DreamsOfWires - Moog Minitaur (with Minifooger delay)

Published on May 18, 2015 DreamsOfWires

"Just messing about, but I wanted to sweep through some of the sounds I like best from the Minitaur, and see how well it pairs up with the Minifooger analog delay, without any reverb.
No additional effects were used, and it was recorded into an Olympus portable audio recorder. Genome (sequencer) on the iPad is supplying the pattern to the Minitaur."

Pyramid's Euclidean Rhythms Meet Novation Circuit

Published on Jan 11, 2017 John Keston

"In the spirit of #JAMUARY2017 (thanks to Cuckoo for having the stamina to do it everyday!) I have made a video track using the Squarp Pyramid, Novation Circuit, Moog Sub 37, PreenFM2, Rhodes, Minifooger Delay, and Korg KP3+. I’m not great at making these (hence the shaky video), but they’re fun to do every so often.

Euclidean patterns drive each of the four Circuit drum parts through individual tracks on the Pyramid. I have it setup with four Euclidean patterns per track bank for a total of sixteen. This way I can mix and match all sixteen patterns on the Pyramid and even swap them or combine them with patterns on the Circuit.

"We explore sounds using 2 X Moog Mother 32's going into a TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb and Moog MiniFooger Delay. The melodies are being played from the Mother 32 sequencer and we tweak the sounds in realtime.

NOTE: The incredibly rich harmonics and frequencies that this synth produces requires good quality studio monitors or headphones to fully experience, and please use the 'HD' version on YouTube for best results."

Moog Receives Outstanding Technical Achievement Award at 31st Annual TEC Awards

"Moog Receives Outstanding Technical Achievement Award for its Modular Recreation at 31st Annual TEC Awards

Anaheim, Calif. – February 3, 2016 – Moog Music announced that it has won an award for Outstanding Technical Achievement from the NAMM Foundation for its faithful recreation of the Model 15, System 35 and System 55 modular synthesizers. Moog Music CEO and President Mike Adams was on hand to accept the award, which was presented in the Musical Instrument Hardware category at a special recognition ceremony on January 23rd during the 2016 NAMM show.

'It is an immense honor to be recognized with a TEC award for the Modular Recreation,' said Adams. 'The award is a testament to the genius of Bob Moog’s original designs created over 40 years ago, and the hard work our team at Moog Music has put into faithfully recreating these classic instruments.'

Presented by the NAMM Foundation, the TEC Awards celebrate the best in professional audio technology and sound production. TEC award recipients are selected by a panel of respected industry professionals from the audio and creative disciplines. In addition to its win for the Modular Recreation, Moog Music was also nominated in the Musical Instrument Amplification & Effects category for its MF-Chorus and MF-Flange Minifooger analog effects pedals.

Modular Recreation
Following its recreation of the Emerson Moog Modular system last year, Moog began handcrafting three more modular systems starting in January 2015. These Modular Recreations include the System 55, the System 35 and the Model 15 analog synthesizers. Each system matches the original product specifications, manufacturing techniques and processes from the 1970s. Every module is built just as they were in 1973 - by hand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiring methods. Even the front panels are photo-etched aluminum, a classic process rarely used today, to maintain the classic and durable look of vintage Moog modules.

For more information on Moog's modular synthesizers, please visit http://www.moogmusic.com/products/modulars/.

About Moog Music:
Moog Music synthesizers and other electronic musical instruments are designed and lovingly handcrafted in the Moog factory in downtown Asheville, N.C. Moog Music and its customers carry on the legacy of Dr. Robert Moog, inventor of the Moog synthesizer and Founder of Moog Music Inc."

Akai Tom Cat output is going into left in of Korg Kaoss Pad 3 and Korg Volca Bass is going into Moog Minifooger Drive pedal, then into right in of KP3. Headphone out of Tom Cat is going into Digitech Weapon pedal then into the mic in of the KP3, so with the flick of the switch I can go from drum & bass mix to demolished drums. KP3 effect is a phaser & delay. Output of KP3 is going into Mackie Onyx mixer which then feeds into Logic Pro for recording & mixing."

MOTHER-32 | Desert Test Patches

Published on Oct 12, 2015 Moog Music Inc

"PATCHES PERFORMED LIVE - NO OVERDUBS

In June, Moog Music traveled to Arcosanti urban laboratory to take part in FORM, a three day happening curated by Hundred Waters. With three Mother-32 prototypes on-hand, visiting artists Kyle Dixon and M. Geddes Gengras explored the sonic capabilities of the Mother-32 in the alien landscape of Arizona's high desert.

M. Geddes Gengras uses a discrete Mother-32 and Minifooger Analog Delay to experiment with FM applications and LFO modulation routings, while Kyle Dixon integrates a pair of Mother-32s and a duo of Minifooger delays with his personal Eurorack case, using the 4ms QCD to clock each of the Mother's sequencers independently.

Sylvan Esso | H.S.K.T. | MOOG SOUND LAB

Published on Sep 23, 2015 Moog Music Inc

"Sylvan Esso return to the Moog Sound Lab to re-imagine 'H.S.K.T' from their self-titled 2014 release. Using Ableton Live to route MIDI messages to an array of analog synthesizers, Nick Sanborn controls his Minitaur for basslines as well as a tower of Minimoog Voyager Rack Mount Editions to produce H.S.K.T.'s percussive track. Ableton's master MIDI clock locks the arpeggiator tempo of a Moog Sub 37, which all ran through an MF-104M Analog Delay. Vocalist Amelia Meath played a Werkstatt running through the Minifooger Delay, and sang through another MF-104M Analog Delay. Nick then sequenced the whole thing with his Akai APC40. The only prerecorded sound was a loop of of Amelia singing "wanna get" from the original track.

Hitachi Lo-D HMS-30 Memory Synthesizer (1978)

Published on Jul 21, 2015 Patrick McMaster

"I've been trying to track one of these rare units down since I joined the Hitachi family in September 2013. I finally got an alert that one was available on Yahoo! Auctions Japan. I was the one and only bidder, and for ¥20,000 it was mine! The size and weight made regular shipping uneconomical, so I opted for SeaMail. That was just under two months ago, and now here it is being played for the first time!

It's a two oscillator, fully polyphonic synth independent filter cutoff modulation w/LFO (warble) and amplitude modulation w/LFO (tremolo) per oscillator. It has global pitch modulation with a third independent LFO (vibrato), resonance and cutoff frequency knobs per oscillator, limited envelope control on osc 2...nothing terribly crazy in terms of modulation, but fun and more capable of sound shaping then I expected.

The built in preset-only drum machine sounds as cheesy as you would expect for late 70s analog, but the star of the show in terms of extras is a built in sequencer. Now I only need to figure out how the heck it works...

In this video I'm running it through a Moog Minifooger Drive into a Roland keyboard amp."
