"First i demo a few patterns I programmed along some of the functionalities like "flam" (which affects either toms or snares depending on the state of the dedicated switch), "solo", "fill", "bass only", "second rhythm".
Then I program a pattern on the fly to show how straightforward it is to do (either in "TR" recording or in realtime).
After that I demo the presets of the unit and finally I hooked the Vermona to a Roland TR8S to use the latter as a MIDI pad and sequencer to play the DRM's sound."
"Analog drum machine from East Germany, often tagged as the "east block TR-808". I think it deserves better than this comparision, since it's a very nice sounding drum machine on its own, with many features for the time (MIDI, optional trigger input and individual outputs etc)
Unit was serviced, calibrated and is in fully working order. You could argue some switches sometimes mis trigger or double trigger but nothing major, and quite normal for a 40 years old technology.
Cosmetic is in very good condition with some wear of course."

"No drum machine is really complete without a punchy, snappy snare. Together with the kick, it creates the rhythmic backbone for most grooves.
So in my ongoing quest for creating a Roland-inspired modular drum machine, I knew I had to come up with a snare circuit that would complement the kick and hi-hat I‘ve already designed. After a lot of fine tuning, I landed on a circuit that can emulate a TR-606, TR-808 or TR-909 snare."
No drum machine is really complete without a punchy, snappy Snare Drum. Together with the Kick, it creates the rhythmic backbone for most grooves. So for our percussion-focused second season of educational DIY kits, we knew we had to come up with a Snare circuit that would complement the Kick and Hi-Hat we’ve already released. "I was asked about how fast the internal random LFO is. Hard tell. So I decided to make a demo on the capacities of the internam modulation of MAM ADX-1.
A technically 100% identical re-issue is MODE MACHINES ADX-1.

MAM ADX-1 is a very handy 5 voice Analog Drum Expander with single and stereo outs. Affordable back in the day but quite rare right now with a corrisponding higher price. It features the classic analog drum sounds like ROLAND TR-808, 909, KORG Mini Pops etc. Here it was triggered with LOGIC PRO via MIDI.
MAM or MUSIC AND MORE discontinued it. Their latest product was a 303 sound expander called MB-33 launched in 2015. There was a second edition of this dummer by MODE MACHINES in black an silver at about the same time."

This is a total game changer for more than the obvious reasons - the Solton Programmer 24 has a sequencer, 8 separate drum volume sliders and 8 audio outputs as well as trigger capabilities for the individual drum sounds. It also sends clock and has Midi in/out/thru so it can be easily incorporated to whatever you got cooking with other machines.
It’s a non-invasive modification and fully reversible - no soldering - no drilling holes anywhere - it's installed by simply removing the four original drums eproms inside and hooking up a small additional board in place of two of them.
The modificationis divided in 4 memory banks of 4 drum kits each - you program the banks to your preference - this way you can quickly switch between the drum kits you use the most - or you can of course toggle through all the 32 drum kits sequentially. Programming the memory banks is easy and sll the instructions you need are provided on Reverb :
The Solton Programmers drum section can accomodate 13 drum sounds per kit. Some of the drum machines included featured have considerably less sounds and in those cases Andrea, the inventor and seller of the drum chip, has added more drum sounds in the same realm as the drum machine in question. Due to the architecture of the Solton Programmer 24 the sample rate is 8 bit PCM 22500 Hz which sounds low but is definitely sufficient to maintain character and punchiness - I think it sounds damn good. This video was made a few months ago and features a trial version that's now been upgraded - clips and smaller issues sometimes heard in the video have been ironed out and fixed on the version that's available for purchase.

Synthesized, analog hi-hats are pretty fascinating. That’s because emulating any kind of cymbal using an analog circuit is tough, since the sound a real cymbal produces is not quite pure noise – but also not really harmonic.
Still, a couple classic drum machines like the Roland TR-606 and TR-808 took their best shot at it, with quite strange sounding results that I personally really like. So I decided to follow suit and came up with this simple, but very versatile and crunchy sounding DIY hi-hat circuit."

"Welcome to another non - Bad Gear episode. I built ReBirth for real and this happened. Propellerhead Rebirth RB-338, the iconic 90s music production software and virtual groovebox was my first electronic musical instrument. Since then I had the dream of reconstructing the classic setup consisting of a Roland TR-808, a Roland TR-909, two Roland TB-303 and specific set of effects. Can we recreate the software workflow, are the famous vintage instruments as great as anybody is telling you and is all this worth the hassle?
