Mellotronics Streetlytron Pro : Space Oddity

Mellotronics Streetlytron Pro : Space Oddity from Ramones Karaoke on Vimeo.

"Inspired by seeing Rick Wakeman actually play the Mellotron part on TV this week - that bloke is funny - I figured I had to have one more shot at 'Wakeman Replacement'. So, grabbing the stems of Space Oddity from the 40th anniversary release EP, and streaming some MIDI wirelessly at my iPad from my Mac, I got this result. Pretty authentic, although I'm not entirely convinced that these chords and inversions are right - Rick's hands seemed lower down the keyboard when he was bashing through it on telly.

Heck, where's Wakeman when you need him?"

MATRIXSYNTH gets a mention at 10:05. :)

I remember the early days of Jexus, aka WC Olo Garb - click through for a history of WC Olo Garb posts on MATRIXSYNTH - you can scroll down through the years back to the first post back on 9/18/2005 - he also went by polaranta on Flickr. In the beginning there were synth pics followed by the videos. For all posts mentioning "Jexus" click here. He had and continues to have quite an influence on others in the synth community.

You can find some synth patches from Jexus, spotted by Soviet Space Child here: http://jexus.id.uw.edu.pl/WCOG_Synth_Patches/

CRITTER & GUITARI ORGANELLE + OTO MACHINES BAM ~ Will They Pair? Ep.10

Published on Mar 8, 2017 once upon a synth

"Pairing the Critter and Guitar Organelle synthesizer/sampler with the OTO Machine BAM Space Generator reverb effects unit. I use a combination of synthesizers, samplers and drums on the organelle. The organelle is basically a small computer running Pure Data so you can fully customize the patches. In this video I only use the standard patches."

KORG MONOLOGUE + OTO MACHINES BAM ~ Will They Pair? Ep.09

Published on Feb 27, 2017 once upon a synth

"Pairing the Korg Monologue monophonic analog synthesizer with the OTO Machine BAM Space Generator reverb effects unit. The monologue tends to lean towards acid techno but with enough tweaking it's possible to get some atmospheric sounds as well especially given the big reverbs of the BAM."

MFB TANZMAUS + OTO MACHINES BAM ~ Will They Pair? Ep.08

Published on Feb 20, 2017 once upon a synth

"Pairing the MFB Tanzmaus hybrid analog/digital drum machine with the OTO Machine BAM Space Generator reverb effects unit. I use a couple of different patterns on the Tanzmaus and spend most of the time tweaking the BAM. There's a nice old school techno vibe with these two."

midierror Fundraising for Youth Music with new EP

midierror who has been featured here on MATRIXSYNTH numerous times, has a new fundraiser EP out to benefit Youth Music. The following are some details on the project:

"midierror has been going without alcohol for the whole of 2016 in order to raise money for Youth Music, who fund valuable workshops with youngsters who would otherwise have no access to musical expression. From organising, running and evaluating music workshops - he cannot emphasise enough the incredible impact that these music sessions can have on young peoples lives.

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/midi-error

But he has raised a pitiful amount of money so far! So he decided to create an EP featuring four tracks which he's enjoyed making and playing live over the past year. Described as dark and sort of cinematic, he says they loosely based around the idea of the human race moving out into space. Expect to hear some electronica, jungle and idm..BUT if those aren’t to your taste there is a secret, more poppy bonus track for people the rest of you!

https://midierror.bandcamp.com/

The EP has four tracks and a bonus chemical brothers cover, with Emma Harrop on vocals. Please name your own price (above £2), and give generously!"

2. Journey to the Edge of the Universe - Ep. 1 - Leaving the Earth

"Journey to the Edge of the Universe - Ep. 1 - Leaving the Earth is a new weekly series of live studio recordings. Welcome aboard and let's start this Journey!

Using: Virus Ti2 in multimode (2 pads, 2 arps), OP-1 - pad, Eurorack mix: bass and FX, Circuit - drums, Radias - bass."

3. Journey to the Edge of the Universe - Ep. 2 - New Horizons

"Earth remains behind the Spaceship. It becomes smaller and smaller. New worlds, new horizons are waiting for us, the Space Pioneers... 4. Journey to the Edge of the Universe - Ep. 3 - A Lost Transmission

"You may know that saying with the Universe conspiring so the things to be as they're meant to be! The Planets lined up with this Episode, since my camera didn't want to record more than a few seconds and stopped (and I didn't noticed this), matching perfectly with the title of this Episode 3: A Lost Transmission!
This Episode starts with Yamaha Motif XS6, the workstation of a friend and most of the sounds you hear in the first part, are from it, sampled in Ableton. Part two continues with my usual gear plus Promars System-1 plug-out (seq), Arturia iSEM (bass seq) and Animoog (lead).

We're far away from Earth and some interferences, as you may see, are blocking our comunication to the Earth. Hoping that next days we'll be able to re-establish the connection! But, who knows... There are some clues that a mysterious ship is following us..."

5. Journey to the Edge of the Universe - Ep. 4 - Supernovae

"After the communications were re-established, we found out what causes the signal loss: a Supernovae chain effect, two sister stars exploded and generated some cosmic radiations. We are passing now near this area..."

6. Journey to the Edge of the Universe - Ep. 5 - Empty Space

"Featuring: Moog Model 15, Quadnic, Novation Circuit, Virus Ti2, Blofeld, microKorg, Radias, System-1 Promars.
Using a very nice FX patch on Model 15, created by my friend Tony Saunders (the creator of MidiSequencer iPad app)."

7. Journey to the Edge of the Universe - Ep. 6 - Radio Waves

"Coming back from a one week exhausting trip, The Journey to the Edge of the Universe continues with Ep. 6 based on OP-1 - radio, SoundScaper - drone, Quadnic-Braids-Tides-Clouds - drone and sequence, microKorg - lead, Virus Ti2 - pads, Circuit - drumbs, bass, sequence."
