

12/5/23 (300, 500, 1000 lullaby) Northeast Electronics Corp. TTS-4ANH & 4XDV + Peavey DDL-3

video upload by Cfpp0

"A lullaby, a duet! Three selectable frequencies (300cps, 500cps, 1000kc) on the NEC TTS-4ANH are alternated with the send freq switch, and fed into the Peavey DDL-3 digital delay pedal to overlap and sustain. No reverb is used so that the odd character of the NEC TTS-4ANH can be heard, but the highs and mids are boosted on the little Mackie Mix8 to bring out the distortion, harmonics, and switch clicks. Shot in the last few minutes of daylight."

12/1/23 Roland (& RYK & E-licktronic) System 100m + Tapco 4400 + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"The sequence and drum pattern are lined up differently in this take, with more emphasis on the upbeat. The E-licktronic 118a snare goes to the Roland 150 and gets a ring mod with one of the 112 oscillator outs, then that snare joins the kick in the 121 filter. The 112 oscillators are going to the other half of the 121, to the 172 phase shifter, to the 130 vca, enveloped by the 140. But the 112 oscillators also go to the 172 gate delay (thanks Alex Ball for the tip) for an extra sub oscillator layer, which goes back to the 112, but it’s not much of a feedback loop. CV from the RYK 185 and several LFOs modulate."

"This is a study for something.

S&H out to the passive control voltage routing panel as a mute. Forgot to utilize the panning on the 131 mixer to bleed signals to the two DDL-3 delays."

11/15/23 Roland Jupiter 6 + Peavey DDL-3 + Chase Bliss CXM 1978 (arpeggio ranges)

video upload by Cfpp0

"Ding ding dong, dong dong ding, dingy dingy ding. Four ranges of an arpeggio, with delay from the Peavey DDL-3 and a wash of pre-delay reverb from the CXM 1978. The CXM returns to two faders on the Mackie Onyx 1604, and they are ridden. Also the settings on the CXM 1978 are gradually changed a few times."

11/13/23 Korg Volca Sample (originally recorded on 8/15/23) + Metasonix TM-5 & TM-7 + Peavey DDL-3

video upload by Cfpp0

"Here’s some music to do the dishes to, or peel potatoes. On 8/15/23 I had the chance to try a Korg Volca Sample and made a single video recording. In this 11/13/23 video, that 8/15/23 video recording is playing back on an Apple Air MYFT2LL/A iPad, with a dongle and Y-cable sending one audio channel to the Metasonix TM-7 and the other into the Peavey DDL-3 into the Metasonix TM-5. Some 01: small stage reverb is applied to the TM-7 signal in the Mackie Mix12FX, where it’s panned center. The TM-5 signal gets a low cut and is panned hard left, dry, no reverb send. The TM-5 Activate BN6 tube switch and the TM-7 Teabag switch both feature. I got lucky twice and flipped the teabag switch when the bass drum cuts out in the original recording."
