Patch notes:
Eloquencer is the brain of this patch, it's clocking the ER-301 playing sampled drums. I use the Eloquencer to make drum fills by pressing the corresponding buttons on the frontplate. The only playing voice is the Akemie's Taiko triggered by the Eloquencer and modulated by Rampage and my tiny fingers. The sound is then compressed by the Instant lo-fi Junky. A Small amount of reverb is applied to the whole mix by Erica Pico DSP.

No CV sequencer is used in this patch!

"This was a part of my performance at 'Modular on the Spot' in Los Angeles. A song I composed that you not often hear from me, very ambient, and it's called: 'Modular Contentment'. Also I cut some of my Drone shots into the montage, that I shot in Thailand during the scouting of one of my movies. All performed on my Eurorack Modular Synth.

This music is a one-take performance, music is performed live without edits or external sequencers other than what's in the case.

He gave us a killer dark and ambient techno set with pounding drums, deep dark textures, samples and an ever evolving arrangement through various riffs and themes. The rig rundown videos give us a chance to speak to the artists, check out their approach and gear talking about their performance and how they did it. VCOADSR performing a blinding modular techno set, that certainly in the room sounded like multi-tracked, produced, compressed and EQ'd electronic production. To get that level of sound design and production out of a small live set up was amazing.

Final Design for the Proposed Percussa Super Wavetable Oscillator/Sampler - "Super Signal Processor"

This is a follow-up to this post. Note the two modules are now one. Be sure to see this video if you haven't already. According to Percussa, this is the final design. You can see the name of the eurorack module will be the Percussa "Super Signal Processor". The following are some additional details:

"I've decided to make this module a bit more general and provide ALL the DSP algorithms from the ENGINE on it. So this becomes much more than a 'super wavetable oscillator'. Here is a list of modules I already have:

1) wavetable osc
2) sampler
3) LFO (sine, square, saw, etc)
4) variable frequency noise
5) white noise
6) DC generator
7) envelope generator (ADSR + A/DR shape control and looping features)
8) waveshaper
9) comb filter
10) static variable filter
11) step sequencer

Obviously there will be a menu to patch modules and route signals in and out."

"Regarding granular: You can already record wav files (up to 22 minutes long) and you can load those into either the wavetable osc or sampler module. The WT osc lets you chop up the sample on the fly using an encoder, and you can then use the index encoder to scroll through the chopped up parts. You can of course change pitch (coarse/fine). In the recorder you can crop samples, normalize and reverse them.

In the sampler module you can layer 8 samples or trigger them individually, change start/length of playback, pitch (coarse/fine), using them as looping samples or one shots, etc. All this functionality we already have in the ENGINE synth and will be in this module too.

Using slices/grains in a cloud formation with density control and forward/reverse scanning is not there yet, and morphing between snapshot is also not implemented. But those can be added.

You'll be able to have lots of modules, since this is a quad core A17 and not a single core A8. So about 10 times more processing power than what the ER-301 offers, for example."

"Eurorack modular with Dave Smith Instruments Tempest and Elektron Analog Heat.

Tempest sends clock to Intellijel uMidi, which distributes cv around the system.

Bass voice is Atlantis played by Monome Ansible Kria.

Second voice is Dixie II+ and Polaris, from channel 2 of Kria.

Third voice is from B2 sequencer channel of the Tempest, playing Synth Tech E330 through a Cwejman MMF1s.

There are a couple of other melodic parts coming from the Tempest itself.

Orthogonal Devices ER-301 is playing some noise, ambient, and speech samples (from Synth Tech circuit bent module) that I created and recorded previously. Trigger from Malekko Varigate8/Voltage Block.

Tiptop One has some percussion loaded.

Audio Damage Neuron is doing the noisy hi-hat thing.

Intellijel Rainmaker and Audio Damage Eos are on the effects send of the WMD Performance Mixer. Eleketron Analog Heat is inserted into the master bus."

Heavy: a modular synth performance

"Heavy is a Track from my album The Kindness of Circuits You Meet

I laid off quite a few elements as 12 and 21 bar loops from the original track. That track was in two movements; the front half made with an OBXA, Minimoog, Jupiter 8, and Tempest and the back half comprised of mainly modular sounds (Cwejman and Macbeth). I loaded these samples into the ER-301 and sliced on the bars.

I then recreated as much as I could (minus the polyphonic pads, mainly) on the Teletype/Kria controlling the E370, Atlantis, etc. Doubling the percussion with the Varigate (not as tight as I want yet, with the sampled loops…still playing with the offsets).

The Teletype is again the brains of the operation. Spitting out triggers and slice selection to the ER301 based on counters, while at the same time selecting the pattern to be played on the Kria.

I made a Grid scene with the Grid ops that basically functions like Ableton Live with Push. Trigger both samples and Kria Pattern changes. Varying brightness of the buttons shows me which section is where. I can then blend and crossfade between samples from the track and live sounds coming from the modular in realtime. I’d say it’s a pretty even split between the two in this performance."

instruō arbhar also goes in clouds.

"„actually i wanted to sell the three modules (rings, marbles, dld) because i used them very seldom and there is no more space for them in my case. i screwed them into my little case for the sales photos and then i thought to myself, another osc and a vca, let's see what kind of loops you can build with them. small and handy, perfect for the couch. now I'm so excited again that I'm building a new system around the 3 modules."

all 8 loops were recorded live with this small system. almost all sounds come from mutable instruments rings. a couple of "buchla" percussion and ring modulator sounds come from the dreadbox osc. afterwards the loops were mixed with the er-301 and got a little delay from the magneto.
