video upload by NovationTV

"Our second video in our @Trovarsi Connects series, featuring Circuit Track with Eurorack.

The Bass and Lead synth voices are coming from the Circuit Tracks and the textured voice is coming from the Nanobox. The drums are a combination of percussive elements from the four drum channels on the Circuit Tracks and the 6Mod6 eurorack module.

Both the audio from the Nanobox and the 6Mod6 are routed through the two audio inputs on Circuit Tracks, and are being sequenced by Tracks using the two separate MIDI tracks."

Artist Picks: Best Music Gear of 2023 Part 2

video upload by Perfect Circuit

Part 1 here

"2023 is soon drawing to a close—so, we're taking a look back at the year, and taking account of all of the weird and wonderful instruments that gave us some inspiration this year. Synthesizers, drum machines, and Eurorack modules to samplers and effects, this year had no shortage of inspiring instruments.

So, we reached out to some of our friends and content creators to fill us in on their year, asking one simple question: what was the coolest piece of gear you got this year? For some, that meant brand new releases, but for others, it meant sitting down and digging into classic instruments.

In this video, we hear from:
00:00 Red Means Recording on the Elektron Syntakt
01:07 Midlife Synthesist on the Akai MPC X SE
03:20 DivKid on the Intellijel Cascadia
06:30 Jorb on the Roland S1
09:13 Bo Beats on the Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field
12:45 Trovarsi on the Anti-Kulture Precision Disruptor

Read more about all of this gear on our blog, Signal: https://bit.ly/3MEhpfE"

Late Night Eurorack Patching and Jamming! (No Talking)

video upload by Electronisounds Audio

"Just Patching for fun. No Talking.
Thanks for listening! :) :)

#eurorack #livejam #prizmprime

Patch Notes:
Drums: Samples from Tip Top Audio "One" modules and "Prok" 12bit FM drum modules.

The Erica Synths "Black Sequencer" allows me to create RANDOM melodies in real-time and save them to new pattern slots, so I can create new basslines LIVE and then go back and forth between them.

The bass voice: Mazzatron VCDCO / WMD Javelin Envelope / WMD Carbon Filter.

The MAIN filtered chord stab/sequence is a chord coming from Mutable Instruments Braids, running through the Patching Panda Moon Phase Filter and then into the Erica Synths Acid Box III desktop filter, then into the Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio Reverb!

The Second Chord Stab is coming from the Qubit "Chords" module.

The ever-changing-magic-ride-cymbals are my own custom ride samples, loaded into a Tip Top audio "One" sample module - I can easily roll the pitch, and change ride samples in the fly with knobs.

After about 45minutes, I'm all warmed up and jamming my ass off! WOOT!!

This session was a blast!
I think this is the best I have ever done when starting from almost nothing and just GOING FOR IT!
I'm really learning how to work my system a lot better after watching TROVARSI last weekend!

0:00 Getting started and patching up
15:22 Starting to JAM with the session (still patching...)
37:06 Jamming, Dean-Style!"

Learning Modular Conversations with guest host Todd Barton

video upload by Learning Modular

"This is the replay of the September 2021 "ask me anything" Zoom session for Patreon subscribers of Learning Modular (https://www.patreon.com/LearningModular). In this second session, Todd Barton (https://toddbarton.com) was asking questions of Chris Meyer of Learning Modular, and moderating questions from the live attendees covering modular synthesis composition, performances, and systems. Subscribers to Todd's Patreon channel (https://www.patreon.com/) were also invited.

If you would like the opportunity to view these sessions live and ask your own questions, subscribe to Learning Modular on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/LearningModular). The August host was Trovarsi, and the October host was Kim Bjørn, with two more sessions planned to fill out 2021. Your response to these replays will determine if we continue them in 2022.

Here is an index to the subjects discussed in this session:

00:00 Introduction
01:33 What is the meaning of life? (Yes, Todd actually asked Chris that, and yes, Chris answered)
02:07 How does Chris not get overwhelmed when approaching The Monster to create a piece of music?
04:43 How does Chris know what he wants to compose?
06:28 Is there a narrative or structure to Chris’ work, or does he create free-form?
08:43 Thoughts from Chris and Todd on compositional “forms” for electronic music
15:47 When to ignore the 'rules'; when to lean on them
19:17 When to introduce a change in the music
23:50 Patching for evolution
28:03 Chris’ lighting during recent music videos
31:22 How much of a performance is written out versus improvised?
35:55 Editing improvisations down to tracks for an album
39:12 How do you organize it when more than one person is improvising together?
42:20 What is coming up for both of us?
45:00 Using synths as individual instruments versus cross-pollinating them
51:20 Todd on the new Buchla Music Easel
54:56 Patching 'from zero' versus pre-patching
56:26 Chris on color-coding patch cables
57:43 Creating the patch symbol language for Patch & Tweak
01:01:18 Serge Tcherepnin’s approach to creating synthesizers

ALM Busy Circuits System Coupe Hybrid Ableton Live Jam & Patch Walkthrough

Perfect Circuit

"The ALM Busy Circuits System Coupe is an 84HP system with an 8 channel sampler (Squid Salmple), digital VCO (MCO) and an analog multimode filter (MCF). The system has a quad VCA/mixer (Tangle Quartet) and a module that lets you use and effects pedal as an effect in your modular (Milton). For sequencing and modulation there is the function generator (Quaid Megaslope) and clock divider (Pam’s New Workout). You can also sequence it with midi with the mmmidi and mmT expander. The System Coupe also comes with all of the cables and everything you need to start playing modular.

In this video we used the System Coupe in a hybrid setup with Ableton Live, some of the sounds like the kick drum come from a VST running in Ableton, the Coupe is used to add percussion and vocal samples as well as a synth line. The Milton module also made it possible to easily use an effects pedal with the system. It is also possible to use the System Coupe without an external midi sequencer as you can trigger your drums with the Pam’s New Workout and use the Quaid Megaslope as a pitch sequencer.

System Coupe available here: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/alm-sy...

The sample pack by Trovarsi we used in the video is available here: https://www.trovarsiofficial.com/samp..."

Learning Session Feat. NEW Modules FIRE & TAKT, by FLAME!

video upload by Trovarsi

Listen in stereo but be careful with your volume levels. Voice on left channel and drums/percusision audio on right.

"These FLAME Modules were announced at Superbooth 2023! Some of my favorite finds. We'll spend some time exploring them. This will probably be a small series because there are a few others that really jumped out for me as well.

Module Description:
'FIRE' is a full blown 8 track drum & percussion synth, also capable of much more than just drums.

'TAKT' is a compact 30HP Eurorack sequencer module for playing or programming trigger/gate/velocity rhythm sequences."

See this post for a demo at SUPERBOOTH23.
