Ironclad Delay Casio VL1 & Monotron

Holy Moonlight Crusader

"Inronclad Delay (Casio VL1 & Monotron)

Enjoy this electronic track made with a Casio VL-1 calculator, Korg Monotron Delay, Sonicware Elz_1, Korg Volca Kick, and Korg Volca FM. These tabletop synthesizers are a lot of fun! The Sonicware Fm 8bit synth makes great electronic music, and so do the Korg Volcas. These are the Preacher's hobby, so enjoy some Christian made electronic music. #EDM #8Bit #Chiptune #Ambient #ElectronicMusic #Korg #Volca #KorgVolca #SonicwareELZ1 #Sonicware #Synthwave #Synth #Synthesizer #FMsynthesis #Synthesismusic #CasioVL1 #christianelectronicMusic"

Fact Live: Paranoid London

FACTmagazine

"The third in our new series of live sessions filmed behind closed doors by Fact at 180 The Strand is a cathartic set of raw acid house and techno from Paranoid London, the hardware-heavy project of Quinn Whalley and Gerardo Delgado.

When Paranoid London first emerged in 2007, their music provided a gritty counterpoint to the European minimal sounds and disco edits that proliferated at the time, and their vinyl-only releases gained them underground success at a time when the format was in decline.

In the 13 years since, the project has been host to a rotating cast of guest vocalists, including A Certain Ratio’s Simon Topping, Arthur Baker, Josh Caffe and the late trans activist and DJ, Bubbles Bubblesynski. On this performance they’re joined by regular collaborator Mutado Pintado with visuals by Bob Jaroc.

Classic drum machines and synths such as the Roland TR-808, TR-909 and SH-101 lie at the heart of their setup, with acid lines provided by the Cyclone Analogic TT-303 Bass Bot. Effects come from a host of cheap Korg Monotron Delay units, which slather vocals and synths in a grimy echo.

Paranoid London’s latest album, 2019’s PL, is available now. You can find the rest of their catalogue, including their ongoing series of edits, at Bandcamp."

Jason Basson TAPE LOOPS & the Error Instruments Broken Tape Simulator

TAPE LOOPS 4 Published on May 17, 2020 Jason Basson

"I bought me recently a 'broken tape simulator'-effect of Error Instruments. That gave me the idea to make several tape loop-tapes. I have already made 3 videos of Tape Loops so this is Tape Loops n° 4! :-) This effect is capable to do a lot. Check it out!!"

That's some noise, right there. See here for posts and additional details on Error Instruments Broken Tape Simulator.

GrainBastard - Lockdown Vid 3

Published on Apr 10, 2020 Chris Gilkes

"Warning - The video contains flashing images.

My 3rd video of the lockdown and after seeing all the cool looking synth videos that are all dark with coloured lights blinking away, I thought i would try my own.... it didn’t look that lit due to being a battery powered setup that I’m trialling for use in my campervan, so i put a laser on. It’s still hard to see but it done now.

Anyway, it’s a noisy mix of :-
OP-1
PO-12 thru Korg Monotron
Ipad - Audiobus, Borderlands thru Eventide Blackhole
Korg Volca Sample - Pajen OS
Belkin headphone/passive mixer thing...

Need to get a better mixer solution, might look at the Volca Mix 🤔"

What to expect from KORG's new lab in Berlin

Published on Feb 25, 2020 FACTmagazine

"Tatsuya Takahashi has helped to create some of the best selling synths of the past decade, including KORG’s Volca line, Monotron and Aphex Twin-approved Monologue. This year, he’s embarking on his biggest challenge yet: heading up a Berlin-based subsidiary of KORG alongside E-RM founder Maximilian Rest.

FACT met up with Takahashi and Rest to find out more about KORG Germany and what we can expect from their new instrument lab, what the office might include and what kind of people they’re looking to hire.

To find out more about KORG Germany and to apply for a role at the company, visit https://korg.berlin/."

myVolts #mickXer in action!

Published on Feb 14, 2020 myVolts

"Ghost-trance-surf-pop anyone? 👌

We love ❤️ to see our mickxer in action (5 channel, stereo, noise removal & passive, so no power required). 🤗

Not bad, for $17.99!!✨🌟🤩🌟✨ The OP1 sometimes gives a bit of hum when USB powered, but mickxer removes that noise very sweetly. 👏✨ A great mix of devices, and killer sounds!! 🔊😍👏 Repost @ghostsurfofficial

[Battery Powered EP31] Soundset On The Water Pt2 - Cyloon & Wrong #

Published on Jan 6, 2020 Human Interface

"After a long hiatus Battery Operated is back! This particular jam was from May of 2018 when Daniel (Cyloon) and I (Wrong#) biked out to an island and camped for a few days. We jammed on this cliff as the sun was setting and it was a pretty awesome moment to get lost into. The jam was 33(!) minutes long so we divided it into 3 parts, this being the first. Enjoy!

Gear Notes

Running the Volca FM into the Monotron delay was a sweet combo, the delay could give a real etherial sound, the filter could curb the harshness, and pushing the FM in at high gains disted the input stage making for a nice distortion.

Gearlist: Korg Volca FM, Volca Bass, Monotribe, Monotron, Monotron Delay, Kaoss Pad x 2, Delay Pedal

Waveformer

Published on Jan 18, 2019 Waveformer

Playlist:

1. Monolimp (Monologue, Volca FM, Novation Circuit)
A limping synth jam featuring the Korg Monologue, Volca FM, Novation Circuit and Zoom MS70-CDR.

The Novation Circuit is the master clock, with tempo 90 BPM. The Monologue and the Volca follow suit, but the delays on the MS-70CDRs have tempo set to 75 and 77 BPM, resulting in a limping 5/8-ish time signature.
2. Eclipse (Monologue, Volca FM, Novation Circuit, EHX720, MS-70CDR)
Total eclipse of the moon over Norway tonight. A mellow jam featuring the Korg Monologue, Volca FM, Novation Circuit, EHX720 Looper and Zoom MS70-CDR.

The chords were played into the EHX720 looper note by note from the Monologue. The Circuit is doing arp, base and drums. The Volca FM is doing a simple repeating pattern. And the Monologue is used for the solo.

Korg Volca Jam Session

Published on Dec 13, 2019 Hyperobjeckt Synths

"Playing some cool patterns on the Volca FM, Sample, and Drum. This is a laid back performance, taking it easy to close out 2019 before I start making a bunch of short tracks for #jamuary next month!

Effects are from the Monotron Delay and Zoom MS-70CDR: I'm a huge fan of running the FM through the monotron delay for a lofi drive effect. The Zoom pedal is in the send FX loop for reverb and extra stereo width.

The gear list is minimal compared to what I normally use, trying to demo this setup to see if I could do a live set without any additional synths.

Sounds used on the Volca FM and Volca Drum include patches from http://oscillatorsink.com/ . The Sampler is loaded with vocal one-shots, pads, and percussion from Painkid - Tourism and STRIDER - 100 Samples packs.

This session is of course very dance focused, but I tried to keep it varied with 3/4 time at the end. 13:00 is my favorite part, with the FM arpeggiator set to random and a nice techno rhythm going on the Drum."

Korg Monotron CV Input Mod (Eurorack Control Voltage hack)

Published on Sep 21, 2019 Extralife

"Hello friends! I'm back in California and back in action. First off the hop is a travel kit project to convert CV (control voltage) signals to Monotron-compatible pitch/gate signals. If you have a Monotron (the cheapest analog synth on then market) you can use it to add a complete synth voice to your eurorack system!

The schematics and PCB layout for this project are up on my github page:
https://github.com/matthewcieplak/mon...

This work is partially based on DINSync's 2010 monotron CV mod:

#korgmonotron #korgmonotrondemo KORG Monotron - Benjamin LAZZARUS

Published on Mar 15, 2019 Benjamin LAZZARUS

"This track is only made with sounds coming from the KORG Monotron
Video: 'Chronos' - Ron Fricke"

Yes, the drums as well. via Benjamin LAZZARUS in the comments for the video:

"Yes the drum too, with a little trick for the 'noise' I used the exit breath (which is strong enough on the monotron) to accentuate the highlights, and I cut the same breath of exit to the eighth to get a charley. The clap with the very fast lfo that makes a kind of "fllleu", and the kick with the filter reso pushed to the bottom. But otherwise yes I love more and more use very basic machines see very cheap!"

Impressive.
