Intellijel Cascadia: Drum Synthesis & Sampling Workflow (featuring Elektron Digitakt)

video upload by Intellijel

"Intellijel Cascadia 🤝 Elektron Digitakt

In this video, Matt walks through assembling a electronic drum kit, only using samples from Cascadia. It's an exceptional drum synthesizer voice, with plenty of sound sources & utilities which make it perfect for crafting Kicks, Snares and other percussive sounds. For this demo, we teamed up Cascadia with the Elektron Digitakt - a sampler & sequencer. However, this process is totally repeatable with other sampler hardware or software - whichever you prefer!"

Frap Tools CUNSA Saturnian Rainforest Patch

video upload by Nightlife Electronics

"Crafting some Saturnian rainforest vibes on the Frap Tools CUNSA. Using it as the only sound source in the patch, pinging each of the four filter cores with a rotating series of clocks from the Make Noise Tempi. a sprinkling of FM here and there and finally running into the Intellijel Rainmaker for a touch of comb delay. Dense sounds from a relatively simple patch!

The Frap Tools CUNSA is available at Nightlife Electronics: https://nightlife-electronics.com/pro...

Inverted echoes (a modular patch idea)

video upload by Electrum Modular

"The aim here – besides trying out the TSNM as an expressive keyboard – was to generate an inverted echo, so that a descending melody comes back as an ascending one, or vice versa. (I stole this idea from Bach, who often used contrapuntal inversion, playing the theme “upside-down”).

Mutable Instruments’ Beads (in delay mode) is perfect for this, but any module with a long delay would work. The other crucial ingredient is a multi-channel mixer/attenuverter such as Make Noise Maths (here, I’m using Acid Rain’s Junction).

Other modules used:
Intellijel’s Bifold
Intellijel’s Dixie II+
Intellijel’s Scales

Small Case Jam Sessions #15

video upload by FL3SHB4CK

"This jam is taking part of the Hiss and a Roar Sound Design Challenge 2
link: https://hissandaroar.com/v3/sound-des...
Patch notes: it's a kind of Sampler Krell patch.
Samples from H&R has been processed and edited into 10 new samples, and loaded as a bank into the 4ms sampler. Voltage Block is an 8 tracks, 16 steps sequencer, clocked by the "end of sample" of the 4ms Sampler. The 4 first tracks are modulating pitch, start position, length and sample of the sampler. The 4 last tracks are modulating time, desity, pitch and reverb of Beads, the real time granular effect, feeded by the sampler in stereo.
The sampler is set in loop mode, so each time a loop of sample ends the sequencer advance to the next step of the 8 tracks, each in random order.
It's rather chaotic but you can control it a bit with attenuators and knobs positions of the sampler. In addition, the Intellijel FSR 1U (top left corner) allow me to freeze the buffer of Beads, and to modulate the size parameter, from reverse long to short. And outside of the case, a simple passive switch can mute the "end of sample" gate to freeze the Voltage Block.
Quite FUN :)

esthetical note: focus on cables is totally intentional."

Pimp My Mono

video upload by Cylob Sonic Research

"The Macbeth Micromac-D is a boutique analogue synth from 2013. It has a three oscillator design, and I think it sounds lovely. There’s just one problem. It can only play one measly note at a time! But what if it were possible to play this synth with unlimited polyphony, in real time? Let's find out!
----------
00:00 Introduction, Micromac sound demos
02:02 Technique explanation
03:51 First listen
06:27 Patch parameters
10:13 Multistage envelopes
14:03 Jam 1
18:49 Jam 2
19:52 Jam 3
23:26 Discrete MIDI notes
----------
Some additional information:

The explanation of the first patch was simplified. There are a couple of issues to contend with when generating polyphonic parts from a monosynth. There isn’t just one buffer in use, rather multiple in action. Every note on rotates the buffer to be recorded into. This allows the notes of the previous chord to die away while the next chord starts to play, if the playback speed for those previous notes still leaves some signal to be played.

Another issue has to do with recording. A new note on should kill recording into the previous buffer. Otherwise, the notes of the previous chord still in action will start playing a recording of the new note on. I made this selectable in the first patch, because the effect may be desirable from an aesthetic viewpoint.

One more consideration when using an analogue synth controlled with CV and gate as the sound source. If notes are already being held down when the source synth is retriggered, the gate will remain high. As a result, the envelope will not restart. Therefore it’s best to use an envelope generator which is able to be retriggered, like the Intellijel Dual ADSR. That way, every new incoming note will retrigger the envelope.

One last thing: neither version of the patch compensates for audio latency, which means that lower notes are a little late to start."

INTRODUCING: ENDORPHIN.ES - AUTOPILOT 1U / review by MATTHS

video upload by Endorphin.es

"Welcome AUTOPILOT 1U – smallest 1U tile utility which proved to be very practical to tame the melodic value in the eurorack systems - AVAILABLE NOW

AUTOPILOT is an innovative auto-tuner module for analog oscillators. Tune your oscillators fast, just apply the AUTOPILOT in between the pitch CV and apply the reference waveform. Before it was available as a dual autotuner in 3U version (4hp) and now is available as a single autotuner 1U Intellijel format version (6hp). The problem with all analog voltage controlled oscillators is that the applied 1v/oct pitch voltage might not match up exactly to what note’s frequency they should generate and it'll end up sounding out of tune. What's worse is that even if you adjust for this you'll need to re-adjust as the instrument gets warmer. With the AUTOPILOT we play a reference A or C note thru the pitch CV into an oscillator. Single button press enables the tune function to the nearest A or C note. Long hold press disables the tune. Super long hold changes the tune from A to C notes or vice versa.

Big thanks to MATTHS @matthsmatthsmatths for collaborating on that review for our channel"

Intellijel Cascadia - Patching in the FX Section

video upload by Intellijel

"Who ever said FX pedals were just for guitars?

Cascadia has a dedicated FX section for patching in pedals and line level FX processors. No need for adapters or weird cables - ¼” jack sockets for Send, Return and Expression control can be found on the back of Cascadia, with complete signal control to ensure the best possible match up. Cascadia works great with delay, reverb, distortion, chorus.. Pretty much whatever FX you have to hand. Matt explains how this all works while partnering Cascadia with some of our favourite pedals. What are your favourite FX for synthesizers? Let us know in the comments!
