[patch] Shepard Tone (Blofeld)

video upload by Synthesizer Video Service

"In this tutorial, I'm showing how to program the Shepard Tone on a Waldorf Blofeld synthesizer. The Shepard Tone is an effect that gives you the impression of an infinitely rising or falling sound. This is a good example for careful and delicate choice of parameters during the sound design process.

Attention! I'm sorry, I forgot to set oscillator 2 to 16'' :(

Waldorf M - 21 Custom Patches - No Talking

video upload by GEOSynths

"Get the Patches by joining my Patreon (2nd Tier) - https://www.patreon.com/GEOSynths

I only had the Waldorf M for a short time, as it was sent to me by the Distributor to try out and do a Review, so sadly I didn’t have the time to do a “Full Bank”, however as part of the “getting to know” the Waldorf M, I created 20 Patches, plus another that I made in my Review Video.

As well as the Patches, I made FX Presets for each using 2 Plug-Ins which are free and all you do is insert the Chorus first, then the Delay/Reverb in the next insert. All the levels are done.

1 - Bluecat Audio Chorus
2 - Valhalla Supermassive"

Waldorf M - GEOSynths Review & Sound Design.

video upload by GEOSynths

"I've been sent the Waldorf M to try out for a few weeks and thought I'd do a little Review, more of an overview really and some Sound Design, showing how the different sections work together in practice when making a Patch.

I've used 2 FX Plug-Ins as there are none built in, however they are just simple Chorus & Delay/Verb. It's a cool Synth, very good build quality and has lots of features to play with, especially the the Digital Filters and the Envelopes.

I didn't cover everything as I ran out of time, however I've covered quite a lot and anything that i haven't, well, there are other Videos out there which have."

[patch] FM Bass (Blofeld)

video upload by Synthesizer Video Service

"I had this idea after listening to Jarre's "Zoolookologie". This is a little tutorial on how to make a piercing bass sound using frequency modulation with audio oscillators - all this with a Waldorf Blofeld. Plus, I'm explaining the difference between frequency, amplitude and phase modulation. Plus, talking about mixing with low frequencies.

Waldorf Q 7-zone Multi

video upload by wedream2

"All sounds are played in real time from the Waldorf Q. Five zones are mapped to the Q keybed, and 2 additional zones are played remotely from the lower keyboard through midi. The addition of a second keybed significantly expands the Q's Multi programming. Zones can be played "local" from the Q keybed, "midi" from a remote controller, or "local + midi" from both. Of course, additional sounds from the second keyboard can be layered as well, but I'm using the D70 only to trigger the additional Q zones through midi."

Diatonic 〽️ (Waldorf M 1.08 // MAM Adx1 // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"The Waldorf M just got a very nice update (v1.08) and it was a good reason to celebrate with a new video of the M in multi-mode, sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro.
My good old buddy the Music And More (MAM) ADX1 5-voice analog drum machine was also taken out for this special occasion to take care of the beat!
Recorded in one shot.

The 8-voices of the M can be limiting when the synth is used in the multi-timbral mode (4 parts), but hey, the creation of this channel was based on the concept of making music in a constrained environment, so it was a nice challenge again 😅

* Hardware used *

- ALL SYNTH parts : Waldorf M
- Output 1: PLUCK riff + Eventide H9 (Diatonic)
- Output 2: PADS + Darkglass Microtubes X (Distortion) + Walrus Audio Julianna (Chorus, Vibrato) + Strymon Bigsky (Reverb) + Pill Pedal (Ducking, triggered by the Keystep Pro kick's gate output)
- Output 3: CHIMES melody + Red Panda Particle 2 (Granular delay) + Death By Audio Rooms (Reverb)

- DRUMS : Music And More ADX1

- All synth & drum parts sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro"

micro wavepatterns [Busy Circuits ASQ-1 & System J Transcendant Filter]

video upload by zack dagoba

"This is my first experiment with the Busy Circuits ASQ-1

I'm using it in quantizer mode and sending it voltages from the 2 182 sequencers. It works by quantising any incoming voltage to whatever notes you select on the keyboard. Cool effect!

Also in the patch is the System J Transcendant Filter - lovely sounding m-m filter!! Thanks to James at System J for sending it to me ❤️❤️❤️

The other interesting thing about this patch is that I'm using a Kenton CV to MIDI converter so I can tigger any midi synth from the euro-rack rig. Neato!

In this case I'm triggering the Waldorf Microwave 2 made in the mid 1990s

Bye for now!"

---

Note this is the first post to feature System J and the Transcendent Filter. The following is some info via the System J website. You can find additional posts on the Busy Circuits ASQ-1 here.

"After recently designing some custom circuits for a client I've decided to make a few of them available as limited run eurorack modules - the first of these is the Transcendent VCF. Modules are custom built using mostly NOS through hole components in keeping with the original circuits and style. Panel is screen printed anodised black aluminium. This module is fairly deep at 67mm so please make sure that it will fit in your modular case. Limited run of 20 production units only. Available from June 25th. Demo clips coming soon...
if you are outside the U.K please select International Tracked & Signed shipping option during the checkout process.
Module Details:
The Transcendent VCF takes its inspiration from the classic British mono synth of the 1970s and, while not a direct clone, it brings the distinctive and unique character of that well-loved machine to the eurorack world.

The filter is a 2 pole, 12db/oct design with selectable low pass and band pass response. The resonance behaviour is quirky and unpredictable and is key to the unique sound of the Transcendent - as you advance the resonance control there are many sweet spots to explore, from subtle harmonics to howling resonant peaks.
At high resonance levels the filter will self oscillate and can be utilised as a sine wave oscillator.
CV1 input is scaled for a v/oct response and can be used for key follow effects as well as standard modulation. It has its own attenuator.
CV2 input has a wider range and is suitable for deeper modulation duties - from an LFO or envelope generator for example. It also has its own attenuator.
Two audio signal inputs are available, both with dedicated attenuators.
The final output also features a level control.

Specifications:
Width: 16hp
Depth: 67mm
Current draw: +12v 20ma, -12v 20ma
Frequency: <8hz - 18khz"

Waldorf M vs Microwave 1 PPG 2.3 Presets

video upload by synthlegends

"In my last video [posted here] I compared some PPG 2.3 factory sounds reprogrammed from Wolfram Franke for the Waldorf Microwave 1. In this video I demonstrate those Microwave 1 PPG 2.3 presets in comparison to the Waldorf M. The Team from Waldorf reprogrammed all those sounds from the PPG 2.3 card, which was originally made by Wolfram Franke. I think they did a great job. Some sounds I skipped, because they did not match at all. I think it is not due to the synth, it is just a programming matter, like different modulation, envelopes and wavetable envelope. So finally here are the results of the sounds in comparison. No musical video at all, but just to demonstrate, how close can the Waldorf M sound to the Microwave 1. I this video I used the version B, with a bit of a different filter type to version A. The M uses SSM filter clones, like in the PPG. I tweaked a bit around and I recognized, that the resonance from the M Filter thins a bit out but screams more like on the Microwave. It has much more in common to the PPG Filter. So the M shall come closer to the PPG than the Microwave 1. I think that the M is a bit more comfortably sounding, the Microwave sounds a bit more aggressive and "vintage" also. But the differences are very subtle and I think that Waldorf did a great job with the M to recreate the classic Microwave. Thanks for watching and listening as allways."

Clean-Up Raves in Ukraine

This one is in via Loscha, who spotted it on ABC News Australia. Click through for some video.

Left: The DJs play techno music as volunteers continue clean-up efforts. (Reuters: Viacheslav Ratynskyi ) - Note the Waldorf Blofeld, M-Audio keyboard controller, and what appears to be a Lumatone keyboard with accordian style keys.

"Buildings destroyed by Russian invasion become 'clean-up raves' for volunteers missing Ukraine's techno festivals

A bombed-out building in northern Ukraine has been turned into a rave for more than 200 people just months after the region was devastated by the Russian invasion.

The daytime 'clean-up rave' was organised by young Ukrainians who have been using dance parties to aid the recovery effort.

'Techno parties, especially rave festivals, it was our lifestyle before, when we met with friends and spent time," one of the group's organisers said.

'Last summer, every weekend festivals (were) here in Ukraine, in Kyiv.

'So, we miss it and we want to come back to normal life but our normal life now is volunteering.'

Shovels in hand, the volunteers tossed piles of debris into the loader of a tractor from the remnants of the centre, which was destroyed by a rocket strike in March.

Ukraine's vibrant club scene was brought to an abrupt halt with the Russian invasion on February 24.

A night-time curfew in the capital Kyiv forced lovers of Ukraine's party culture to combine the fun and freedom of a festival with rebuilding their homes.

Most of the Yahidne volunteers, primarily in their 20s and 30s, came from Kyiv, about two hours' drive away.

Others have come from the western city of Lviv and nearby Chernihiv, while some foreign volunteers have arrived from Portugal, the United States, Germany and elsewhere.

The clean-up was the group's eighth event so far, restoring the centre and 15 homes in the village."

Rob Papen - Signature Sounds for Waldorf M (Sounddemo)

video upload by WaldorfMusicChannel

"Rob Papen is a well-known sound designer from the Netherlands and many of his sounds and plug-ins have become legendary. Back in the 90s, he supplied several sound sets for the Microwave 1, which just saw the light of day. His 'Techno' and 'Signature' cards inspired many users and can therefore be heard on countless productions of the 90s. The two sound sets have been freshly reworked by Rob Papen and optimized on the M.

Both sets have been combined into one soundbank. The current signature set contains 128 patches and offers different lead sounds, basses, percussive sequencer sounds, pads, plugs and much more.

For external effects, the two FX plugins Delsane and RPVERB2 by Rob Papen were used. If you purchase the soundset you can get a discount on the two plugins. Please send a proof of purchase to : info@robpapen.com"
