"The Pill is the first of its kind Ducking Effect Pedal. It brings a music production effect to the live stage.
All it does is ducking. It's its core purpose. Analog, true bypass and handmade in Europe. It's made by a musician, for musicians.
Release. Depth. Trigger. No need for more.
Release: Sets the duration of the ducking. From short to long.
Depth: Sets the ducking volume level. From subtle to complete silence.
Trigger: Sets the sensibility (gain) of the trigger input. Quickly adjusted to fit the input source."
"WIth this 2nd video featuring the Roland JD-08 synth, I wanted to make a more cinematic-like jam! The Keystep Pro is sequencing both synths featured here: the JD-08 (128-voice, 2-part digital synth) and the JU-06A (4-voice digital synth, modelling the analog JUNO-60 and JUNO-106).
The JD-08 is going through the Pill Pedal (ducking pedal) which is being triggered by a sequence coming from Track1 (Keystep Pro).
In order to add some movement to the JD-08, I'm also playing live with its "PITCH FINE" parameter on the transitions. On the outro, I also enabled the "famous" distortion of the JD-08 on its PAD sound π
* Hardware used *
- Roland JD-08 + Pille Pedal : Pluck sequence & Pads
- Roland JU-06A : Bass
- Arturia Keystep Pro: sequencer"
"For the 94th 2-Minute video (actually it will rather be "2 x 2-Minute" π), we are going for a an uplifting "melodic techno" jam, featuring the Roland JU-06A (synth chords), J-6 (synth chords), TR-6S (drums) ; Erica Synths DB-01 (Bass) ; Arturia Keystep Pro for the sequencing and live transposing parts!
The jams begins with the JU-06A playing a pattern sequenced by the Keystep Pro, where I play with the LFO rate modulating the PWM, allowing to transpose the the riff.
At last the J-6 is being introduced to play some plucky chords: the simple chords have been sequenced on the Keystep Pro, however I used the "Arp/Rhythmic phrase" feature of the synth to make them syncopate.
* Hardware used * - Roland TR-6S: drums - Roland JU-06A + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S) : synth chords - Roland J-6: synth chords - Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline: bass - Arturia Keystep Pro: sequencer"
"I used 3 instruments with their internal sequencers for this electro / synthwave jam π
CHIMES: The 15-step chimes sequence is being played by the Korg Minilogue XD, hybrid (analog/digital) synth. I also used the Rerun SDK plugin from Sinevibes in order to add some random glitches on the sound.
BASS: The bass is being played by the Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline analog mono synth. I programmed a few patterns with different notes/feel. I also used the 'Accent' feature to make the sequences groove more (it can easily be heard on the intro).
DRUMS / ACID RIFF: The drums are coming from the Kord Drumlogue hybrid drum machine. It was also the opportunity to use its individual outputs (the little volume knobs don't work when using these outputs... really wish there was an easy way to fix this as the outputs are too hot for guitar pedals π).
The last acid-like sequence is from the Nano synth of the Drumlogue, going through the Darkglass Microtubes X (analog distortion) + Dreadbox Lethargy (analog phaser).
The DB-01 and Drumlogue Nano synth are both being ducked by the Pill Pedal (triggered by the 4 to the floor pattern of the Drumlogue).
* Hardware used *
- Korg Drumlogue: analog and digital drums, Nano synth (through Microtubes X distortion, Lethargy phaser and Pill ducking pedal).
- Korg Minilogue XD (+ Sinevibes Rerun): chimes
- Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline: bass"
"Wishing you a happy New Year for 2023 ! May it be filled with music πΆ, peace π️ and loveπ!
After experimenting during the last month of 2022 by publishing 7 'Shorts' let's start 2023 with a more than 2-minute video in order to compensate a bit this special month of December π
So for this one, only the Vermona Perfourmer was used for the synth parts (Bass, Arp & Pads) and MFB Tanzbar for the drum parts, with both instruments sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro.
* Hardware used *
- SYNTH: Vermona Perfourmer
- BASS (Voice1) Dry
- ARP (Voice2) + Dreadbox Lethargy (Analog Phaser) + Eventide H9 Max (Vintage Delay engine)
- PADS (Voices3&4) + Red Panda Particle 2 (Granular Delay / Pitch Shifting Pedal) + Strymon Bigsky (Reverb) + Pill (ducking pedal, triggered by the kick from Tanzbar)
- DRUMS: MFB Tanzbar
- SEQUENCER: Arturia Keystep Pro"
"If you've already watched a some of my videos, you might know that I sometimes like to divert a few electronic instruments from their use π
So here the challenge was to make the LXR-02 (which is supposed to be mainly a digital drum synth) act as a drum machine & a polyphonic pads synth π
For this, I used the Conductive Labs NDLR sequencer with its polychain feature (on its PAD track) which can turn up to 4 mono synths into a 4-voice polyphonic synth.
(I used this feature on another video, this time with 4 physical analog mono synths: [below]).
Therefore I used 3 of the tracks of the LXR-02 to play 3-note chords by the NDLR. I used the LXR's individual output, through the Strymon Bigsky reverb for the PADS (through the Pill ducking pedal being triggered by the LXR's drum kick).
I also used 1 track of the LXR-02 to play the ARP part (also sequenced by the NDLR). This time the individual output went through the Strymon Timeline delay.
The Erica Synths DB-01 was used to play the bass riff (still sequenced by the NDLR) through the Eventide - H9 pedal (with some heavy modulated Chorus bringing a Lo-Fi vibe to the sound!).
* Hardware used *
- BASS : Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline + Eventide H9 (Chorus)
- DRUMS : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 (individual output 1+2)
- PADS : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 + Strymon Bigsky + Pill Pedal (individual output 3)
- RIFF : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 + Strymon Timeline (individual output 4)
- LIVE SEQUENCING : Conductive Labs NDLR"
"I wanted to use a couple of the nice features of the NDLR for this video, so I went to set up 6 analog mono synths all sequenced by the NDLR, a couple of effects and the Tanzbar drum machine for this video!
The first feature used here is poly chaining, where 1 track (PAD track) of the NDLR sent 4-note chords to 4 mono synths (Erica Synths - DB01, Make Noise - 0Coast, Roland - SE02 and Novation - Circuit Mono Station), considering them as a unique 4-voice polyphonic synth!
I needed to make some quite complex routing in order to be able to side chain the pads with the kick of the MFB - Tanzbar analog drum machine.
I also used the 'chord sequencer' of the NDLR in order to play the whole track as a song (it's like a song mode, where sequences automatically change the global chords).
Here are some further details on the setup:
* PAD: DB01 to SE02 to Bigsky (Right Input) to The Pill Pedal (Input 1) triggered by Tanzbar's kick
* PAD: 0Coast to Circuit Mono Station to Bigsky (Left Input) to The Pill Pedal (Input 2) triggered by Tanzbar's kick
These 4 analog synths were set up in order to respond to the poly chain function of the NDLR (i.e. With a 4-note chord, the NDLR will send each note to one the 4 synths).
* DRONE (Bass): The Moog - Minitaur was being triggered by the DRONE track for the bass.
* MOTIF (Melody): The Arturia - Minibrute 1, through the ZVEX - Instant Lofi Junky & Strymon - Timeline
I forgot to mention that the TanzbΓ€r's main output was processed by the Eventide - H9 (Reverse Delay) effect, excluding its kick which was outputted on its separate output in order to trigger the side chain for the pads on the Pill Pedal."
"The Waldorf M just got a very nice update (v1.08) and it was a good reason to celebrate with a new video of the M in multi-mode, sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro. My good old buddy the Music And More (MAM) ADX1 5-voice analog drum machine was also taken out for this special occasion to take care of the beat! Recorded in one shot.
The 8-voices of the M can be limiting when the synth is used in the multi-timbral mode (4 parts), but hey, the creation of this channel was based on the concept of making music in a constrained environment, so it was a nice challenge again π
* Hardware used *
- ALL SYNTH parts : Waldorf M - Output 1: PLUCK riff + Eventide H9 (Diatonic) - Output 2: PADS + Darkglass Microtubes X (Distortion) + Walrus Audio Julianna (Chorus, Vibrato) + Strymon Bigsky (Reverb) + Pill Pedal (Ducking, triggered by the Keystep Pro kick's gate output) - Output 3: CHIMES melody + Red Panda Particle 2 (Granular delay) + Death By Audio Rooms (Reverb)
- DRUMS : Music And More ADX1
- All synth & drum parts sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro"
"All the sequences/patterns/drums were recorded live in one shot. The main sequencer is the Arturia Keystep Pro (its 4 tracks were used to sequence the Vermona Perfourmer and Waldorf Streichfett).
"The set consists of 3 tracks already published on the channel (035- Kaoss ; 021- Black Box | Part 1 ; 065- 909) and 2 semi-improvised new tracks (actually built around 2 different patterns sleeping on my Digitone).
* Hardware used *
- DRUMS : Roland TR-6S
- BASS : Roland SE-02 + Pill Pedal (Input 1) + Death by Audio Apocalypse & Rooms
- PADS : Dreadbox Nymphes + Pill Pedal (Input 2) + Zvex Instant Lo-Fi Junky + Eventide H9
- Elektron Digitone + Korg KP3+ Kaoss Pad + Red Panda Particle 2
"Here is my latest track featuring the inspiring NDLR 4-track sequencer, trying to do something more uptempo this time (the NDLR really excels at doing ambient tracks, but can it be used for some more 'techno' tracks? π€ Hope we'll get an answer thanks to your comments π)
I used 4 analog tracks for this jam (Nymphes, DB01, 0Coast and SE02), sequenced by the Conductive Labs NDLR sequencer. The drums were sequenced and played by the Roland TR6S 'rhythm performer' (where I used mainly the Analog Circuit Behavior and FM engines). Recorded in one take.
* Hardware used *
- PADS: Dreadbox Nymphes + Zvex Instant LoFi Junky + Strymon Bigsky + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S)
- BASS: Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline
- MOTIF-1: Make Noise 0-Coast + Strymon Timeline (Delay) + Red Panda Particle 2 (Granular Delay)
- MOTIF-2: Roland SE-02
- DRUMS: Roland TR-6S
- Sequencer: Conductive Labs - NDLR (sequencing all 4 synths)"
"The Conductive Labs - NDLR sequencer is back on duty again with this jam, quite in the synthwave spirit, especially thanks to the drums from the Roland - TR-6S π
* Hardware used *
- PADS: Dreadbox Nymphes + Zvex Instant LoFi Junky + Strymon Bigsky + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S)
- CHIMES: Make Noise 0-Coast + Eventide H9 (Reverse) + Strymon Timeline (Delay)
- BASS: Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline
- DRUMS: Roland TR-6S
- Sequencer: Conductive Labs - NDLR (sequencing all 3 synths)"
"I must admit that I don't tend to use the classic TR-909 sounds a lot π But for this time, the Roland - TR-6S had to do the job! So I used a TR-909 kit its the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (no samples from the TR-909 here). The result (the ACB technology from Roland is quite stunning and can really do the job!).
So I had a little help from my friends, one on my left taking care of the drum machine (fading in the sounds, fills, effects etc.), and on my left playing a bell sound on the Korg - Minilogue XD, layered by the a choir-like sound from the 6-voice analog polyphonic Dreadox - Nymphes!
"There are not enough synths/sequencers offering the chord memory function (i.e. memorizing chords and then playing them back with 1 note only) within a scale! As the ASM - Hydrasynth benefits from this feature, I used it to create this track π
I then added some FM sequences played by the Elektron - Digitone, a fat analog bass played by the Dreadbox - Nymphes (through the Julianna Chorus/Vibrato pedal) and finally drums/FX by the Roland TR-6S (the kick sound is not a sample, but uses the ACB engine to emulate the 909's kick!)
* Hardware used * - PADS: Asm - Hydrasynth Explorer - BELLS, CHIMES: Elektron - Digitone - BASS: Dreadbox - Nymphes + Walrus Audio - Julianna + The Pill Pedal (triggered byt the TR6S' headphones output) - DRUMS, FX: Roland - TR-6S Everything was sequenced by my DAW, except for the DRUMS & FX which were sequenced by the TR6S' internal sequencer & I also used the Digitone's sequencer to do some parameter-lock."
"Can the sparkling digital vibes of the Elektron - Digitone form a nice pair with the fat analog sound of the Dreadbox - Nymphes? I made this track recorded in one shot, trying to get an answer! I'll be glad to have your point of view π
The 4 synth tracks of the Digitone were used here to play: - T1: FM Drums - T2: Chimes - T3: Fast arpeggiated chimes - T4: Lead bells (played live)
I also used 3 out of the 4 MIDI tracks of the Digitone to sequence the Nymphes 6-voice polyphonic analog synth. Each MIDI track played a different part (but with the same sound as the Nymphes is not multi-timbral): - MIDI1: Bass - MIDI2: Lead - MIDI3: Riff (triggered by the FILL button of the Digitone)
I also make quite heavy use of the probability feature of the Digitone's sequencer in order to add some variations on the unique pattern which was used.
* Hardware used * - Elektron - Digitone: Drums, Chimes, sequencer. - Dreadbox - Nymphes: Bass, Lead, Riff. - Walrus Audio - Julianna: Stereo Analog Chorus/Vibrato pedal, adding this wide stereo effect on the Nymphes π - The Pill Pedal: Ducking the Nymphes, triggered by the phones' output of the Digitone (set it up in order that mainly the kick is triggering the effect)."
* Hardware used * - Waldorf - M with the following effects for the: - BASS: Elektron - Analog Heat Mk2 + Strymon - Bigsky - PADS: Death by Audio - Rooms + The Pill Pedal - CARILLON: Strymon - Timeline - LEAD: Walrus Audio - Julianna + Eventide H9 Max"
Waves | Ambient Live Impro (Waldorf M + Death By Audio Rooms) Wavetable Multi-timbral #Jamuary2022
"Just wanted to capture and share with you the first hours I just spent discovering a new synth, the Waldorf M, 8-voice hybrid synthesizer! It's a quick live ambient jam tweaking some parameters. This synth is just π
I haven't read the manual yet, but managed to use the Multitimbral mode with 4 parts. Parts 2, 3 & 4 are being played by my left hand and Part 1 (arpeggio) by my right hand.
On the first part of the track, you are hearing the raw sound of the synth (without effects) and then I added some reverb with the Death by Audio Rooms pedal.
* Hardware used *
- Waldorf - M
- Death By Audio - Rooms (reverb pedal, on the second half of the track)"
