Experiments with the Sequential Prophet12 and the Hologram Electronics Microcosm

videos by Christopher White

Playlist:
An experiment with the @Sequential Prophet12 and the @Hologram Electronics Microcosm. part 1
"Finally combined my trusty Sequential Prophet 12 module with the Hologram Electronics Microcosm and really happy with the results. This was the first take. I had quickly composed a chord sequence for the Prophet12's arpeggiator then what you hear is what happened next."
Prophet 12 and Microcosm outtake...
Just wanted to upload this too. Some interesting things happened in this take... Changing the 'spread' in the amp section of the @Sequential Prophet12 created a nice groove so I wanted to show you!
A Prophet 12, a Microcosm, and a Human Arpeggiator Non-stop Device (H.A.N.D.).
A live ambient track using the @Sequential Prophet 12 and the @Hologram Electronics Microcosm. Plus a bit of my felt piano.

Hologram Electronics Microcosm

Published on Feb 18, 2020 Hologram Electronics

Hologram Electronics

"Introducing MICROCOSM, a new effects toolkit for adventurous musicians.

Microcosm rearranges and reinterprets your sound in new and exciting ways using a variety of granular sampling, delay, and looping techniques. Cascading microloops can be locked into tight tap-tempo synced rhythms, diffused into glacial ambient textures, woven into hypnotic drones, and much more.

Microcosm's 11 groundbreaking effects (with a total of 44 preset variations) allow you to slice, stretch, rearrange, and manipulate your playing in musical ways. Tweak the sound further using Microcosm's built-in pitch modulation, lush stereo reverb (with 4 selectable modes), and resonant lowpass filter.

When you’ve found a sound you like, the built-in stereo phrase looper can capture up to 60 seconds of your performance and even allows for layering phrases from different effects. All loops, overdubs, and settings can be saved and recalled later using the pedal’s 16 user presets."

Hologram Infinite Jets Resynthesizer by Hologram Electronics

Published on Mar 6, 2017 Hologram Electronics

via Hologram

"Infinite Jets Resynthesizer is a suite of expressive effects to transform your instrument in new and exciting ways.

Infinite Jets tracks the dynamics of your playing, samples individual notes and chords, and then reinterprets them as new sounds using two independent channels of infinite sustain. It offers 4 separate sampling effects in one: Blur, Synth, Glitch, and Swell.

Create lush ambient textures that seamlessly fade from one chord to the next, infinite sustain, glitching granular loops, filtered synthesizer sounds, violin-like fuzz and swell effects, drones, distorted delay and vibrato, and much more."

Hologram Cosmos and Volca Modular Haunting Ambient Soundscapes

video upload by Dj Puzzle

"@Hologram Electronics meets @Korg Volca Modular

Hey fam! I'm having fun running my Volca Modular through a Microcosm and making some haunting ambient soundscapes. Still getting the hang of this Hologram Electronics Microcosm. In this case I created my own presets using the Haze setting with a long reverb tail in the Space knob. The patch I made in the Modular to turn just a few knobs to drastically change the timbre of the source sound which is then graciously effected by the Microcosm. While ambient soundscapes is it's forte the looper stands out as a separate tool as you can hear in my example. I’m changing the playback speed of the loop that I captured. The loop is layered with the real time effect. I hope you like the sounds. Imagine now what I can do if I record this into my DAW and integrate it into piece accompanied by more instruments. #hologramelectronics #volcamodular"

Hologram Electronics Microcosm: The Magic Sauce (Multi-Instrument Demo)

video by Sound Isles

"The Microcosm combines granular sampling, delay, and looping techniques to create gorgeous ambient accompaniment, transformation and immersion with its stereo reverb. Sounds are diffused into icy ambient textures, glitched sequences, pitched pads, and cinematic drones. Microloops can be locked into tight tap-tempo rhythms and synced to devices over MIDI. Save your effects settings, and recall your loops with user presets.

The secret is out. The Microcosm is an inspiring device that adds a magic sauce to whatever sounds you're cooking with. There is a lot of sonic exploration to be had and sound design potential with its well designed combination of features. The Microcosm is a multi-tool for musicians and explorers of all sounds.

Let's go on a journey.

Modular + Pedals

Published on Jan 8, 2018 Modular + Pedals

Playlist:

1. Modular + Pedals #1: Rings - Boss DM-2w
Self-playing ambient patch. Patch notes below.

Boss DM-2w connected and modulated via ALM Busy Circuits S.B.G Stompbox Gateway.

Patch notes:

ALM Busy Circuits Pamela's New Workout is supplying pitch CV, modulation, and triggers for the whole patch.

Channel 1 and 2 are running two different euclidean patterns of attenuated and offset random CV, those are joined by the precision adder on Mutable Instruments Links and then sent to the Intellijel uScale II, and then to Rings.

Channels 3, 4, 7 and 8 are sending LFO to brightness, frequency, damping and position on Rings.

Channel 6 is sending triggers to the trigger in on Clouds.

Channel 5 is sending a heavily attenuated random CV to the EXP input on the S.B.G, which is then converted to expression pedal, and sent to the expression pedal input on the Boss DM-2w.

All channels on Pam's are making heavy use of the random step skipping.

Mutable Instruments Rings is in sympathetic strings mode with 4 note polyphony. The odd output is patched into the input of the S.B.G, out to the Boss DM-2w and back again, and from there to the Clouds.

Boss DM-2w is in the custom mode, with medium feedback.

Mutable Instruments Clouds is the last step in the patch, adding some extra ambience and some stereo movement.

Hologram Microcosm: Creating and Manipulating Samples with Digitakt

video upload by Hologram Electronics

"Microcosm can transform simple sound sources into unique and creative sample material. In this video, we run a Kalimba through Microcosm and record a short sample within the Elektron Digitakt. Using the Digitakt, we mangle the sample and sequence it into a pattern (shoutout @BlankFor_ms for the other sample tracks in this project!) In a stroke of curiosity/excessiveness, we routed the resampled track through Microcosm again and captured it in a jam in the second half of the video."

Hologram Microcosm: Hold Sampler with Elektron Model:Cycles

video upload by Hologram Electronics

"In this one, we fed two melodic tracks from the Elektron Model:Cycles into Microcosm and then engaged the Hold Sampler after a few measures. When bringing in the rhythm tracks, we muted these two melodic tracks and used the Arp B preset to fill in that space. Because it was synced to the Cycles’ clock, moving the Time knob around different subdivisions of the tempo made it interactive and dynamic while staying in time."

Hologram Microcosm: Electric Piano and Mono Synth

video upload by Hologram Electronics

"In addition to its eccentric effects, Microcosm can be used in more traditional sound design contexts too!

🎹 The electric piano here (Hohner Pianet) has no onboard effects. With Microcosm's Looper Only mode, we created a chorus + reverb effect to run the Pianet through."
